What makes Crisis Core so great isn't just one thing, it is many things. The presentation is the best I have seen on the PSP; the gameplay is simple and addictive with a great twist on the traditional JRPG, and the story is emotional and fulfilling.

Crisis Core is a full, complete, dignified game. [Apr 2008, p.65]

Crisis Core is more than a nostalgia trip for FFVII fans - it's a fresh and exciting game in its own right, and arguably the single most impressive application of the PSP's power.

Super grindy but boy this game make feels it in my feelings. One of those games you finish and have a hole in your hurt for some time hoping for something could fill it but you know nothing can.

My favourite game on the PSP. I actually played this before playing FFVII. I loved the combat in this.

It plays like a dream, blurring the lines between both genres that it covers much more than any other game. And it looks the part too, as it is easily the best looking handheld game you'll see to date, along with God of War.

It's taken far too long for non-American, English speaking gamers to get their hands on Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. But the good news is, largely Square Enix has managed to live up to incredibly high expectations.

The simplicity and the gambling factor of the DMW are what make the gameplay so appealing. It’s fast, easy, addictive and perfectly suited to a portable experience.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core ranks up there with the best, showcasing the PSP’s audio-visual capabilities and delivering an RPG experience we won’t forget in a hurry.

Despite being an uneven experience, the battle system is sure to offer fun. This is a game that despite having several limitations, truly comes trough thanks to its high points. An obvious choice for fans of the game that chronologically came before it and an interesting proposition for any PSP owner.

How much do you love "Final Fantasy VII"? If your answer is anything more enthusiastic than "It's okay", then you absolutely need to play Crisis Core. [Apr 2008, p.96]

If the words "the death of Aeris" don't bring a tear to your eye, then dropping $40 on Crisis Core certainly will.

The story is 10/10, but the Gameplay and the skill roulette lose the desire to play a lot

It's a very good game and brilliant benchmark of psp hardware. Story is really touching but some little aspects are not quite well written, for me... But overall story is engaging and brilliant, really worth playing. Soundtrack is absolutely fantastic! Gameplay wise is not really my cup of tea... Too much grinding and too many random encounters. Graphics is really nice considering that it is a psp game. But last mission was such lame designed... Looking all over the place for some stupid chests only to unlock the doors... Sometimes really this game do not respect our time and that's why I highly recommend using cheats or saves from internet while you are feeling frustrated, because the story is absolutely worth it.

This game is horrible. From a poorly-written story that retcons events from the OG game that didn't need to be touched to annoying or bland new characters (hello Genesis and Angeal) you shouldn't expect the gameplay to make up for it. The DMW system is one of the most questionable gameplay mechanics Square has ever come up with and it's overall a pain to move around while fighting. At least it looks like Reunion will improve the combat a bit but I wouldn't expect anything amazing. The music is also mostly very forgettable (the new tracks) except for a few ones like The Price Of Freedom. Really never understood why this game is so beloved and probably never will.

Despite featuring a solid gameplay loop for a handheld action game, Crisis Core is held back by a woefully shallow narrative filled with bland characters and such awkward, stilted dialogue that it would make even Final Fantasy XIII blush. Crisis Core misses the mark of what made the original Final Fantasy VII special more so than any other "Compilation" title.
SummarySquare Enix is brings this role-playing game to the PSP the fourth installment in their Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series which includes the movie "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children," the game "Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII" for PS2, and "Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII" for mobile devices.
