Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has something common to all great games: the ability to make us forget the world around us, even if it's for just a few minutes, to fully absorb its ideas, and deliver a cathartic conclusion.
Clair Obscur is an RPG on rocket skates. It takes big swings and lands all of them with a satisfying smack.
Clair Obsur: Expedition 33 is a marvel of a video game. A game-changing, genre-bending masterpiece. It serves as a testament to the passion of what can be accomplished by a talented team, rivaling the efforts of giant monolith publishers that have three times the budget and resources. It converted me into seeking out other turn-based experiences, but this excellent game may have spoiled me.

One of the best games I’ve played in recent years. It’s easily my favorite game I’ve played in 2026 so far. The story, atmosphere, and gameplay kept me engaged from start to finish. The Turkish language support was a pleasant surprise and made the experience even more enjoyable for me. I genuinely had a great time with this game and enjoyed every moment of it. A well-deserved 10/10.

This game is a blurry mess, it's so blurry that i might need glasses now. This game probably gave me cancer as well. It's a horrendous game. Definitely one of the worst. The JRPG experience felt straight from temu. Another Unreal Slopgine 5 classic. I just hate it. Buyers remorse from day one.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sets new standards for the genre of turn based RPGs with regard to the story, but even more so the combat. A new, shining star, who hopefully points the way for many future games.

A paradigm shift for turn-based RPGs, respectful of their heritage yet unafraid to dismantle and rebuild their foundations.

It's hard not to be impressed by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, if only for the sheer ambition it displays. From its very first minutes, the game sets a strong, atypical aesthetic framework, almost disturbing in its tormented beauty. The universe, somewhere between surrealistic nightmare and waking dream, is unlike anything currently on the J-RPG scene. But Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is more than just a visual daring, for beneath its visual and symbolic layers lies a surprisingly dense, rich and, above all, dynamic combat system. Combining turn-based and real-time reflexes, the game redefines the genre's expectations by forcing it out of its comfort zone. But ambitious as it is, Expedition 33 is not without its faults. The game's overly linear structure hinders exploration. The environments, as beautiful as they are, sometimes suffer from a lack of interaction and a rather flat level design. The title isn't perfect, but it's terribly sincere, and above all it's a work that dares and often succeeds.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 mixes JRPG-like turn-based battles with real-time action. While I was hooked to this combat system, the story’s sudden plot twist felt forced. Although this was hard to ignore, it is undeniable that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an appealing game that delivers a strong message.

meilleur scénario que j'ai fait dans un jeu solo (j'en ai vraiment fait pas mal). En plus de ça la musique reste captivante. On lance juste pour l'écouter.

I played the game on my PS5.First of all, I'm honestly not sure what score I would give this game. More importantly, I'm highly surprised by the number of Game of the Year awards it received. In my opinion, the game feels highly unpolished despite all the praise surrounding it.Plot:The game is often praised for its story and unexpected plot twists. For me, the ideas were good, but the execution wasn't nearly as strong as people **** most of the game, you can clearly see where the story is heading. Many of the twists felt predictable rather than surprising. The ending also left me scratching my head.Take Gustave's death, for example. It was clearly intended to create an "Aerith moment"—a shocking, emotional loss that would stay with the player. But why introduce Verso literally one minute later? It completely removed the weight of the sacrifice. The emotional impact barely had time to settle before the game replaced **** that's just one example among many. Don't get me wrong—the story is still good. I enjoyed it. I just don't think it's anywhere near as brilliant as many people make it out to be.Graphics:Good. Not outstanding, but not disappointing either. They get the job done and look perfectly acceptable for the current generation.Optimization:Surprisingly solid. I didn't notice any major frame-rate drops, and the game ran smoothly throughout my playthrough.Artistic Style:This was easily the strongest part of the **** colors, music, character designs, environments, and overall atmosphere were fantastic. Everything felt cohesive and committed to the game's dreamlike identity. Even when I wasn't particularly impressed by what I was doing, I was often impressed by how it looked and sounded.Gameplay:This is where I'll probably disagree with most people.I found the gameplay **** me, turn-based combat should actually be turn-based. Once you build the entire combat system around dodging and parrying, many traditional RPG mechanics start losing their **** you can avoid virtually all incoming damage through player skill, then leveling becomes less important. Building your characters becomes less important. Strategy becomes less important. Experimenting with different builds becomes less **** Lumina system initially reminded me of the first time I saw Materia in Final Fantasy VII, and I thought there was a lot of potential there. Unfortunately, that potential never fully materialized for me.Because dodging and parrying are so dominant, the rest of the combat system feels secondary. The game has to compensate by making enemies hit absurdly hard. Bosses can delete huge portions of your health bar in a single mistake. Attacks have to be delayed to trick the player. Parry timings often feel disconnected from the animations **** a result, the game gradually becomes less about RPG mechanics and more about memorizing attack patterns. Some fun build ideas, such as Verso's machine-gun-focused setup, exist, but they never felt as important as simply mastering the dodge and parry systems.Overall:I think it's a good game. More importantly, it's a fun game.I would absolutely recommend it to RPG fans because there is still a lot to enjoy here. However, for me, it was nowhere near the Game of the Year conversation. It has some fantastic artistic achievements and a few interesting ideas, but too many aspects of the experience felt underdeveloped or overpraised.A good game? Definitely.A masterpiece? Not even close.

Absolute 10/10 game considering the scale of the company that made it. 4/10 compared to high-budget games. If you thought Death Stranding had many cutscenes, just play this game. Never have I played a game where cutscenes and dialogues are longer than the gameplay. 10/10 story. I just wish they made a movie instead. Played 6 hours and dropped it.
