The setup shows real promise - Blanc returns with a fresh cast and an island mystery that initially hooks you in. The first half drags more than it should, lingering on introductions and setup that could've been tighter. But things pick up with some genuinely clever twists that remind you why this franchise works. Then the final thirty minutes arrive and everything collapses. What could've been a satisfying payoff becomes frustratingly shallow, abandoning the smart structure for something far less interesting.Daniel Craig remains committed and watchable, but even he can't save the ending's poor choices. Janelle Monáe does solid work in a demanding role, yet the script ultimately wastes her efforts. 5/10: If you loved the first film's tight plotting, prepare for disappointment. The worst mystery movie I've ever scene. When the twist comes the smartest detective in the world says "its so dumb, its sooo dumb", not even realizing he is the dumbest part of the whole movie. Without spoiling anything all I can say is after the twist he is either criminally reckless, or actually trying to kill the victim.

While I can definitely see the problems that this movie has, it was a lot better than I remember it being and I still very much enjoyed it!

Another decent film in this series, which is better than the first imho. Some of the jokes were better than the first film, and the acting was generally of a higher standard. I particularly like Monae, and this time Craig’s accent wasn’t as distracting. The direction and the narrative were ok, the plot however was easily guessed. I’d watch it again!

The same puzzle, but more tedious. 'Glass Onion' is not better than its predecessor; it is weaker and less convincing, despite having a script that I consider denser. Johnson makes a misstep that the previous film avoided: a series of decisions based on coincidences that sometimes feel forced. It’s not poorly written, but it does stretch credibility. It is less engaging and entertaining. The pace is noticeably slower, and this time the film relies more on the cast than on the story itself—a balance that was handled more effectively in the first film. While Craig brings his signature charisma and helps carry the ensemble (which is otherwise somewhat limited), Edward Norton does not stand out to me. The set design, although eye-catching with a giant crystal onion, loses much of the impact seen in the previous installment. Still, Johnson avoids monotony with a narrative that feels distinct and “refreshing” within the same universe. The plot is slightly more intricate, and it’s clear that this is a scripted story, particularly in the way the characters formulate their theories. It neither surpasses nor equals its predecessor; however, it does not disappoint. The film is solid, light, and enjoyable.

Glass Onion isn't as good as the first one, but it's still an incredibly fun ride. It has a very different setting, a very different set of characters and shows a different side of Benoit Blanc. Where the first felt classic, this one feels modern and I liked the first one more during the first and now too. Here the killer was more obvious and I always say that wasn't the point of this movie, but I still miss that kind of the big surprise, becauee there's still one in this film, which is awesome. The directing is good, the tone of this is very different from the first one, but it works. The cinematography has even more playful camera movement, which I loved. The editing is "same-same, but different, but still same". The cast is still extremely strong, but in my opinion there's no outstanding performance besides Daniel Craig this time. Glass Onion is the least amazing part of an incredible trilogy.

Chapter two of the Benoit Blanc mysteries, following in the footsteps of Knives Out with an (almost) entirely new cast that scarcely misses a beat. Just like its predecessor, Glass Onion is stuffed with brash characters, crafty double-crosses, silly scraps of intrigue and light-hearted japes at the expense of high society. Like a great magician, it delights in pulling the wool over the audience’s eyes, but doesn’t rely on cheap tricks or lies to conceal the truth. We’re merely convinced to avert our gaze each time the murder weapon stands exposed. As with the original film, the first hour is a riotous joyride that’s often laugh-out-loud funny. The setup is ingenious and magical, a puzzle so deeply layered that, at first glance, it can be tough to discern when the real game has actually begun. It delights and surprises with wit and charm, wrenches the wheel every time we get comfortable, rewinds and revisits and rebuilds the facts to upend the truths we once held sacred. The home stretch gets a bit too crafty for my taste, continuing its erratic course when I was long-since ready to quit playing around, but that’s a problem I had with Knives Out, too, and I should’ve expected nothing less. It’s very much a case of more-of-the-same, and the lack of creative drop-off is impressive considering the plot’s complexities and the massive casting churn. Jamie Lee Curtis and Chris Evans might have gone missing, but Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn and Dave Bautista are more than adequate replacements. And, now that I’ve grown accustomed to the accent, Daniel Craig’s southern sleuth serves as a superb master of ceremonies. Tons of fun.

While it fails to be a full-on murder mystery, that fact allows it to succeed as a unique film that explores modern wealth and its perceptions. On a first watch, the plot is snappy and unpredictable in the most enjoyable fashion, never engaging in a dull moment by using its reputation to keep viewers on their toes. The cast all play their roles perfectly, each a believable stereotype that makes you love none of them but nonetheless invested in all of them. Danial Craig again delivers a masterclass of a performance as Benoit Blanc in this satirical and comedic film.

Rian Johnson builds a clever mystery with Glass Onion. Yet unlike its predecessor, where the characters were amusingly devious, everyone here is despicable and completely unrelatable. These annoying and immature characters bring down an otherwise enjoyable mystery.

The third Knives Out movie doesn’t have a release date yet since the script hasn’t even been written yet, but it will mostly likely be out in 2024. This is the first Netflix movie to play in three movie theaters before premiering on Netflix: AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. The story is about the famed Southern detective, Benoit Blanc, whom we met in the first Knives Out movie. In this sequel, he travels to Greece for his latest murder mystery. Sequels always make me a little bit nervous because they have the reputation of being terrible and disappointing, but this one is a lot of fun and very good! Yay! THINGS I LIKED: The killer cast is extremely funny and 5 Oscar nominees, 1 Oscar winner, and includes Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Noah Segan, Ethan Hawke, Hugh Grant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and even Serena Williams. All of the actors look like they’re having a total blast. There is a lot of humor, both visual and spoken. Dave Bautista made me laugh every time he was on screen. The title gets its name from the Beatles song in the White Album. The first Knives Out movie also got its name from a song by Radiohead from their album Amnesiac. Fans of Knives Out will get a kick out of all the references to it and how some of the mentions are fleshed out in this sequel. I love twists. As an author and English professor, I thought the running gag of terrible vocabulary was hilarious. Fun fact: The Mona Lisa really was painted on wood, not canvas. THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE: I was worried the cast would wear face masks during the entire movie. This is a LONG movie! Some audiences will blame it on the decision to tell the story for a second time from a different perspective. It’s an interesting, yet time-consuming choice. This was fun murder mystery set in a beautiful location. All the actors are well suited for their roles, each with their own motives and seedy pasts. Daniel Craig is fun in this, great to see him outside of Bond films for a change.

Not exactly as good as its predecessor, but still one of the better murder mysteries you could watch.

Glass Onion: A knives out mystery Very rarely do sequels matchup to their original movies, but Glass Onion does that, if not besting the original Knives Out. Led by an outstanding ensemble cast, Glass Onion intrigues, peeling off each layer of the murder mystery with so much finesse and panache. Glass Onion weaves through its flashbacks and present storyline seamlessly, brilliantly infusing social satire, wit and humour. The very nuanced portrayals from the cast is noteworthy, especially for Janelle Monae, Kate Hudson and Daniel Craig. The location, the cinematography, the direction and the score, all brilliant!

Wow, I can see why metacritic is the better audience indicator than RottenBoughtTomatoes. Yep, it's crap no question. Somehow their just gonna keep giving Johnson more money, letting the critics fluff each other over it, and we're probably gonna get more studios flooding the reviews sites to dilute the scores.

I liked the first Knives Out, but not this one. The first one was clever this is parodistic, exaggerated, full of himself and filled with memes and stereotypical characters. Terrible, cheap and "modern" ending also. For me It feels like an humorous fan fiction of the first one

Very underrated and brilliant film, which has a great cast and a very interesting turn of events. Practically, on the same level as the previous one. Promoted with full marks!

Unlike the first film, this one fails at shaking you up by letting you in on the twist half-way through. This takes it in a new direction; you know "who did it", you're just along for the ride. Not much mystery in this mystery. Besides Benoit Blanc (bless him) all the characters are whomever you want to portray onto them; I believe they're meant to be unlikable and a bit dumb, and they are. The ending is pretty shallow.

Another stupid WOKE AGENDA film of the stupidest kind. Stupid dialogue, stupid story, stupid actors, especially the brainless ending, just awful, who came up with this nonsense, here the viewer is really taken for stupid. All white people are stupid, ONLY the black actress is smart, outstanding, genius and is the best...total waste of time, lots of pretense, lots of stupid blabla, but hollow and empty inside.

Not as strong overall as its predecessor, but still very entertaining. Another strong ensemble cast.

Glass Onion is a survey that does not have one. We will admire the hundreds of references to culture in general and it looks good. The film is certainly (very) long to really start that we realize that the survey never started. Between the subtle play of the plot (this is the minimum for this genre of film) and the somewhat overworked acting. The case of Daniel Craig is only intelligently simplistic.

There were no onions in this movie. I am so mad. Onions have layers, but this movie was see through and there was no substance. I can't believe I spent 8 hours watching this movie.

Predictable, pretentious, boring, uninspired, contrived. A mess. Don't beleive the hype. Nothing of the first comes through here. The only similarity is the title.

This sequel is a disappointment not because it is a bad movie, which it's not, because it does not live up to the promises of the original movie. Onion Glass is quite unrelated to Knives Out, and the only thing left from the former is Benoit Blanc and its brief detective show albiet not very surprising. The director has unfortunately pursued a completely different goal here while the audience was after something else.

Absolutely excellent. I enjoyed this even better than the first, the story was absolutely engaging and unpredictable. Janelle Monae did such a fantastic job truly an actress highlight of 2022 for me

Hilarious, biting, and exciting. Daniel Craig and Janelle Monae are luminous together, and Edward Norton's physical acting alone is electrifying.

Tiene buenos giros, como era de esperar, y aunque su endgame mole, me dejó un poco seco, demasiado atropellada para mí. · Cosas buenas: el reparto, sensacional, y las actuaciones más de lo mismo. Los grandes y buenos giros de guion, buenos diálogos, todo bien en ese aspecto, incluso su endgame, enrevesado, pero interesante. · Cosas malas: para mí, roza el ridículo demasiadas veces, es entendible en su situación, pero me molesta. Te deja un poco mal sabor de boca, es algo atropellada de más, quizás le dan demasiadas vueltas. · Conclusión: que a mi no me haya apasionado como la primera no tiene nada que ver, seguramente te encantará, es una buena experiencia, sobre todo para ver con amigos y apostar quién es el "asesino".

This was a pretty fun detective movie which had some pretty decent laughs which were mostly carried out by the main character. The plot was also pretty fun and I like how they added a more modern twist (theres even amogus for gods sake). If you liked the first one this would be right up your valley but do not expect something that will stay with you for a long time since in by the end it gets a bit tedious and generic.

Knives out was a solid 9 out of 10. Glass onion is more like 7 out of 10. While still decent, I felt the mystery aspect was really lacking. Things started to pick up towards the end, but the overall plot and mystery was not as good as the first movie. However, like the first one, the characters in Glass Onion were a lot of fun. The characters made the slow parts of the movie more entertaining.

Disappointing because, for me, the movie starts out as a lot of fun. I expect and can forgive the "surprise! Here's everything you would have had to have known that I didn't tell you!" but the climax/resolution is long, painful and unfun.

A algum tempo atrás eu assisti Entre Facas e Segredos, e considero ele um bom filme. Então um dia desses navegando pela Netflix eu encontrei a sequência Glass Onion - Knives out Mystery, Glass Onion: Um Mistério Knives Out - certo eu não sei quem decidiu o nome em inglês mas não ficou muito bom... só acho. Assim como o primeiro filme esse foi escrito e dirigido por Rian Johnson , o nome é familiar? Isso porque ele foi o roteirista e diretor de Star Wars: Os Últimos Jedi. Glass Onion: Um Mistério Knives Out, apesar de apresentar Daniel Craig, novamente no papel do detetive Benoit Blanc, não é uma sequência, pois as histórias são independentes. A estrutura me lembrou bastante dos livros de Agatha Christie. Aliás, o filme todo o tempo me levou para esses antigos livros e filmes de investigação das décadas passadas. O Filme foi gravado e se passou durante a pandemia (maldito seja - COVID-19), e achei brilhante não deixar isso de fora da história. Mas sem mais demora vamos falar um pouco da história, a sinopse é. O Rico empresário Miles Bron - Interpretado por Edward Norton, envia uma caixa misteriosa para os seus amigos mais próximos e o detetive Benoit Blanc, com a caixa eles recebem também um convite para desvendar o assassinato do próprio Miles Bron. Por ser uma sequência de Knives Out, mas não ter uma relação direta com o primeiro filme, mesmo não assistindo ao filme anterior é possível entender a trama desta segunda história sem grandes problemas. É muito interessante a pegada de filmes antigos de detetive desvendando crimes, a música, a história, os personagens, te levam para o passado, mas o filme se passa nos dias atuais, o que você acaba lembrando pela tecnologia, e algumas conversas, essa combinação é maravilhosa. Eu amei o filme mas me incomodei um pouco com as reviravoltas, foi um recurso bem encaixado, mas eu acho que foi usado demais na segunda metade do filme. De qualquer forma o filme é muito bom, e vale muito a pena assistir, quando você quer aquele de filmes de investigação com uma pegada bem humorada.

I am not American, I am a New Zealander, so here is a proper review of the film for the other few hundred nations on earth they forgot about. What I mean by that is, as per my handle and as per my predictions years out on America's culture war, the conning of the Right from within and without... plus that the Right would storm the Capitol (two years out), I just know a thing or two. Unfortunately, many stateside do not. Like a good murder-mystery, I am on the outside looking in. I can judge you and objectively so. Firstly, opinions are not equal. If they're word for word? Then sure. Otherwise, the repeated sermons and idiocy of the Right could just be summed down to one comment and a zero and you should not publish their reviews metacritic. It destroys your credibility by virtue of the fact that they have none - and no scruples. Pure freedom is abuse. Anyhoo.... So, is Glass Onion good (rather than enjoyed because you are you a liberal or disliked because you are a sociopath trying to make America great and glorious, um, again... hang on, when was that again? When it was terrible for everyone but white men like me? Yeah, that is what you regressives mean... Evolve or become inconsequential at best.. that's what I would say to you dying horses)? Truth is though, deeply ironically, on this film, they're right, the Right, on this one and only occasion that I can recall out of about 67,832... Not the greatest strike-rate... I mean, give a monkey a typewriter. But it isn't bad for their reasons. It just isn't very good. For comparison, I would give the first one 8/10. Their (Right Wing sheep) low scores are a reflection of how much their defence-mechanisms have forced them to hate anything but themselves for losing their way and becoming monsters condemning their very own, but it would just go over their heads to explain that to planks of wood well past the point of no return. But you are in an awful mess.... and the Right are to blame. Their voters are victims but complicit enough that all must now suffer the same fate. That is very sad, but true and now necessary. Anyway, sorry if my opinion on all that upsets or angers, to alleviate somewhat any of your strong reactions necessary to conceal self-awareness, all I can offer is that it is entirely fact and only my opinion as it is fact. Rather than offer instinct and repeat brain-washings, I just have facts entirely occupy my opinion, then my opinion is fact. So, unfortunately, or fortunately if you still have your soul intact... I am indisputably right. And you lose. I was also pretty sure who the 'killer(s)' was/were. Those are the faults. The stupidity, racism , projections and backwardness of the sheeple on the Right are alternatively far, far more frequent and far less forgivable.
