really stupid and not good you can't just get perfect in the level you'd have to randomly decide that you can attempt perfect and then you get three chances and then you may never get a chance to do it again unless it randomly decides to. lame. has no respect for players time.

Failed to hold my attention and entertain me as much as the previous entries in the series did. Too many of the visuals are very low effort; on par with WarioWare's microgames (which get a pass, as they are typically only on-screen for seconds at a time,) and the music is just OK for the most part. There's no attempt at a story (a la Megamix on 3DS) or a cast of characters (Rhythm Heaven Fever) to advance the game along, it's just a grid of squares. The series' staple sense of wacky charm only shows up in fleeting moments. Tight timing feels like a constant struggle, but this is less the game's fault and more a byproduct of modern day console latency (i.e. laggy displays, wireless/Bluetooth input methods.) It's not flat out bad, but it's probably the least inspired game in the series, and not a triumphant return to form. Even the Ado song is mid.

A pure gaming experience made by Nintendo. It's reasons like this that make us love Nintendo!

An absolutely fantastic addition to the franchise. Countless hours of fun to be had here either alone or with friends. Charming, challenging & unforgettable. 10/10

A great entry in the franchise. It offers a lot of challenges and modes to keep you busy if you wish to. The first few stages are kinda bland, but the game really picks up and offers some bangers, especially in the second half

A truly fantastic game! Surpassed my expectations by a long shot, tons of amazing minigames, fantastic remixes with a lot of creativity, incredible songs, charming and memorable audio cues, and the game is packed with content.
I also want to highlight the Beatspell mode, it is AMAZING! I was really surprised at how fun it was!
It is also the easiest game of the series making it good for new or more casual players, with no minigames that feel frustrating or unfair while still offering some challenge for experienced players in the later minigames and when going for perfects.
While playing it I get the feeling this game is more of a Rhythm Tengoku 2 than a Rhythm Heaven 5, and that is a good thing. I definitely appreciate more variety and experimentation while keeping the game simple, but not doing something way too different like the unskippable story mode Megamix had.
The sense of rhythm is more present than ever! It is ALMOST everything I wanted from a new Rhythm Heaven and more... if they hadn't COMPLETELY fumbled the art style.
The minigames that use the default visual style for this game looks BAD. And it honestly feels pretty simple to fix or at least massively improve. The biggest problem by far, at least for me, is how the line art of the characters was drawn. There is absolutely no weight to any of the lines, they don't get thinner at the ends, making every corner and detail look unbelievably lazy and amateurish, almost no even slightly sharp edges anywhere, everything is round and samey, and it completely breaks the very simple yet incredibly stylish art style of the Rhythm Heaven series every single other game followed to some extent. It feels like such a hard thing to mess up, I'm genuinely baffled that they got it so wrong.
When they first showed the game my expectations immediately lowered substantially once I saw how the art looked and the obvious problems with it. Not to say there aren't ANY minigames with the game's default art style that look good, they CAN look really great, but the artist missed the mark for way too many of the minigames, resulting in a lack of that important impactful visual feedback that made so many of the older minigames so memorable for the new ones using this default style. None of the minigames are really truly "ugly" though, just VERY disappointing for the series, and I hope that if we ever get a new game it goes back to the usual art style for the series, otherwise it would be beyond disappointing.
Thankfully there is quite a bit of variety of art style in the game, with many minigames not even having line art at all and looking great as a result!
I even actually LIKE the way some of them have these large empty spaces on the screen, it can feel otherworldly and I really like it.
And even for the minigames that look less than ideal, once you get past how they look, they can still be a lot of fun!
At the end of the day, Rhythm Heaven Groove is truly an incredible game, way better than I could have ever predicted the next Rhythm Heaven game would be, and even with all the problems I have with much of its presentation, I can't bring it lower than a 9.

This game SLAPS, the minigames are on par with the rest of the series and are extremely fun and the fact that there's 20 remixes now really makes it chaotic. The multiplayer is also really accessible and kept me and my friends hooked for hours. Truly a great package worth every cent and more

I've been a fan of the series since I first played the Wii entry... on an emulator. I've played every other game in the series (excluding the arcade port of Tengoku) and honestly this stands tall as another great entry alongside the rest. The minigames are still as fun albeit weird as they were back in the day. Not to mention Beatspell, the rpg side mode. This game is filled with tons of content, and a lot of replayability.
This is my personal GoTY and you are doing yourself a disservice by not at least checking out the free demo.

The game is perfect. Easier then the other games of the series. New minigames and a lot of cameos of older characters from the series.

It can seem artificially difficult if you play on a tv and don't have a low latency setup. The main part of what makes an RH game good is music and this game has fantastic music.

I didn’t realize what I had been missing from Nintendo. Rhythm Heaven Groove is a fantastic rhythm game, built around the clever idea of teaching players how to feel and understand rhythm while still challenging their skills. It features catchy music, creative minigames, and plenty of memorable moments. I had a great time with it, and I’m definitely looking forward to the next entry in the series.

I discovered this series on the 3DS, and since then, l hadn't really enjoyed another music game. All other rhythm games rely on visual cues and memorization. You appear to be practicing your rhythm skills, but, in reality, you're just trying to react to a bunch of fast symbols appearing on the screen. Rhythm Heaven is TRULY a rhythm game. All your cues are acoustic, so you can pass any level with your eyes closed. That really helps you feel the music and tell the difference, for example, between a 2/4 and a 3/4 time. I simply adore this game! After playing it for a while, I'm analyzing the rhythmic patterns of everything around me... Haha. The new songs, levels and side activities are fun, and the very recognizable art brings a lot of nostalgia. Just play this game and have a ball!

Urgh. This is so disappointing. Why cant I keep trying to get perfect scores and play this SINGLE PLAYER game as I want? whats up with only giving me 3 chances to try to get a perfect score? Why only make it as an event? Its ok to make it as hard as the game designers feel like for optional stuff, but limiting the gameplay is so ridiculous. Why should I be limited in something I payed for?

As a huge fanboy of the series, i've been waiting for a new game for ages, and this did not dissapoint, it was always fun and it only lacks boring minigames, not like the others that had one or other boring one, and it finally has the option for blind people to play the game which is always a huge plus, cant wait for more of the series.

As a longtime Rhythm Heaven fan who has played every entry in the series, I am deeply disappointed by Rhythm Heaven: Miracle Stars. I tried to push through until Chapter 12, but I eventually had to stop. It felt too long, too repetitive, and simply not enjoyable. After waiting around ten years for a new game, I honestly expected much better. My biggest issue is that the game does not feel like a proper evolution of Rhythm Heaven. The visual style looks cheap and underdeveloped compared with the DS and Wii entries, which had much more charm, personality, and polish. Many stages feel like only a few flat layers moving repeatedly, with very limited character animation. Some scenes even look like simple static images being reused instead of properly animated sequences. For a series known for its expressive and playful presentation, this is a huge step down. The music is even more disappointing. For a rhythm game, the music should be one of the strongest elements, but most of the new tracks feel bland, forgettable, and sometimes genuinely unpleasant to listen to. I can still hum many songs from the DS and Wii games from memory, and some of those tracks were so good that I replayed stages just to hear them again. In this game, very few tracks left any impression on me. The arrangements lack energy, emotion, and the catchy quality that made the older games so memorable. The stage ideas and small details also feel much weaker than before. Rhythm Heaven used to be full of strange, clever, and hilarious concepts. In this game, only a few stages stood out to me, such as the alien conversation stage and the sneezing moon stage. Most of the others felt forgettable, uninspired, or as though they were relying on shallow nostalgia rather than strong new ideas. I often found myself criticizing the stages while playing instead of enjoying them. I also cannot understand the extremely high review scores from some outlets, such as IGN’s 9 out of 10. From the perspective of a longtime fan, this does not feel like a 9 out of 10 game at all. The older entries, especially the DS and Wii games, had better music, a stronger visual identity, more memorable stage concepts, and a much more satisfying rhythm experience. I waited many years for a new Rhythm Heaven, but this entry made me reinstall emulators on my tablet and play the DS and Wii games instead. For me, that says everything. As a longtime fan, this is one of the most disappointing Nintendo releases I have played in a long time.

Peak Rhythm Heaven, lots of fun to play. This game is one of the only rhythm games that get me actually tapping my foot to the beat.

Absolutely loving the game. The mini-games are enjoyable, the gameplay switches up constantly, and there's a lot of content for a $40 game. The new perfect system adds on to an already challenging system to give the game more longevity. As a longtime Rhythm Heaven fan, this feels extremely Rhythm Heaven to me.

Rhythm Heaven Groove (although with some small style and musical changes) makes it seem like the series never left, the game is just as whacky, fun, and addicting as the other in the series and overall is just more Rhythm Heaven that doesn’t need a major gameplay change to be new and exciting all over again. The new RPG mode gets a bit repetitive, but everything else is a fantastimazing 10/10 🥹

Rhythm Paradise Groove is not a modern game in the conventional sense. It deliberately eschews many genre standards, focusing instead on a single element: rhythm. Its greatest strengths lie in the creativity of its minigames, its musical variety, and its unwavering focus on the essentials. At the same time, this makes for a highly distinctive experience, clearly aimed at an audience willing to embrace this specific structure. Those who do so are rewarded with a unique, charming, and surprisingly deep rhythm game. However, anyone looking for traditional game mechanics, expansive worlds, or narrative progression will not find them here. Rhythm Paradise Groove is not a game to be played casually in the background; it is a game that demands to be heard.

Rhythm Heaven Groove is the latest and greatest entry in the Rhythm Heaven Series, it's a fun game with lots of stages and it's been a long time since the previous Rhythm Heaven Games, however there is a problem, this game is on Switch and this game doesn't show the Switch's age unlike Fever did with the Wii, but the huge problem is the fact that the input delay on TV is terrible, which **** for a rhythm game, i'm in Rhythm Hell, except Handheld Mode has no delay, so that's good. -JB

This game is peak. As someone who has played and grown up with both rhythm heaven on the ds and fever. This game stands shoulder to shoulder with all the other entries and does not disappoint.

First time I'm playing a game of this series, and well, Rhythm Heaven Groove isn't the best rhythm game I've played, but it still is excellent regardless. It's packed with content and catchy songs. Gameplay is simple, but super effective, and the visuals are wacky in the best way possible. Besides some inconsistency in the quality of the mini-games, playing through them (and the side content as well) is a blast. Considering its budget price of 40 bucks, Rhythm Heaven Groove is a must-have (especially if you like rhythm games), and ends the Switch 1's lifecycle in the best way possible.

Okay, look. I am a massive Rhythm Heaven fan. You are not likely to get that perspective from any other person in this section. Therefore, you must be warned; the information in this review will likely only be relevant to other major fans. Rhythm Heaven Groove is a subpar entry into the series that I am ultimately tempted to put near the bottom of my tierlist. Is it a bad game? Not especially. In fact, if your only exposure to Rhythm Heaven is Fever's Remix 10, I think you'll have an excellent time turning your brain off to play this. I need to highlight that most of my criticisms are stemming from the fact that I have spent years playing these games. Neither the visuals nor the music consistently meet the standards established by the very first entry in the series. Some games could easily be replicated on Google Slides with no visual disparity. With a handful of exceptions, the first 40 minigames have music that is forgettable at best and actively irritating at worst. There is a heavy overuse of the same synthesizer in these early levels.
Another issue with the early levels is the amount of competency they assume the player has; that being virtually none. If you disliked Megamix's prequel levels, you will find the same discontent here. Not only that, there is a tutorial in front of every level, even sequel levels that add no new cues or responses. This is a waste of time. If you try to skip a tutorial without knowing what's in it, however, you may risk not learning very valuable information that will make-or-break if you pass or fail. This is due to the fact that, if there's a new cue or response added in a sequel level, sometimes that information will be placed *before* the review section... and sometimes it will be placed *after*. If you want to make absolutely sure you know everything before playing a sequel for the first time, you are forced to play through every new tutorial, *just to make sure*. This is a BRAND NEW PROBLEM that this series has, because no other game in the entire series thinks the player is stupid enough to not know how to play the sequel to a level they've already played. Groove *does*. If you are a blind or visually impaired person, you may have taken note of the fact that Groove offers a text-to-speech service within the game. This is a brilliant step forward! It also makes the complete failure to provide audio cues for some visual-only cues in levels even more embarrassing. Not to mention, enabling or disabling the TTS is the only audio setting in the game, and plenty of cues that have visual support are too quiet to make out if you're playing blind. You can't change the volume of the cues or the music. This is not accessibility- if you want to make a game with audio and visual cues accessible to a blind audience, you need to thoroughly ensure that your visual cues have audio equivalents. How is Five Nights At Freddy's 4 more up-to-scuff for blind people than this game? Did I mention there's 80 minigames? There's 80 minigames. A major chunk of these are sequel games, at a larger proportion to non-sequels than any previous entry in the RH series. Many of these minigames are "prequels" significantly lacking in quality, and a similar amount are sequels that are worse than the original minigame. The only reason there are 80 minigames in this game is because the previous entry clocked in at roughly 90 minigames; in turn, the only reason *that* number is so high is because 3/4 of them are ported from other games. There is no legitimate reason for this game to be as big as it is. There are actual reasons to buy this game, though. Beatspell is a fresh spin on the previous side-modes in other Rhythm Heaven games, and at times I actively prefer it to the main content of the game. Some minigames are standouts! Brolly Good Show 2 and Space Sentry are actively innovative; BGS2 is the first minigame in the series to be in a language other than English or Japanese, and Space Sentry's cue style seems to be entirely unique to the minigame. There's also a decent amount of fanservice- plenty of references to prior entries in the series are present in the game. (Whether or not that's actually a good thing, I'll leave to the reader). This game is playable. I personally believe it fails to reach the standards the rest of the series creates, but those standards are relatively high. And ultimately, it doesn't matter what I say to other Rhythm Heaven fans. You're going to buy it anyway.

I'd say this game is playable, but it's a disappointment. it does have good rhythm games but a lot of them are generic and have bad visuals, which gives the game inconsistensy in quality due to some games being well designed and some games being poorly designed.

Pretty good game, I don’t think it has any haters with actually valid criticisms, most the haters (who give it 1-4 a lot of the 5+ people actually have valid criticisms) probably never played it but have it a bad review because it’s Nintendo and “Nintendo Evil” and “not Mario so I ****!” One of the few Nintendo games with no (valid) haters (at least of what I’ve seen$

After ten years without a new entry, Rhythm Heaven Groove marks a welcome return, but not the leap forward the series needed. Like Super Mario Party for Mario Party, it offers a fresh restart with plenty of content on paper, yet lacks consistency and real depth. Its solo games remain charming and well-designed, while multiplayer gives the series its strongest new dimension. Still, repetitive modes, weaker music, uneven visuals, and underwhelming menus hold it back. Groove is fun, quirky, and solid, but it does not redefine Rhythm Heaven.

What an awesome rhythm game. I love my rhythm games and this is probably the most fun I've had with one since Beat Saber. Each mini game is unique with its own song. Inputs match up very well with the auditory and visual cues. There was a couple clashing music selections for certain levels but each one lasts less than a minute so it didn't bother me too much. I didn't have any technical hiccups throughout my time with Rhythm Heaven Groove but had a couple frustrating times when I hit a button the exact same time I've been pressing it on other notes and it would be off. That may be TV settings or just a skill issue, it didn't happen all that frequently but when it did it would ruin my perfect runs. Overall a fantastic rhythm game that is an easy buy to add to your collection right next to Warioware.
