This was one of the worst movies ive ever seen. I cant tell you why its bad though as I have seen it yet. Jk this movie is slaps. Loved every minute and Javiers character really stole the show for me.

Calling this film the best Neo-Western in cinematic history would probably not be enough. The screenplay, editing, and acting are the elements that make it one of the best in cinematic history. I have not seen many movies from the Coen Brothers, but No Country for Old Men is absolutely worth a watch; it's definitely worthy of being considered amongst the greatest films of the 2000s. It's a western mixed with crime noir, set in relatively modern times (1980s), and, as far as I remember, it is very engaging throughout.

There is just something about No Country for Old Men that hits incredibly well for me. The story is told in a deep and intriguingly captivating way. Anton Chigurh is one of the best villains of all time. The random acts of violence and evil, while following his own lawful evil code is astounding to watch. I don't believe this movie will ever get old.

It was fantastic, I loved the acting. I just felt lost a couple times during the movie.

A slow burner. Slow at first, but keep with it and you'll be rewarded. Some strong performances! It should have been shorter in length, in my opinion, to make it a very good film.

Javier Bardem's villain is incredibly menacing. The film is a faithful, almost like-for-like replication of the book.

Action Horror is not a niche, but pretty cameral genre, which lacks great films that truly combine horror atmosphere and action elements.That really work in quite a special condition, and the Coen brothers manage to achive that balance and gave us a great representative of the genre.

This prophetic statement from the seemingly inhuman Anton Chigurh unveils an incredibly succinct truth found in the Coen brothers' bleak and seemingly cryptic No Country for Old Men: where's the chance or where's the irrefutable truth? The triangular cat-and-mouse chase between Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin), and Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) is as metaphysically prophetic as it is thrillingly unforgettable.

The Free flow story telling with slow and gripping cat and mouse chase, the situations and dialogues and the killings they were chef's kiss, it was an amazing movie.

Hands down my favorite movie of all time. Great writing, acting, pacing, and story. Just watch it. You won’t regret it.

No Country for Old Men has that dark crime passion with awesome signature weapons and fantastic performances.

Every artistic decision in this movie has purpose and weight. Nothing is wasted. Efficient, economic, and hard-hitting. Javier Bardem makes a dude with a silly haircut supremely terrifying. The actors across from him deserve as much credit, too - they act utterly horrified in his presence, and Bardem eats that up. Tommy Lee Jones is perfectly cast. The mortality his performance carries is difficult to shake. One of the best adaptations ever put on screen. Josh Brolin could ace any performance he wants.

No Country for Old Men is an unusually-paced film, one with an abundance of long silences, seemingly-innocuous conversations and dangling plot threads that don't ultimately lead anywhere. In many instances, that could make for some infuriating viewing, but in the Coen brothers' hands it all somehow comes together into a master tapestry. The word of the day is suspense, an emotion the brothers have mastered, and No Country is a glorious example of its merits. The film's three protagonists, retiring sheriff Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), stone-cold killer Chigurh (a terrifying, star-making turn for Javier Bardem) and land-living cowboy Moss (Josh Brolin), never actually meet face-to-face, but the wake of ripples left in their dueling pursuits is enough to power several movies' worth of rich, intriguing material. Sweaty, intense action walks lockstep with outstanding characterization, top-notch dialogue and a hearty dose of respect for the novel. Like many Coen classics, it gets better with each subsequent viewing.

Wow. No Country for Old Men, which I am surprised I had not seen yet, is based on the book written by Cormac McCarthy. Directed by the Coen Brothers which was super exciting. It follows the trail of a cocaine deal gone wrong, and a rogue $2 million which a regular man, psychotic serial killer, and local police officer all attempt to track down. I love Cormac McCarthy books, and therefore, I was no less apt to love this film. Ingenious creation of one of the best villains I have ever seen on a silver screen as well. Chigurh was not just some physically menacing killer. He had thoughts, he was departed for sure, but there was something tangible about the way he perceived the world; as he relied heavily on philosophy of chance and purpose. A compelling story with gripping turns makes this movie extremely unmissable for any movie lover.

A superb gem of a thriller. Slow paced, intelligent script and a direction and screenplay that really allows the characters to inhabit the scenes. Thank god the soundtrack is basically non existent. The plot subverts the audience allowing the reality to really hit you. Its clearly top tier stuff that influenced many of the longer form TV shows like breaking bad.

Grim interesting film that is an uncomfortable watch for sure. The main villian is a truly scary person to behold.

It's a powerful, flawed gem for making you question everything, even if it leaves you with an uneasy silence.

This movie was so intense in the cinematography and the sins of danger and slow rolling tension that is the most theme I can find it this movie the feeling of slowly getting attacked and not knowing when and **** main antagonist is some of the most scary villain, I have seen in a movie, Just chaos happening without a reason we can see as an audience, he determination almost make him feel like the predator. He is a horror **** contrast they uses where most of the scenes have a dark shadow to the mix it look so distinct and good and all the shooting when people get shots look so gory and disgusting in the best possible way it gives it a really big punch shots **** the way the characters are a few words makes it almost a silent movie where you have to judge it by the characters movement and the few lines they say it is so good and makes it so more **** actors did an amazing job and was totally believable I didn't not happen to find a logic floor anything like that. It was tossed a really good written and acted movie and especially the antagonist villain.

"this is a great movie about how life hits but the ending could be more fun. The action is amazing and keeps you hooked till the very end. I definitely recommend it.

Great film, not too slow, not too fast. Solid watch, only drawback is the characters aren’t as fleshed out and understood as some would prefer. Still a great and underrated piece all together.

Joel and Ethan Coen have made so many incredible films, but none quite as good as No Country for Old Men. This best picture winner is well-directed, expertly written, and outstanding even in the smallest of details. Anton Chigurh will go down in history as one of the most intimidating film antagonists of all time.

I'd heard great things about this movie and to say i was disappointed would be a lie. It's a fantastic cat and mouse thriller that subverts the expectations of the genre. Filled with western influence it does play as a modern Western but against the suffocating quite tension and violence that punctuates the struggle it becomes an Acton thriller. Barden is chilling in his performance as the unmoving psychopath killer ,Bolin is just as great as the down on his luck cowboy. It's worth watching.

What amazed me most about this moving is how real it feels to me. Almost every movie the characters do things that are so unnatural and stupid choices that makes no sense. This movie everything felt so real, the way they behaved, the choices they took it all just feels so natural and real. Absolutely amazing movie in my opinion.

A movie I watched after seeing so many damn video essays about it online. This, along with any Tarantino film under the sun, is one of the movies film students pride themselves on studying. I'm no film student, but the mature story and interesting dynamic of the characters throughout did grip me and hold my attention to the end. It kind of feels pointless to praise this movie in any way as you could go and watch any of those smarmy video essays and they'd be able to do it more justice. Worth the watch if you like mature and grounded stories.

I can't say I view this one positively. I clearly don't get it, which I'm fine with. I'm all for films that don't play it so straight that it's predictable, but at the same time I'm rarely a fan of films that are so full of themselves to end in such a derisory way. Listen, that's probably harsh as it is still a good flick no doubt, but 'No Country for Old Men' is highly unsatisfactory and highly uninspiring for me. I will say that I have no issues with the cast whatsoever, they are all fantastic. Javier Bardem is awesome, easily the star, and Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Woody Harrelson are all top value. Kelly Macdonald and Garret Dillahunt are also involved, I like them too. Stephen Root, Mr. 'L for Love' himself, as well. Away from the onscreen bunch, the cinematography is superb. It's the story. I didn't get what I wanted from it, at all. All the ingredients are there for a 10/10 film, that's the level I was expecting it to reach based on the opening half or so. The second half though... super disappointing! So many underwhelming choices. Such a waste of a strong cast... 'The Counselor'-esque. Bardem is also in that, sorry my dude! The fact I'm still giving this what I consider to be a positive rating shows how much the conclusion frustrated me. This had top tier written all over it but it somehow messed it up as it went by... and I'm not usually one to dig out a film's ending. In my defence, even some reviews (many, in fact) from people who love the film mention that the ending isn't perfect so I guess it just comes down to how the final moments sit with you. For me, evidently not good!

No Country for Old Men is not necessarily the Coen Brothers' best movie, I consider Barton Fink, Fargo, Miller's Crossing and The Big Lebowski better. However it is a great movie, I'd go as far to say it is my definition of a flawed masterpiece(the only other movie I've given that definition to is The Magnificent Ambersons). So why do I call it a flawed masterpiece rather than a masterpiece full stop? Well actually right up to the last twenty minutes, the film was the latter rather than the former. If the last twenty minutes had not felt like a completely different movie, it would've stayed like that. As is the case with all the Coen Brothers' movies, No Country for Old Men is very well made with impressive cinematography, editing and settings. The story is compelling, the direction superb and the script most of the time taut, funny, thrilling and exciting. Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones are excellent in this film, but if I have to give an award to best performance of the film, it would be Javier Bardem in a villainous role that is menacing and chillingly effective. Overall, a great movie but due to the final twenty minutes it just loses out to that extra something. 9/10 Bethany Cox

This odd atypical western gets better year after year every time you watch it again. There is all the poetics of the Coen brothers in this film: anarchy, characters who always make the worst decision at the wrong time and tragicomically complicate their lives. Not at the level of their best films but still a great movie.

It's such a thrilling cat and mouse game set in a western style theme and environment. All the performances are outstanding, particularly Javier Bardem who is just bone-chillingly terrifying in this. Roger Deakins' cinematography is gorgeous as usual. Only negative for me is the ambiguous and anti-climactic ending; I get what they were going for but I usually like more closure.

I kept snapping up that the film (thriller) was pretty good (got a couple of oscars too), but damn that was really good, I have to say. Yesterday evening I wanted to go into the matter completely chilled, but the film starts off directly with brutal action. Basically, it's about a game of cat and mouse between different people, especially between Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) and Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) after a drug deal by various cartels has failed and the protagonist happens to come by and take the money with him. Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) also plays an important role again and again and the film starts with his narrative words. Actually it was world class from start to finish. Very bizarre characters, with Anton Chigurh standing out. This figure was just completely unpredictable and also really frightening (with his nail gun and this peculiar shotgun), and had not felt as uncomfortable as with this figure for a long time. Very strong cinema as Javier Bardem put across. With his looks (e.g. at the roadside at the chicken guy before he stops) he freezes the pulp. Not only the actors, but also the entire production contributes to a grandiose, gloomy mood. The atmosphere of the film makes you sit in the very front of the chair and the funny thing is that the film has no spoken word at all in some places, but that also increases the tension of the film so much. But also the spoken words are absolutely citation-capable and there are a lot of bizarre and well written dialogues. Anton Chigurh: 1958. It's been traveling twenty-two years to get here. And now it's here. And it's either heads or tails. And you have to say. Call it. Gas Station Proprietor: Look, I need to know what I stand to win. Anton Chigurh: Everything. The whole scene was just terrific. It's about a coin and the fate associated with it. This tension, paired with the unpredictability of some characters and the film as a whole, is already masterful in terms of staging and leads to a finale, which throws you through again and leaves you a bit confused. For me it has basically already become a classic and I will definitely see this film one time or another. Great film and I definitely have to catch up with Fargo, which my parents have been recommending to me for many years. 10/10 nail guns.
