An unforgettable adventure that you can call your own, littered with amazing discoveries, laugh-out-loud tussles, and so much more just off the beaten path. [Issue#40, p.75]
To have a genuine love for Dragon's Dogma 2 can be a challenge. And yet, despite its many shortcomings, it's really, really hard not to love it.
Dragon's Dogma 2 offers much the same as the previous installment. Expect varied combat and gameplay options, a graphically fine presentation, beautiful soundtrack and a world that demands to be discovered. At the same time, it is unfortunate that the story is somewhat simple and short, the performance occasionally disappoints and the variety of enemies is somewhat limited. Points to consider, but that does not take away from the fact that the sequel as a total package is a must have for fans of the franchise.

More enemy variety would make this game a **** has one of the most beautiful open worlds ever created, and its combat system is among the best in the genre. There is no stupid quest-marker rally, no constant fast-travel teleporting orgy — the game does not hold your hand, but instead rewards you for truly exploring its beautiful world.A DLC with new content and more enemy variety could turn this open-world RPG into one of the best ever made.

Ultimately, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an odd combination between Skyrim, Elden Ring, and Tears of the Kingdom that scratches a very unique itch. It might not be for everyone, but it’s certainly for someone, and it’ll be exciting to see what kind of DLC Capcom have planned for it.

There are times you can feel Dragon’s Dogma 2 groaning under the weight of its own ambition, but the sheer confidence of its unfaltering vision keeps it surging forward.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is exactly what veterans will be expecting, as double-edged as that may be, but there's simply no other action RPG experience like it.

With Dragon’s Dogma 2 Capcom is offering a mammoth action role-playing game that will delight fans of classic fantasy RPG genre. Driven by missions that can often be solved in a variety of ways, sometimes even pleasingly puzzle-heavy, and an atomically staged game world made up of very varied biomes, you will experience a story full of twists and turns and challenging fights against huge monsters. Sadly, performance-wise 30 fps is the limit here on consoles. Also, sometimes you encounter smaller logical errors and minor visual bugs, but overall it’s a very entertaining title.

If this review feels chaotic, then that’s a fair reflection of the game. It is mad, fun, fantastical chaos and I honestly love it. Before I started writing this, I had left my Arisen and her endearingly incompetent pawn in an ancient battleground patrolled by a dragon. We blasted it with a couple of ballista bolts, and then it flew over and crushed the ballista with a claw, at which point I realised we were somewhat outgunned here and ran for some castle ruins to hide from the creature. This seemed like a good idea until skeletal warriors rose from the ground, and I realised the castle is extremely haunted. I don’t know how we’ll get out of this situation. But I do know it will be an adventure.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is outwardly hostile to its audience, embracing everything that made the original such a hassle to enjoy. A game designed with the purpose of wasting a player’s time, which makes Capcom’s “time saver” microtransactions all the more sickening. It’s a glorified xerox that you will adore if you believe Dragon’s Dogma was literally perfect when it released in 2012 and absolutely none of the progress within games development in the past twelve years meant one fucking thing. Indeed, if your idea of a good time is having a terrible time, you’ll love this malignant resurrection of ideas and implementations that should have stayed long dead.

This is such a great game and a lot of people are put off by the fact that you have to pay real money to buy a ferry stone to fast travel but you can get them by looking and as a reward for quests, i love the character and enemy designs, 10/10 definitely one of the best ps5 game in my opinion, i love how when you play as a warrior you walk around holding your sword in its sheath, makes it look real and weighted as well as the mage you use your staff as a walking stick, like Gandalf, plus I love how Greek mythology designs slip into enemy designs

The gameplay is awsome but story and characterwise the game lacks a lot of personality. Every Npc sounds the same and the story is very forgetable. Still, the combat is super cool.

This could have been a 9/10 game, based on: the excellent combat, multiple "vocations"/classes, high quality hand-made map, good graphics, etc. ---------- But it also has: - An intentionally annoying and limited fast travel. Made worse by quests that make you go from A (get) to B (solve) then A (claim prize) again, and usually B (continue game) again, quickly draining your fast-travel consumables. And also worse by paths that have the same enemies in the same position. Repetitive = boring, waste of time. Solution: let player buy many portcrystals, bring back eternal ferrystone from DD:DA. I don't give a s*t about your attempts to force adventuring on the player.- Really boring *main* quests, with misleading instructions. Zero combat, confusing s*t, in which I kept interacting with dozens of useless NPCs and then inspected every pixel until something happened and a cutscene was triggered. They made fetch quests look good by comparison.- Really s*t upgrade material design. I would play for dozens of hours, killing every enemy large or small, day or night, cave or outdoor, anywhere in the map, grabbing everything, and when the time came for level 1 upgrading any gear for me or my pawn ... "you have 0/3 of x material". WTF! I wasted all of that time!.- Underwhelming exploration rewards. Almost no gear (weapons, armor). Low amounts of gold, considering prices on vendors. Lots of trash loot, i.e. curatives, useless spellbooks. -------- And that's not even counting quirks I already was used to from DD:DA, like the (so bad it's good) corny dialog, or how stupid the pathing is for pawns. This was another missed opportunity. Capcom thinks all of this crap is integral to Dragon's Dogma, and wouldn't fix it even on a 3rd, or 4th game. Buy it on a really good sale only and use guides to lessen the annoyance.

This game has all the ingredients to be great, unfortunately it's a game stuck in the past. With poor game design, buggy guests, aweful writing and a slide show engine chukking out frames at below vrr treshhold, even on ps5 pro. It's got none of the QOL players have come to expect and it hurts, it's a game that almost was fun, and at times it can be, but the game hates you, you are not supposed to be having fun. Wandering? Enemies will fight you every 30 seconds. Cheesed and one shot by enemies? that's right. At least it's fair like Dark souls? No hell no it ain't. Pawns fall of cliffs and die for no reason? Yes. They have broken ai? Yes. Quests glitch? Yes The map **** and fast travel is broken? Yes. The health systems makes you want to eat your own shoes? Yes. And this list could go on and on. All in all,I pity the team, there clearly is quality here and I could tweak the game myself lnto 8 or 9/10. Whoever made these choices is a masochist, should be sacked, capcom should realise that about anyone could do a better job. I made an account to rant about this game it's just such a frustrating mess. One of the worst offenders in recent memory and it hurts extra because you'll always think about what could have been. A rare miss for Capcom.
