The Last Remnant Remastered is not for the risk averse. It features a lot of design decisions, and punishes anyone who dares to ignore them. There's also a massive learning curve to account for, as the intricacies of battle will require serious effort to master. Even this critic, who has logged almost 200 hours between all three versions, still has a lot to learn. Regardless, the various gameplay systems are all satisfying to understand, and the results of a well built team that employs sound tactics are immeasurably fun to experience. What else is there to say about this game? It's a classic.

The Last Remnant Remastered is the best available version of the JRPG by Square Enix. The graphics is improved, however remain the flaws of a game released 10 years ago, without enhancements in gameplay. It adds elements to the classic turn-based combat, sometimes chaotic but able to stand out.

Una obra maestra que ha pasado desapercibida y que no le han dado apenas bombo. Lo acabé en la PS4 un par de años después de jugarlo aquí en Steam, pero el juego es tan complicado que me quedé sin poder avanzar en un boss y era imposible volver hacia atrás.Como dije, un par de años después cuando salió remasterizado para la Playstation 4, lo cogí y me lo finalicé, unas 100 horas más o menos me llevó, casi me animo a sacar el platino, pero ya me había cansado de tantas horas. Me pareció un juego entretenido, difícil y una buena banda sonora. Recomiendo para los que le gusten los RPG de combate a turnos de manera diferente.

The game is good the story is good the combat system is great but... I hate this game with a fiery passion I hate how it punishes you for trying to lvl up when you get to certain areas of the game.
The game takes a quick turn around when you get to the eagles nest. This is the first game to either make or break you.

It weaves a ripping yarn, and has a beautifully detailed combat system that is endlessly rewarding to tinker with.

The Last Remnant has its inherent flaws. However, there is plenty there to engross any RPG player, old or new, who needs something else. The game offers little direction and limits itself narratively, but trial and error can help polish off the rough enough to see its glimmer

The Last Remnant isn’t the best RPG from the previous generations, but it is good and original indeed. The visual update also fixes some issues, and makes it look better than ever.

One of the biggest complaints about the original game had to do with issues regarding the graphics. The remastered version not only fixed those issues but makes this classic game look pretty good, much better than it did in 2009. However, it doesn't look quite as good as most games released in 2018, so a remaster can, apparently, only do so much.

The Last Remnant is an interesting experiment in expanding the traditional turn-based battle system, but there are enough annoyances in that system and weaknesses in its setting and characters to keep this from reaching the heights it’s clearly reaching for.
