Rhythm Heaven Groovetbd

The most fascinating extra mode I played, though, was Beatspell. It's a small, casual RPG where you perform various actions by pressing buttons on beat. At first, this meant performing the same pattern over and over again to cast the same fire spell against monsters. However, as I unlocked and upgraded spells, I put together more complicated chains of offensive and defensive actions. Since this was all rhythm-based, making those input choices in the moment while staying on beat felt like freestyling, a nice bit of creativity in a game otherwise about precisely following instructions. It's a gorgeous remake of a superb game, with a lower price than bigger, "newer" titles. That has a lot of value in itself. [Hands-On Impressions]

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book80
May 19, 2026
Yoshi's newest adventure on the Switch 2 is a unique creature-watching safari that's more an open-ended puzzle game than a classic Yoshi's Island-style platformer—an excellent gameplay change if you go in with an open mind.

Tokyo Scramble30
Apr 14, 2026
Tokyo Scramble's interesting premise isn't enough to save the puzzle-action game from being one of the most frustrating experiences on the Nintendo Switch 2.

We tag-teamed the server slam to parse the good and the bad of Marathon's public debut, and after 10 hours of play, found it an engaging shooter with a few head-scratching elements. [Review in Progress]
