Despite the moments that Lost Frontier falters, most of the game is a solid sequel that lives up to the Jak legacy. The platforming is a nice homage to the existing Jak games, and the flight combat builds a new element that feels both refreshing and familiar.
Despite its few issues, The Lost Frontier is yet another gratifying Jak and Daxter game that feels right at home on the PSP. While we could have done without the Dark Daxter moments in the game, flying the unfriendly skies and exploring the impressive Lost Frontier is more than enough reason to pick this one up right away.
As you might expect from a new developer’s take on a series with such history, The Lost Frontier doesn’t feel essential. If you miss this game, you’re not going to be missing any major plot movements or character development in the Jak universe (and don’t even get me started on the snoozer of a bad guy). But if you’ve been jonesing for the gameplay that made you fall in love with the series in the first place, The Lost Frontier more or less delivers.

Not as good as the original trilogy, but at least builds some on the franchise with airplane exploration and combat. The game also has interesting mechanics that were built over dark eco (and gets completely replace for Jak). Daxter gets new dark eco abilities. Also while the game starts looking a bit rough in the graphics department due to low-poly LOD background landscape, as the game continues on the graphics hold pretty well, while still not as immersive as the original trilogy. As a PSP game I think this is long enough and done well enough to be accepted in the franchise. But for a PS2 game it probably would look very dated and I'd imagine I'd throw in a lower score. TLDR: Lives up to the franchise on PSP, not as good but has enough heart to enjoy it.

Controls not nearly as well as the previous games. The upgrade syatem is decent. Dark Daxter feels pointless & those levels can drag on. Planes are a decent idea but take up too much time. Sides missions are just the same missions but more more difficult each time. Tym is a decent character. Powers are cool to use.

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is an action-packed platforming romp that punches above its weight and connects effortlessly. A Christmas must-have for young and old gamers alike.

The latest Jak and Daxter game on the PSP comes with some flaws, but also delivers a good gameplay, three different kind of action and plenty of missions. The Lost Frontier takes a little to start up, but then proves to be a product of great substance, very well made and full of good ideas.

Overall, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is recommendable. In spite of the camera issues and frustrating and repetitive elements of the gameplay, it has enough going for it to make the overall experience fun. I think that I would have enjoyed the game more if it was all aerial and no platform, though.

Jak and Daxter are finally back, but the quality of the gameplay in The Lost Frontier isn’t quite up there with the games on the PlayStation 2. The game tries to hide this by swapping different styles of gameplay very often, but this only ensures that the platforming isn’t getting the attention it deserves. However, the presentation is of high quality and it lifts this game above the average.

The biggest drawback of Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is not so much its boring, monotonous design as the overall lack of ideas. High Impact Games made a game “with cute little animals” instead of an epic adventure. It’s certainly playable, but it won’t make your heart skip a beat.

I don't think it's awful -- I just think I experienced the entirety of what fun the game has to offer in just a couple of hours, and then repeated this until the credits rolled.

Airplane combat is fun and innovative, everything else is a disgrace. Story and characters and lore butchered.

The Game wasn't even close to what it was before! Naughty Dog were not involved in the making of this game, so the replacement developers for this game had absolutely no idea what they were doing. They could have left the series on a high note but this is everything wrong wih jak and daxter all together. Awful, Awful, Awful game
