Mad Max: Fury Road is an outstanding film, with outstanding direction from George Miller, which was shot outstandingly well. The characters all look so awesome, Max even has a leg brace from a bullet injury from one of the earlier movies. Margaret Sixel definitely deserved the editing Oscar for this film. Everyone on Immortan Joe's side looks so scary and intimidating. The wasteland is so vast and empty, I don't know how they managed to make it look cool, but they did. This whole film is just so pleasing to the eyes and ears.

Richard Linklater's epic coming-of-age film, Boyhood, is an incredible film. Expertly directed, written, and edited. This movie teaches you not to live your life as a series of milestones, but to remember the little things, the good and the bad. Strangely, the characters I found myself focusing on more than the main character, were his parents, Mason Evans, Sr.(Ethan Hawke), and Olivia Evans (brilliantly played by Patricia Arquette).

The third installment of Richard Linklater's Before trilogy, Before Midnight, is expertly written to create a realistic look at a marriage.

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the most highly regarded directors of all time, and his film, The Master, brilliantly demonstrates why. Freddie Quell is a very interesting protagonist. Two other notable characters in this film are Lancaster Dodd and Peggy Dodd. When these characters are on screen it is nearly impossible to look away.

Terrence Malick's masterpiece, The Tree of Life is one of the greatest films of all time. Expertly directed and expertly shot.

Debra Granik's film, Winter's Bone is one of the best films of all time, and it is expertly written. Ree Dolly is one of the most interesting protagonists of all time. Teardrop Dolly is another complex character worth watching.

Kathryn Bigelow's film, The Hurt Locker, is a bit of a controversial best picture winner, but overall, I feel it's a great film. It's expertly directed, well written, and contains artistry in all of the smaller details. Sergeant First Class William James is one of the most interesting film protagonists in history.

Pixar has made many great films, but director Andrew Stanton's film, WALL-E takes the cake as the best one. This expertly written, beautifully animated film manages to grab the viewer's attention in the first few minutes with little to no dialogue.

Joel and Ethan Coen have made so many incredible films, but none quite as good as No Country for Old Men. This best picture winner is well-directed, expertly written, and outstanding even in the smallest of details. Anton Chigurh will go down in history as one of the most intimidating film antagonists of all time.

Children of Men is Alfonso Cuarón's best work, and this dude directed Gravity and Roma. This film did not get the appreciation it deserves. It works well as an action movie for those who only want to see explosions, but if you dive a little deeper, you'll find a powerful social message.
