In retrospect Dark Matter should probably not have been released. At least not in this state. It’s a shame since there’s good stuff here. But right now it’s just an unfinished metroidvania clone.

Inspired by a number of popular sc-fi properties, Dark Matter held the promise of offering an appealing mash-up of Metroid-style gameplay and Dead Space-like scares. While it mostly gets the mood right, due in no small part to its slick lighting and audio work, its other elements barely range from subpar to serviceable.

The Good: This is a great game until it stops suddenly. The atmosphere, the lighting and the sound are all excellent. The gameplay is pretty decent as well. If this game ever gets actually finished then it will be a 9. The Bad: Unfortunately it is only about half complete. There are tons of things that never got finished. There's a teleport system in the tutorial that doesn't exist in the game. The game stops sudden at what looks to be the 40% ish mark and cuts to a black screen with about 100 words of text telling you the game is over. Overall: if you can pick this up for $5 or less on a sale, then do it. That is about what it is worth in its current state. A very fun 5 hours followed by a massive spike of disappointment.

The first impressions from the game maybe could be pretty good, but progressing in the game, you'll see many critical bugs; the gameplay lacks of fun. The aliens are ugly to see. It could've been a good game, but sadly too many things gone wrong. ****

Promising, and if it had the time to finish, or even start, it could've been something fairly decent. Oh well. [December 2013, p.84]

DO NOT TOUCH THIS GAME! AT ALL! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! Ok enough Caps Lock ride. Now the game is advertised as a full game with 6 hours of content... what? 6 hours? Ok. Unfortunately you can beat the entire game and get all the bonus stuff in 4 hours. Top it all off you get shafted at the end by a horrendous ending! You won't believe me until you see it for yourself so here is a youtube video for an example! ****/eTPS_GGhMqk?t=35s Please... do not buy this game. DO NOT DO IT! If you have bug the living hell outta Steam for your money back. This is b*******!
