Ys IX: Monstrum Nox8
May 19, 2026
Monstrum Nox feels far more like a trails game in a ys skin than what I expected to both a great benefit and also coming with limitations. The Gifts and movement abilities are excellent and fun adding a much need exploartion boosting element to balduq with verticality and more. The combat is as good as ever, might even be some of the best minus the gimmicky final boss (why falcom?). Character portrayals stand out here with its approach, might be the best series cast overall i like pretty much all of them. The team has great synergy and works together well plus each characters story is fleshed out and adol feels very good. For the most part the nox stuff and mystery element and atmosphere is on point but i do think the plot stumbles. There are a few too many parts, plus the war politics side is generally boring compared to the fantasy parts and while the explanation is sufficient it feels off especially with the final villians sudden appearence. The side 2nd adol sections really cut into the flow. I like the game throwing sttuff at me but i dont think it perfectly came together in all the story execution. I really also miss the variety in area colors and biomes balduq is just drab and while dungeons are fine with using the gifts etc, its just so repetitive in appearance its not capturing the exploration feel of ys. Also do not like my side content being mandatory to progress things, give me good reasons to do it instead like dana. The game is a bit overindulgent especially to the endgame on cutscene and dialogue, i came to fight stuff more often, get to it pls. A pretty great game for the risk they took, but with some clear benefits and flaws.

Ys: Memories of Celceta8
May 15, 2026
Ys Series hasn't really missed so far, another good one with fun exploration of the forest, good charaters and combat and a solid okay story. I am enjoying the party based ys games quite a bit and this is a good time. Music is superb as usual and might be one of my favorite of the series. Story is normal, a bit bland villians and simple aspects plus some odd pacing (it goes way fast towards end and ends pretty abruptly) but good and fun. Dungeons and skills are good and systems still are fun. Mainly played on ps5 here, no issues and areas and field skills are nice.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance8
Apr 29, 2026
Another Great one, path of radience at the core feels like one of the best executed in gameplay, world building, and certain elements. At the same time when i think of the other elements like supports they felt either standard or meh, its not only hard to get them but they are okay compared to the other games i played. For me its getting these all going together that pushes these games up. POR makes some odd feeling decisions in story and certain moments that i feel off about and feel like im missing the context of radiant dawn right now. I personally am not as big on permadeath, having redo the entire map/ chapter really gets frustrating and adds unnessary time for me when you lose units creating just an off feeling me, but its fine, i think it should be always and option but this game was before that. A few characters stood out, and the conflict is interesting, its a great time and im so glad its on NSO now.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound8
Apr 29, 2026
Generally solid game, but a bit off feeling in abilities and levels. I am actually glad for the adjustable difficulty stuff since this feels just crushing hard in the later levels and bosses to the point of frustration line crossing over fun. it still feels ninja gaiden hard, but thats can be annoying when you just wanna beat it (yay i guess?). It felt like the equipment available and accesories were lacking. game length is fine especially if you do more but for one playthrough i might feel like it needs a slight bit more, fine at the price offered. bosses are solid except the final ones b.s. attack, atmosphere seems on point while levels are ok, seems fine. its not gonna suddently cause some revolution but its very solid and would recomend.

Tales of Arise7
Apr 29, 2026
Not a bad game for my first experience in the tales series but it really overstays things in that final 1/3 and loses itself. I thought the first 2/3 or so was very solid, the world building, characters, music and basic story are all good to great. The combat in enjoyable and solid with the repetition hurting of course all in that last part and the bosses being a bit too spongey later. The progression and moments in story are intruiguing and solid but again it loses it all in act 3. Somehow aliens become the reason ah yes they fell into the RPG trap in the end and totally undermine the race conflicts with their explanations. And please for the love of god dont just do repeat attack callout in battle its SO grating and annoying once it gets to 50+ hours of "eternal devastation " "eternal devastation " over and over again. If most tales games are like this i dont think i can get on that train. I think they did good with shionne and a few others here and lots of dialogue (pokemon could learn) but it went way overboard and ultimately fell apart. Solid, try it for a discount its ok. Its not gonna suddenly break the RPG barriers and molds though its just ok but that in itself is okay.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii9
Apr 13, 2026
Thoruoghly enjoyable engaging and entertaining. A Video game As heck videogame that completely understands what it going for never daring to take itself too seriously yet having all the heart it needs to weave a fun and wild story. Combat is pretty great with improvements to the action, it could use more to the styles and such as well as how things work but its really good. characters are a treat and the side stories are so bonkers including that one 5 girls sequence i LOST IT. the amusing moments with majima never get old with noahs heart, his dads persistence, the wild video game ass quests. What do you mean theres an ice island now? its just so much fun an absolute break and fun time from the frustrations of others providing just pure chaotic dumb fun.

Pokemon Champions6
Apr 13, 2026
Its fine, just okay, the frame rate and option are lacking for singles and items, not sure on how intended and animations are standard if okay. Do think it would be better to have single player content but its free to play and easy to get competitive pokemon and just get points train and go. We should have voice acting in 2026 (again pokemon why?) and more quality. That being said its really destroyed the barrier to entry for VGC and made it so easy and fun to just get pokemon and battle, try teams etc. Its a good step but for a release its kinda meh they better improve it over time. The monetization is odd but you barely need to buy anything if you just play games and rank up (easy) starter pack is honestly all you might want and all thats you need to go. I have enjoyed it, they do need to improve it but ILCA again was never a good choice for competitive which deserves more respect. I do think this meta is interesting but yeah it needs to get more updates etc.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond7
Jan 9, 2026
Prime 4 is very baffling making constant mistakes and questionable decisions that just erode the potentiall good moments and core of the game. I really don't get how they did not see the open sol valley was a good idea, in fact they admitted the knew it and pushed retro regardless! Its so bland and nothing with crystal collection padding for 2 extra hours and is easily the worst part of the game by far. The levels can be great with great bosses but they feel way more linear and straightforward, and the NPCs just get in the way with annoyingly unhelpful dialogue and hints that contribute nothing. They get in the way multiple times and are not written well enough to justify their place, with 1-2 being okay at best. Sylux is a paper thin villian that feels unplanned and ridiculous, and the ending feels almost out of character for samus. When you get into this game in the atmosphere, look and bosees and places like the cold area it can match or surpass the best of the original game and metroid series. But so much of that is compromised beyond expectations. This is not currently worth $70 play the remastered for $40. If it were not for the moments when everything clicks game would be a 6/10 honestly and I nearly dropped it. Could have been so much more and its just so frustrating to experience. BOTWs overrated open world poison feels like it has infected this game, and it suffers for it. Each series and game demands different fitting design, and nintendo is losese the memo on thisclearly with prime 4.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A - Mega Dimension5
Jan 6, 2026
Za base game was great imo, but the dlc feels very mediocre. The repetitive reuse of the assets and grindy tasks applied to the new space distortions makes the game plod along and become tedious and repetitive. The new megas are awesome in design and more and the story is solid, however the gameplay itself gets really worn out and stretched thin to nothing. The distortions are repeats of 5-6 areas in lumiose remixed which feels cheep and the control of your pokemon feels worse dude to its structure in elevations, obstacles and more. This really should not be anywhere near $30. An expansion at any solid price should have a full new area for exploration and approach. the previous pokemon dlcs did that better while still being ok at best.

Hades II8
Jan 6, 2026
Another great entry here, personally i feel i had about the same great but frustrating experience with getting a run as i had in hades 1. Once again the dialogue, art, character design and progression are very good. I do feel the weapons and arcana are a better system than one inimprovements, however it took far longer to get a run. the progression of upgrades is good for a while but really stalls 5-10 runs in repeat near the end before you beat it where i kept getting to the final boss and running out of gas or dying to the b.s. ONE SHOT attack. Maybe im just bad and the surface stuff was needed but Its just weird and frustrating to feel like it stalls. I do thing story was solid but neither grabbed me as hard, and its not just over once you make a run. Its somthing i think with this format/ rougelike i just personally dont vibe with as much. its still a great game i think i just want them to mix up the approach next time since it ran very parallel to 1.

Final Fantasy XIII7
Dec 2, 2025
I remember years ago watching this game and enjoying it, playing it for real its so clear the flaws of this get yet with some perspective i respect It and its troubled development and attempts. Its got something interesting buried behind an absolute mountain of frustration in design. its not just linearity its how this design bleeds into every aspect with leveling, hallways and the repetitiveness. its just hard to swallow the parts where you go walk, fight walk fight cutscene on repeat. No town no cities or side stuff till pulse to break up things and the way they explain the lore can be often frustrating. Characters are decent (except snow), light and fang are better than most say but its still hard to get into them. the structure and flaws of the game just dash alot of its good points aside. the villian is legit a total flop as well. That being said the OST is superb, and the cutscenes and art direction are immaculate they hold up in 2025, and i think the cocoon / pulse world and areas are just AMAZING from visual and variety point its so cool. The combat is actually quite solid once you get it together with lining up and paradigms. No better feeling than staggering and wailing on enemies in midair. Its odd to get but once you start using it better its very unique and solid. Pulse map itself legit improves things for a good bit. The game has clear flaws and stuff to slog through but i do think there is some geniune real points it should get regonition for. Everyone wanted 7 remake and this feels like the base for it by the team, and look how its turned now forthe mixed feelings there? crazy huh? This game is fighting its own flaws and fate for sure making something that passes and truly will be devisive. Maybe just try it for yourself and form your own opinions its definetely -different

Oath felt just as good and sometimes better than origins in playing it. It has great ost and a preety solid story / characters with the main few and the ideas it presents. Ghost of Yotei7
Nov 5, 2025
Yotei is a quality game but seems to be a step back from tsuhima in multiple areas. While the new weapons are better and welcome in combat, the parrying and glint timings in combat are inconsistent as hell, and the enemy behavior is frustrating. enemies will far more easily rush and team up or attack you while others do and have far more ability to kill you with the new fire arms, and more. This contiributes to making the player feel alot less like the samurai badass one person army of tsushima and more time spent dealing with the annoying ranged enemies attacks and the combat inconsistencies. Yotei still has good tales and interesting lore and stories in world to follow, and tries to improve the open world with the camps, yet it feels like the open world stuff is just kinda the same or far more ofen becomes drawn out faster. The music is not really memorable and the treatment of the ainu people history feels just no handled well. The main story was relatively good untill the final few acts. After a good bit of reward and buildup the final act or 2 overly follows "revenge bad" tropes plots that are not good ans i thought they were better than making the ending fall incredibly flat. They feel forced, predicatble and just generally overused and not satisfying. Its not a good ending and hurts the game. Tshuima for its flaws presented something that felt more standout at the time and really let an impact. this game is good but it does not leave the impact. They need to really dial back into making the game more enjoyable for the players on any other installments or it will wear thin. In general i was left dissapointed a bit to my expectations.

Ninja Gaiden 48
Oct 31, 2025
This is an excellent hack and slash game managing to combine the appeal of platnium titles with the agression, difficulty and strengths of classic ninja gaiden. It sucessfully put the series back in a good spot, and offers a content stong package i will easily put hours and hours into. The combat is excellent nailing the flow and options while mainitaining great enemies, their agression and alot of what ninja gaiden is while adding in modern options and new systems, and yakumos new style while keeping ryu very intact. Its very consistent with challenge and enemies, they feel fair in the system used, with options the right amount of ninja b.s. but those pure adrenaline moments of platnium games. The game runs really well with a great look and atmosphere, and calls back very well to the old titles especially as a lore follow up to dragon sword and the series.Seori is a fun addition i wish for more of. The games acessibility and options are downright excellent for any fan and the OST is an absolute standout hit. A few points keep this from the top - The level design could be a bit better, aestetically good but some oddness and need for more areas color could help the game. Buying some techniques just does not feel the best it needed to be on your base moveset. Ryu really needs more weapons and to have a bit better time / usage in the base game. The story is just fine, there is some more they could have done with yakumos intro, with some rushing to it and things to improve, but it does a fine job and does not get in the way of the gameplay. Some of the levels do feel a bit long for an action game but having the length is better than not. In general it feels like this could bring in more potential for 3D gaidn, and i am looking forward to additional content and hope it does very well. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a great action game regardless if you need to wait on price or more that in the current gaming scape really feels standout. 8/10 an great +to fantastic time.

Actually one of the best games in pokemon, a truelove letter to XY fans with fantastic music characters, gameplay and final act. No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle7
Oct 7, 2025
No more heroes 2 simply feels not quite the same as the first game, while being good in its own right. You can feel the directorial difference here, yet combat is still fun and a few standout bosses were great. that being said, trimming to the missions is both better and worse. better to getinto fights, worse for the feel. maybe this is purposeful to feel like revenge bad plot. That being said the combat felt odder, i rarely used dark step, and some of the bosses just felt more odd and like gimmicks. Then they have the absolute banger alice and margaret fights that go ham to counter the odd ones. overall its something about the way fightes are presented. in 1 every bosss felt different and weird, here less so standout. anddon't get me started on one of the worse final bosses of all time. good lord the game loses points just for that b.s. its awful. A good albeit odd game thatis missing some feelings on the vibes of the predessor.

Oct 7, 2025
No more heroes is messy and fantastic art. Purposeful in its approach in throwing the mudane and frustrating plus not good person protagonist to you while dangling in awesome combat and memorable bosses to its benefit. the in betweens are frustrating on purpose but still annoying to play just to get to the absolutely standout bosses, and solid combat. The game is definetely dated and odd, with good music and purposeful ridiculousness. Its not something that can be easily described yet should be tried at least once for the experience. I'm not even sure how to accurately rate it like being a good / great thing yet clearly art.

Scarlet Nexus5
Oct 1, 2025
Scarlet nexus seems to do the minimum just to be decent enough to enjoy but never escapes its Lacking core. Its honestly a game with what feels like solid ideas for combat that just are enjoyable enough and interesting with enemy designs, SAS powers , and strings/ psychic powers to stay afloat with gameplay. This is untill it gets repetitive and samey in combat, enemies. its just doesn't have quite enough. When you look at the best action games its just not up to their snuff or has the element that keeps you in those games, making it feel discounted despite what could be cool ideas. The ability interaction, psychonesis and some designs could really work but the unlocks of moves, damage and lacking options leave the player unasatified, just unfortunate. The character designs and some of them/interactions are decent enough (i like hanabi ok?) with bonding and the customization fun, but not enough. The characters are very tropes, this game just checklists all the tropes im not kidding. And as a kicker the plot just totally loses you. Its become nonsense, throwing terms, events things and anime at you without proper buildup pacing or explanation of what could be cool but ultimately completely loses interest. The sin of using big proper terms and just throwing stuff suddenly or adding more and more till its prime nonsense. The levels are very repetitive and human bosses stink. Ths game just does not have enough

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster6
Oct 1, 2025
Look, I tried it again nearly 10 + years later and i just dont get it. Its SO SLOW. There does not seem to be much to the characters personalities, dialogue or game that doesn't follow standard rpg stuff or crystal/ FF design its so standard in stuff and brave and default is just not enjoyble. Classes are fine but its so slow to get and it still feels grindy and like you constantly go to the side to fulfill main plot. There is just nothing to hook me or that stands out as a RPG besides the ost which i already know about. I'm sure its a fine if odd rerelease but I don't get why its enjoyable to repeat this multiple times for the true ending when the base content is so meh.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter9
Oct 1, 2025
I recently finished this remake after not being able to easily put the game down for nearly 50 hours as a first time player. Excellent. Thanks falcom, that ending broke me and i have to wait 2-3 years for SC remake. This is a fantastic RPG and exceptional remake that honors the original and modernizes things while keeping the core. I came to love the characters and 11/10 dialogue of this game so well, coupled with an engaging battle system, good music and awesome vibes, and a solid world to traverse. The level or character and dialogue of falcom is ridiculous its been some time since i was so impressed by this in a game. I can confidently say estelle is one of my favorites, and each character feels so fun and purposeful, even npcs changing dialogue and reappearing constantly. I do think the game is a slow burn with some need for more battle themes and relatively standard setting - a bit overdone on that. The fact that this is all a prologue is odd for my tastes but beyond minor and personal points I have thoughly been convinced in what this series has to offer. This game has absolute standout moments all around. 8.5/10

Origin is a really enjoyable breezy simple but effective action RPG. the spitework and design still holds well and the areas of the tower and more still are great. the combat is solid for the character i choose (yunaka) and just fun. The elements and puzzle parts with the areas plus what you can do is solid and bosses are very good overall. The story is simple but its in that approach that makes it charming especially yunakas simple determination and tribulations. Shes definetely the buffest meanest mouse ever and i love her. Really cool introduction and tower climbing runs with music design and enemies super good!

Oct 1, 2025
The hundred line is a great visual novel approach... for like the first 2-3 endings or so. The inital route and combat is actually really great in terms of characters and story/ mystery coupled with a unique and enjoyable combat system. the further routes vary sometimes bad sometimes very fun and the truth ending hits like a truck. I really enjoy the characters and flow of the better routes, and combat for the first few times. Trying to get more endings after 2-3 though? i cannot recommend. Its busy work with combat stalling in depth, repetitive scenes and ideas at times in routes and sound bytes. Its really best to look into what routes you may enjoy and play those. Its just burns you out and im just glad for the 2-3 routes i did total. Really good game 8.5/10 and really different.

This spidey game is very enjoyable with a differeng feel and approach with the protagonist that feels fitting. I really enjoyed the new powers and the story feels like a classic spidey story despite the odd factions and obvious twists. Objectives can still feel a bit checklisty but solving things via the new powers is quite fun and add far more to combat. Swinging is still great and i really enjoyed the podcasts idea. I do feel its just not quite as strong as the original but is a solid package and that the open world objective approach feels not very good. great game.

DK Banaza is an excellent game, with a few things that keep it from the best DK games out there. Platforming and hitting stuff is excellent, and areas are relatively fun and vibrant. The game is obsessive to play due to the terrain manipulation and monkey brain finding/ smashing. The finale of this game is SS tier amazing just wow. On the mixed side i did not feel the music lived up to rare/ the older games it was there but not iconic, plus level design felt like odyssey not like dk at times in old games were things felt more naturally built not just floating. Game is a bit slow in the middle and the check points system is not good man.Beyond those points this game is fantasic and the actual console seller.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge7
Jun 19, 2025
This game is Frustration defined. It has some of the best combat and encounters for ryu with normal enemies but some of the just worst boss designs and certain enemies ever, coupled with a story that is just is NOT IT, actively getting in its own way multiple times. When this games weapons, movement and flow hit inscenarios and certain ideas it completely hits and pumps adrenaline like no other, when it fumbles it really fumbles. The bosses are some of the worst ranging from feeling like you hit walls with inability to string stuff and cheap feeling moves, combined with extra elements attacking you or oddness feeling on Blood on steel mechanic. its not thats its hard its that its actively hindering player expression/ strings and just the bosses just are not fun to fight. The story really just is ugh. No only is the premise something it seems ryu should not have investment in, but multple times it just makes bad decisions. commits tropes by not attacking monologuing villians and forces the cursed arm thing. it does nothing for the series, its just actively nonsense or making characters feel not good. Blood on steel stuff sometimes feels very good, but sometimes just seems to be centralizing and odd. Additions like qtes and cimbing and areas sequences can feel awesome sometimes, along with cool new areas/ level ideas and atmosphere but else elements can feel repetitive. Music is still as good as ever. This game is just filled with some of the best elements yet the most frustrating and dumb decisions sometimes.

Fantastic all around experience for a JRPG. Action is really enjoyable with skills and options for each character and plenty of variety and potential combinations plus solid bosses and flash/ guard system. Setting is very good vibes and generally the gameplay loop of building up the island and exploration is really engaging. Music is really excellent all around. Main characters have a bit of tropes and could use more to them but are good-solid and very enjoyable, plus dana is a standout. Story is very cool most of the time and in general game feels like an excellent intro to series anyone can try. Bosses are sometimes odd mecahanically a but solid, the ancient species are a good idea / addition. Ending is a bit odd with conditions but overall the package here is excellent despite a bit of older visuals. Really memorable and great. 9 /10 great game would recommend.

May 6, 2025
Expedition 33 is excellent in so many aspects and so many ways, and its baffling that this is the publishers first game. Combat is mostly exemplary with hybrid system that is invigorating and exciting and classic minus the parry overeliance stuff. Dialogue is excelent and so is the fantastic story. The artistic nature and extreme FRENCH as heck ness of this game is so welcome and exuding from every part. The characters are great, and world is just art/beautiful as well as an absolute excellent soundtrack. I think act 3 kinda falls flat very much on the endings and balence personally keeping this from the best of the best. I do wish for some stronger personal character arcs (especilally act 3 dropping lune and sciel.) as well as minimap with odd feeling exploration that is mainly for secret bosses/ items, and odd minigames/ side content. I will not condone the AI issues and stuff here personally, i still cant get good info on it. Game is excellent by combining the good of the past with a new approach. it doesnt suddenly revitilize rpgs or do crazy new stuff but it does great withthe exisiting and makes its mark.

Okay but this game is fantasic, its pure addictive fast paced action gameplay with greatly improved weapons movesets and playstyle from the original. I understand the version differences, but the CORE GAME here is amazing. The atmosphere still rocks, and the other characters now play even better. So far have mainly played this version from the PS5 master collection. Original game still holds up very well, and is brutally challenging with the right itch to improve. The combat and gameplay is really fun once you get used to the agression and defensive style. I definetely felt the burn first time but want to come back to improve as i was just wasted by the difficulty. I do love this games excellent atmosphere, here its just alwasys "ninja hours" with the dark feel, weather and lighting. Theres some wild and mixed bosses but great tank/ helicopter busting stuff. The levels and progression feels good. Definetely enjoy some enemy design and the way it flows. Theres definetely some weird stuff, rachel is a bit odd to play and dang are some thing brutal and unfair seeming but damn when you get into its a brilliant feel of being the character/ master ninja. a great start.

This ones definitely a weird one. A successor to Madworld with a great cast and some legitimately great battles and online brawls plus cutscenes. Yet despite great rap soundtrack and some legit fun in the multiplayer, there's issues. The single player campaign is lackluster. The game looks dated for its time and not great, and there's definitely connection issues. Its just a weird not well handled release for a good idea but unfortunately the online is all but gone and what's left is a shell of what it could be. Its unfortunate given what things are like in todays world but this never finds its footing, despite some legitimate fun and good ideas.

I found myself incredibly surprised as someone who isn't the most into FPS sort of games that vanquish was this fun and awesome. Platinum's design shines though again with excellent depth is great weapons, boost mechanic and cover shooter segments plus ROBOT fights that amp up this game to pure fun while being tough but fair. The setting of this game is really cool and the sequences are amazing with a great final boss. The story is kinda the best nonsense and man the 2nd to lass boss is Pure PAIN to beat but man this game is great. Sam is incredibly fun to play as and there is a surprising depth to this game.

Sea of Stars7
Sep 7, 2023
Sea of stars is a good RPG with fantastic pixel art, areas and world design coupled with strongly engaging combat and bosses plus a solid soundtrack with some great hits. It does very well with a tons of fantastic looking areas, great and well varied enemy design changing up each area and a really cool world with some really unique ideas and sequences. For an indie game its really solid, with very few things that hold it back. At times characters and plot, moments feel straightforward and predictable classics heroes tales but enough solid moments and one that really hits home. At times the sequel being present feels like you are missing moments if you didn't play it and forces thing where ending will feel a bit abrupt or off. scope of world starting to outgrow some of what is presented. Main protagonists could improve and feel a bit chosen one. It could use more explanation of moments, motivations and expansion of story and especially gear system at times and skills towards end. The story and characters just are not up to snuff. But for what it its worthwhile time and feels like a good combination of the past and its own ideas.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition8
Apr 14, 2025
Xenoblade Xs base game feels like a very different fresh approach for the series and has a ton of great elements, However the newly added DE ch 13s content is completely frustrating feeling rushed and forced. The base game is great, its strong premise that lead naturally into gameplay with excellent exploration on Mira, whos geography is pretty uncontestable. There is a great progression of the city, it inhabitants and the characters that protect it, with a base solid story supporting this notion. The variety of characters here you can use is really filling. With the affinities and grounded approach they feel all intersting and fun to try. Tha main few cast such as Elma, Lin, Irina are great and different for the xeno series. The added characters in DE like liesel and neilnail are also great, though AL is very divisive. With the regions and solid enough story the game gives tons of player agency and expression. This extends to probably my favorite xeno combat system with multiples classses, and constant engagement through parts targeting, weapon options and allies and Skells. On the criques side i would say that relatively speaking while the quests vary, almost all of them are very similar in what you actually do: kill thing, collect thing, go to people and talk. It kinda blends together at times. The biggest issue of DE imo is the added ch 13. its complete tonal whiplash and takes away quite literally most of what you acheived in the base game not anwsering question from og in satisfying ways. AL is frustratingly in your face feeling forced and takes agency away forcing this annoying catchphrase and to try to like him. Void is just a nothing antagonist. The new area is way too late, and acts 1 and 2 are both rushed and draw out with rescue missions and info dumps. It feels like they forced connections to og trillogy misunderstanding what made X stand out and unique. What made X special is each players unique experience in gameplay and actions, and ch 13 completely forces their own story on you disregrading the player something I detest. I would say the base game is an great 8.5/ 10 but the new ch 13 is IMO below mediocre with but a few redeeming qualities. Glad to have base game more available, will just ignore ch 13 for now... a bad pizza dream.

What a start to clearly a storied series I had yet to try! The plot/ story elements in this game are top notch with such excellent moments in introductions, cinematics and approach, that keep one HOOKED. The combat is solid and enjoyable to use all around with the styles and options a good base, that i want to see more from. the setting is cool and crafted well for a small area. The side stories are so much fun and just such a good counterbalence to the darker plot. I found the minigame to not really be too involved but fun. I got so into the story it never felt the time to do them was right. Very worthy title.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink9
Mar 13, 2025
Relink is just kinda Awesome. What you have here is just a game loop that just kept me in for more hours than expected. You have great movesets on characters, snappy fun and hype missions or bosses and grinding/ upgrade loop being slightly addictive (for mostly good reasons) and a really cool world and huge options in cast of characters. The combat in this game is really showing its platnium influence and flair as while you have one main weapon each character feels just great to play with a great moveset and feel of use of abilities and synergy. The bosses and mmo combat actually soar because of the balence of expression, options, objectives and SUPERLATIVE boss design (these are SO GOOD!) Man the elemental fights, scale and certain sequences in this game SOAR It trouces certain other mmo systems with enemies having such a variety of attacks, phases and flow, while the player has equally good ability to make their skyfarer soar. I played katalina and zeta and man are they fun i could dragoon jump all day! Main story is a bit odd. i don't think having characters talking during fights helps with understanding so much at once and what the heck is going on at times energy, and villian is pretty silly. there is alot presented to a first timer to the series, at least the mini stories of each are nice and enjoyable for character. Also gotta mention the soundtrack is INCREDIBLE. Beyond some story oddness and maybe endgame grind, I think this dev really has something here to keep improving on and i hope to see what they can do next, because relink is Fantastic. 9 /10 Greatness.

Monster Hunter Wilds7
Mar 13, 2025
Now that i have reached towards the end of what i want to acheive in MH wilds initial release, around 40 hours in mind you, and have experienced most of what they have, I can say the game is relativey good. They certainly nailed some aspects like the combat and loop that makes MH so great. New monster are really interesting and engaging with some clear standouts and this title feels the most accesible. The main allies are very solid and travel feels cool. I did feel there is simply something missing, Feels like we need the G ranks, or slight adjustments or another mode. Performance seems to have issues, i did notice weirdness on ps5 in balenced mode, until I changed. The environments are cool in spots but many are very drab/ boring thanks to RE engine and choices, fluff on weather changes, it doesn't really change things and some map layouts with verticality are very weird to me to traverse while some areas are cool, others are relatively meh. Theres a weird mix between straight caves, wide linear zones and openess. I felt like despite the cinematic falir of the story it while having good ideas just was lacking. No you are not like the monster kid thats just what. Cool moments but nothing to write home about. It feels like another good entry but like its not up to what i was hoping exactly.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension10
Jan 28, 2025
Neo Dimension is a superlatively crafted JRPG that harkens back to the classics while still implementing the modern for a true gem. It takes a simple seeming premise that may seem to start with tropes and weaves it into something so much greater. It hooks you with sudden events, mystery and cool moments, then layers on good characters that grow in interesting and unique ways making them become greater into a wonderful JRPG cast up there with the greats. The CTB like combat is excellent adding in more with directing attacks and it becomes excellent with skill trees, builds, expression and challenging bosses. The dimengeon mechanic is a really good way to make encounters player focused. The bossses push the player in both expression and a puzzle like manor. Like it or not this game will push you, game over you and make your rethink/ rework and push levels but when you win its CATHARDIC unlike other jrpgs which feel like you can break easier. The world is well crafted and thoughtfull with interesting approach to the realms, and antagonists presented making them interesting and asking questions with a great sense of more complexity. I love how the voice acting and more added in neo adds so much to backstories and the characters its very well done. The music is really good and adding the choices of ff ost in neo makes it a more dynamic playthrough experience. The diorama made locale designs are wonderful and artistic and so cool. Sacaguichi the og director of FF proves he fully understands what made jrpgs so special while adding modernizations and elements to make this game masterful and really special.

If it "gets good after 10 or so hours" then its not really making a good enough first impression. This is really the series that people put so high praise on? The dialogue is so generic and bland, as are much of the cast, the game has loading and framerate issues in your face, and theres so much needless backtracking and slow paced drag in it. The combat is good and expressive, but enemy variety feels lacking and the meat of it comes in plugs which get added look at that 10 hours+ in. why? it just has a hard time getting going with so much extra needless stuff that needed to be trimmed. The finale is really cool but overall the game is lackiing. Not at the level people keep saying the M + L games acheive.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia9

GREAT, same level of quality as awakening with better parts in some areas, less in others. Story is really good with a solid setup and really strong equal protagonists plus generally good events and ideas. Character enhance this with a tight knit group that is elevated with both solid combat function and characterization. Solid supports enhance this as usual and provide more to the great group elevating them. Shoutouts to berkut an great villian for the game as well. Gameplay is solid if not as strong as the other games ive played, with very average maps, but good battle events for the conquest an journey stories. EXCELLENT OST again. I'm also one of the odd people i feel that enjoyed the dungeon exploration even if its simple. Really had a great time with this game and it bringsthings home with another great final map / battle.

Strong JRPG with some issues breaking out of the trappings of RPGS and atlus games in general. Excellent story for the most part with some drag towards end in length and with same pacing issues of atlas games. 2/3 into game it loses me. Excellent characters with mostly great + bonds So many of these are well written or even more consistent than p5. Excellent battle system i love the classes and strong press turns. Great world they have created. for me its great till the ending section where it falls back into jrpg trappings. The last section is very repeat bosses monsters areas, and most battles feel very tedious because of this with final boss feeling like an difficulty spike. In general the last section trended overly into "power of friendship" and just so many anime speeches or repeating the same stuff we already know like get on with it, when much of rest of the game felt grounded. I dislike to handling louis/ others towards end. It feels like his motivations are delivered too late and i generally enjoyed him more earlier. It felt like there were 3 crazy twists with story towards the end and cut content and just rush somehow. In general the ending left a sour taste because it's approach. Game is excellent but in general there is lower quality visuas/ stuff and framerate. My main strong negative thing was the dungeons were exteremely underwheling and meh, especially the side ones were repetitive and drab. Its a game that keeps a high quality with alot and is very good but man i just wish the ending didnt go that way...

Excellent ignore the stupid regular grifters saying stuff. Nixxes did a great job on improving multiple aspects that makes it really great! The originals story excellence still shines and the work they did on mocap and additions are well worth the upgrade. Again this is an fun hunter vs hunted combat with great options, world and story. Aloy is still great and now things feel even more vibrant. You all gotta ignore the people on here that trashed the burning shores dlc for stupid reasons.

Bravely Default6
May 9, 2024
Solid job system and epic music but I kept finding that the characters and story felt like "been there done that" it is the same final fantasy crystal plotline at first fine but very much nothing new. It feels grindy and I felt sudden difficulty spikes and samey-ness. The brave and default system seems less like a boost and break system from octopath, it just seems off. I really don't like the idea of repeating story beats and chapeters 5+ TIMES times to get to the final boss with relatively nothing or little changes to gameplay or story and refighting bosses and such. Seems like a slog why would anyone enjoy that? I respect what this game to a degree but i never felt like it came together fully.

Its boring. Feels like you need to grind multiple times before next battles to prepare. The story is slow and relatively uninteresting. The characters are very bland and uninteresting with few that have any decent weight. The maps and objectives are fine but this tactics system just feels off to the player input and agency. Music is decent but compared to asanos other works... I hate that in order to get the games real endings your "choice system" the real way to go is to not choose to get the true ending? WHAT? Other tactics games felt way more worth my time this offers nothing of strong substance.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom7
Oct 7, 2024
Echoes is a relatively ok Zelda game that can't seem to get out of its own way preventing it from rising up to the greats. I think they did a good job on expanding the lore and finally bringing back good dungeons and bosses. To me most of the dungeons were very solid for the system: faron, lanayru and gerudo being great, others being ok, and water temple is bad (again). Its better than some games especially TOTK and BOTW but still kinda "getting back there" there up with others despite a very good array. The lore expansion was really good and generally i like approaching world and map with crazy options for traversal and puzzle solving. The problems, main one: the UI flat out is BAD like real BAD. The scrolling system actively detriments the use of echoes, choice and hurts the combat. You end up using only a few strong / similar echoes because the atrocious system. MAKE IT A 10 favorites wheel why is this so hard? The combat and control feel clunky as a summon system feeling non interactive and hard to use. The frame rate was inconsistent doesn't bother me as much but its noticeable in overworld and does hurt summons/ flow plus just lock it to 30. it can't keep being like this 7 years into switch. Like the other Zelda games of late the story is very "nothing" same going around to help tribes and nothing developments that just feel the same. They tried with king and some ideas but its just feeling the Samey generic way. This is made worse by just rampant dialogue getting in the way, so much of it feels just nothing or like its overindulging or generic. Finally and REALLY i hate to say this I felt like Zelda's character and agency felt undercooked. The silent protagonist does not suit her, and to feel strong in combat you have to "turn into link" or summon strong monsters for you. It just feels off compared to peach showtime which has better moments. And it stinks that at the end link just comes back to do more to the final boss. For this game i feel it would be better to have a magic system imo for multiple of these issues and I'm not the only one who has this idea. bind being the only other ability just feels disappointing. That's the key this game is good but its disappointingly in its own way. I'm really not so hot on Zelda's future.

Classic. That's the best word for this game a pure classic managing to propel and save the series. Great characters, links, combat, solid story and ideas. Amazing, one of the best indie games and RPGS you can play. An amazing story, characters like Lea and so many more with such strong personality and emotion expressed through some of the best spritework ive seen. World depth, great maps and interesting events, amazing fun gameplay with builds, elements, and rpg choices. Excellent combat with elements, build up, and awesome boss fights. Great fun dialogue that always adds more to story and keeps the tone appropriate. EXCELLENT SOUNDTRACK SO GOOD. This game is special its just excellent. it really should be worth more than it costs with even an excellent added dlc that completes the story so well. I cannot wait to see what these dev do next this is a masterclass.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door8
Jun 3, 2024
Just like with Mario RPG i found this to be charming and fun. The dialogue in this game is just incredible where was this? The battle system is solid along with partners, good characters and AMAZING music. They seemed to to my understanding fix some of the issues with the original in backtracking and enhanced with area battle themes. Good work. For a first time player i do think this game has alot of frustrating busywork, with train sections, some running around for bombs (why), and more. Game is a bit easier not that i think thats really much to say. Bosses are solid i just feel like i may have enjoyed rpg a pinch more in instances. Plot was existant with maguffin quest thats fine enough but really doesn't do much more. Really cool areas though its a bit corridor, i think its better for open areas like future games. I hope they build on this style and make more.
