Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn takes the weighty feel of a Soulslike and adds mechanics that allow constant flexibility and experimentation. It also engagingly tells an interesting narrative without breaking the flow of the gameplay.
A Soulslike that flows like water, ends too fast, and is erased from the memory as soon as it ends.
Flint and steel accompanied by some otherworldly magic of rogue gods. This is what defines the death-infested and movement-dependent world of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. A “soulslite” title from the creators of Ashen doesn’t really innovate on the action-adventure RPG genre but presents players with unique and captivating setting, neat combat mechanics, epic soundtrack and quite a lot of beautiful landscapes to explore. Will you dare to challenge the gods?

An underrated game. The game is like a mix of Dark Souls, Elex, Gothic and Banishers. Critics were mainly due to optimization (1% lows and 0.1% lows + stuttering), poor advertising, and affiliation with a company that players dislike. Despite all this, it plays great, and the game is fun once you've developed your character. And when you do side quests and what best weapons the game is not short (40h).There are some nice puzzle game SEBO, though I didn't beat them all, maybe 90%. The music is okay, the graphics are appreciated after playing for longer, an interesting setting, fun exploration (with double jump and dash), and plenty of collectibles. And the combat is really good (two different ranged weapons, plus a melee weapon). My only reservation is using grenades with the same button as healing; it makes it too complicated. Parrying is sometimes too imprecise, but overall, you can beat bosses thanks to it, so it's okay. Besides optimization, the problem is fighting multiple enemies, but only until you level up your character. Perhaps the camerawork could also be improved.

A very good surprise for me. I'm 12hrs deep into the game, and i like almost everything about it. Of course there's nothing revolutionary, but i do enjoy the artistic direction, the combats, the lore and the characters. I really like it and i'm a bit sad that it's not enjoyed that much because there's love into that game. Give it a chance ! EDIT : I just finished it and i want a sequel. I've spent nearly 20hrs on it and it was a great experience all along, not too hard nor too easy, with a great final boss and a nice ending demanding for more. I want to know what the characters will become ! I think that in a world where people aren't bombed with thousands of games everyday, this would have been a great commercial success. Words from a big gamer.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an enjoyable and highly accessible Soulslite. A44 created a great entry point for the genre, not to mention an exciting fantasy setting that mixes black powder, magic, and influences that go beyond the usual European medieval style. The combat is fun and won't cause you to break any controllers. The story is also worth following, although the game perhaps end up too soon, leaving narrative and gameplay possibilities to be explored by a sequel.

It was a fun game that many people are missing out on for a very stupid reason. The platform movement is fun, the fights ar tough, the world is massive and secretive and the graphics are beautiful. I don’t understand the trend on hating something because of a smallaspect of the game. Give it a go, I had a blast and enjoyed my time with it.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an approachable action RPG with satisfying combat but a narrative that unfortunately left little impression on me. While combat itself is enjoyable, battle variety is somewhat lacking, quests feel typical, and the narrative is forgettable.

Flintlock is an explosive Soulslite that throws lots of weapons your way. The pacing may not be great, but that can be looked over thanks to the gameplay itself.

Flintlock is not the kind of game where you're going to see a ton of build variety. It's a stripped-back action RPG, sprinkling in a few souls-like elements to a broth whose dominant flavor is hyper-mobile combat and traversal that's never too punishing. It has its faults, from failing to expand on a setting that's only interesting on paper to featuring a prohibitive weapon upgrade system and some imprecision in its combat. It might not sit at the forefront of your mind for long after the credits have rolled, but in the moment, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is a rip-roaring good time that's likely to appeal to both newcomers and hardened Souls' fans alike. Hopefully more games take some cues from its uncommon approach.

Battles are challenging but never reach the nerve-wrecking tension of a proper FromSoftware title, though boss fights do come close later in the game.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn simply isn’t memorable in any way. It has perfectly fine combat, but it’s filled with little frustrations that bury the few innovations that work. Movement outside of combat is often unreliable and satisfying, and it’s all backed up by a story that failed to grab me at every turn. There are glimpses of good ideas, but none of them ever get fleshed out.

Game is fun to play, not too long to become boring. From technical point of view is ok, it even run on old 3rd gen I7 without issues with only some minor traversal stutter while changing zones). Story isn't bad but is nothing special, I'll probably forget everything fast. Better intro would probably help. Combat isn't easy but it's "souls" just to some degree, you'll not die too often. Can't say that I have problem with that. I'd give it 8/10 but seeing that people give it 1 just because main character is female I'll give it 2 points more.

soooooo overhatet!! Nice ideas and nice combat but its obviously AA and not AAA.... the animations are AA and some animations. Personaly I thinks the bosses are much harder then the rest of the game. I love the fantasy setting and the story (there isn't much story, only the dynamic between nor and enki)

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is A44 Games' bravest work and it impressed us in a positive way. The combat system and the dynamism of the battles are its strength, trying to capture a large audience of gamers. Exploratory freedom and design choices are an element that has been well studied when approaching the main quest, secondary missions and object searches. The game produced by Kepler Interactive is a large work and suitable for attracting many players but it does not make inroads like the original Ashen which shone with its own light. Certain design choices are not balanced with the challenge introduced.

Where Should I Start, everything in this game is as flawed as its implementation, you can see it from the very beginning of the game, and you'll see it to the end. It's a game that pretends to look and feel like a quality game but it just really is not. And don't just take it from me look at the character, the main character is an abomination of cheekbones and skin. The fact that developers at the end of their development said yeah this game is ready is probably the most barbaric misconceived idea that existed in their minds. Therefore I shall award this soulless game a 4/10. Do not buy it at release, do not waste your time, in fact just forget this game even exists.

It's unbelievably clunky. The parry window is generous, but it's inconsistent, and sometimes you miss the parry because you stand too close to the enemy WTF? The distance you need to travel back if you are killed is ridiculous. The world is empty and anti-exploration. The performance is atrocious. My GPU handles most games with Ultra settings easily, but with this game I get stutters with High settings.
