In short, NEO The World Ends With You is massive. It’s a grand, modern epic with impeccable writing and almost as impeccable style that’s got as much heart as it does twists and turns in the plot. This is easily one of the year’s finest RPGs.

NEO: The World Ends with You is way too cool, way too fun, and way too good. For fans of the series, this is a sequel that goes above and beyond 14 years of hopes and expectations. For newcomers who have never even heard of the Reaper's Game, this is one of the most genuine, polished, and stylish games I've ever played. Personality and style ooze out of it constantly, and in a post-Persona 5 world where society is starting to clamour for more immersive and all-encompassing JRPG masterpieces, this might just be the next big thing.

I adored the first part, was truly elated when I saw the release announcement last year, and just fell in love with it from the day it was released. The best game I've played in the last 5 years.

This is a solid ARPG that shines thanks to its story, characters, setting and art direction.

A banger of a sequel that slightly fumbles the last verse. That said, it’s still a full-on earworm that’s getting heavy rotation on our Summer In Shibuya playlist. [Issue#5, p.72]

Whether or not you have completed the adventure starring Neku, approach the sequel without hesitation and let yourself be carried away by the Game of Demons.

A worthy follow-up to the cult classic original, with a great mix of Japanese role-playing and beat ‘em-up elements – even if the storytelling is sometimes hard to follow.

NEO: The World Ends With You gives players a tremendous soundtrack and a ton of content, and once the combat clicks, it's a genuinely good time. However, that comes with the caveat that players have to invest roughly 10 hours before the game really starts to be fun, and then they still have to deal with its repetitiveness. So as long as fans can put up with those issues, they will get a lot of game time out of NEO: The World Ends With You.

Lot of good ideas poorly executed. Scramble Slam is absolute garbage and a waste of time. Pacing ****. Camera angles go to absolute hell. Characters you are controlling are offscreen attacking nothing while you're on time limits. Game ends up more frustrating than fun.

Good - combat is unique. Charging attacks and timing them one after the other to build up an ultimate move feels great. The variety of moves gives depth to the combat in general. - they brought back the custom level adjusting which gives players a lot of control over how hard they want their experience to be, which is great. - the story and characters were very well written. The dialogue was very hip, and full of present day online references. I also liked how the characters weren't afraid to throw some curse words around. It felt more organic especially for the more hot headed characters. This should be adapted in more games. - the music tracks were of course phenomenal as always, and played at the right time to inflict the most emotional impact. - I liked how they brought back the old characters slowly one by one, keeping me drawn in to want to know who will appear next. - voice acting was very well done. - i'm glad i can buy clothing even if my style isn't high enough, and still get the base stats. Bad - the last ultimate move the game gave me was a little bit too OP. It was super powerful and refilled my health every use. - the hub world got way to repetitive. As well as the progression outside of combat. Felt like I was just trying to get from point A to point B, wait for some dialogue, then repeat. I can only handle so much going back in time. Eating at restaurants was only able to give a tiny bit of variety when traversing the hub world. - there were points where I felt they dragged a story event on for too long.

I wish I could like this game, but it's impossible. The story is okay, the art and music are just fascinating. that's why I hate the boring battle system. The battle system of this game is by difference the worst thing. spamming buttons all the time, plenty of skills are "spammable" and it makes the gameplay very shallow tbh. It's disappointing since everything else is just so awesome, but you can't expect me to play your game when the gameplay is so boooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiing and without any depth. I pushed myself to finish the one in the ds, but it won't be happening with this one

In the beggining i was so hyped about this game. The artstyle and the level design was so attractive. But the gameplay and the combat are so boring, repetitive and sickening. the first hours are cool, but whent the time pass, you´re going to realize that you are facing the same enemies, the same scenario and the same things to do. I don´t know if something change, I´ve played until the second week, and im not going to continue.
