Some people hope the game can be fixed with patches and additional features. I don't think so. The combat mechanics from ER don't work well for this type of game, and all the other things that made FromSoftware games great are stripped from this one. They missed big time.

Bad design - a puzzle/mystery game with RNG mechanics? All of the fun from solving them is shadowed by frustration and tediousness. Too much is dependent on luck. Sure, there are strategies to limit this, but you cannot exclude it, and in the end, you lose a lot of time trying to test solutions only to be locked out because of bad luck. It gets worse with every hour you play. Maybe you'll enjoy it if you don't value your time and are okay with doing the same tedious tasks repeatedly.

Very good. Nice story, and enjoyable puzzles. It's a bit of a step down from the first part though. The story is not as thought-provoking and goes into generic sci-fi and different cliches.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights9

If you enjoy metroidvanias then you should definitely play this one. Personally not a fan of the anime-style art direction here, but it's very subtle.
Pros:
- Gameplay
- Music
- Story and lore
- Nice variety of skills and weapons.
Cons:
- Quite short (took me 9hrs for a completionist)

Shadow of the Colossus3
Oct 15, 2022
Nice graphics with a unique atmosphere don't make a good game. The gameplay is frustrating, the controls are horrible, and the story is boring. My take on why this game has so many good reviews: is tinted nostalgia glasses. When someone was a kid and this game came out on PS2 the graphics were really impressive and the giant size of the colossi was something that was never seen before. It was definitely impressive for its time and memorable for sure.

This game is an unplayable mess. The gameplay issues are a disaster, the controls are one of the worst I've ever seen in a video game. Did anyone playtest this? Almost every interaction feels so muddy and janky, like moving through a swamp. The AI is terrible. Even the most patient player will be frustrated by this game. Don't trust the positive reviews (i guess here the most recent ones are the most **** here).

Very good. Worth playing for the story and emotional impact. The gameplay is in the puzzles and they're pretty good. Keep in mind that this is a very old game! The controls may be clunky but they are not bad. It's still playable by modern standards, something you cannot say about some classics like e.g. Resident Evil 4. It scratched that Nier itch for me (for which it's obviously an inspiration).

Demon's Souls8
Oct 12, 2022
I don't get why some people say that it doesn't live up to the original. It's basically the same game but with a modern feel. A must-play for soulslike fans, however, it's defiantly the worst of Miyzakai's soulslike creations. But it's kinda expected since this was his first take on the formula. It's still a joy to play, but not so much to go with several NG+, at least for me and I went through all of the souls game at least thrice.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut4
Oct 12, 2022
I really liked the story. I love this kind of crazy sci-fi. This could be a 10/10 movie, but it's not very good as a game. Actually, it's awful. It is indeed a walking simulator where walking is a chore. There are plenty of additional mechanics but they feel like they were put in the game forcefully so it won't be just a game of walking from point A to point B. Unfortunately, they are a filler and don't bring anything into the game. Kojima tried too hard to reinvent the wheel and failed miserably.

Alan Wake Remastered4
Oct 10, 2022
A lot of reviews of remastering, but since this was my first Alan Wake experience so I'll review the game itself. It's boring. 90% of the time you're running through the forest killing the same 3 types of enemies with the same kind of strategy. Every once in a while the story unfolds but it's a cliche horror story that could be compared to some mediocre adaptation of a mediocre horror book by some Stephen King wannabe. I got interested in this game because of many comparisons to Twin Peaks but it's a total miss - just because the setting is similar to Twin Peaks doesn't mean that it's comparable to Twin Peaks. It lacks the pacing, atmosphere, and mystery of TP by far. What sealed the deal for me was all the few of this game's puzzles. Why make a horror game and put puzzles with a difficulty for 5-year-olds? I felt offended, the solutions were so mind-numbingly dumb that it felt like the game treats you as an idiot. Absolutely cannot recommend it unless you're a lover of generic horror flicks. But then it's probably better to just watch some movie version on YouTube and not put yourself to hours of boring gameplay. Pros: graphics, performance Cons: everything else

Clunky gameplay filled with grind, boring content, unintuitive ui, pointless game mechanics and just overall lack of polish. I regret spending money on this game. The truth is that this game is much below average.

This game is massive. It took me 139 hours to finish one playthrough! Just for the scale, it gets 10/10. Since it delivers in all other areas as well - not to perfection, but good enough. For me, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 are better. I think the relation between the game, story, lore, and world-building sit tighter in the previous titles than here.

What is special about this game is the breaking of the 4th wall in a similar manner as in Undertale/Pony Island/Inscryption. But that's pretty much it. The writing was bad, the characters bland, and the story uninteresting. I had to force myself through this game and I was only disappointed in the end. The only case I can imagine when someone leaves a positive review on this game is if it was their first experience in this game's shock methods (breaking of the 4th wall) or maybe they didn't finish high school yet and somehow are impressed with forced edginess.

Nothing to add to the review by jwheeties that sums it up perfectly. Except that it's not worth the money - the current price of $20 is way too much for a couple of hours of an indie game. -50% at least is when I'd get it and only if I craved that stanley parable/portal itch.

This game is fully packed with puzzles. Puzzles are the best thing in this game but they also bring this game down for me - some of the puzzles are amazing, very creative and require a lot of out of the box thinking - however puzzles in this game are somewhat evenly distributed between creative ones, totally obscure and puzzles that are just chore to solve and not fun at all - sometimes you learn a mechanic and it's fun to solve next puzzles based on it, each puzzle gets more complicated or includes some twist on the mechanic - but going further it gets old and too tedious and there is no more sense of awe and discovery like before. As for the story it's decent but didn't keep me involved. Overall it's a good game worth a buy. It's quite similar to The Talos Principle but not in its league.

This is a hidden gem! Amazing art direction. Dark obscure graphics, abstract sound and music with a bit of jump-scares and breaking of 4th wall - all this gives a truly demonic vibe and makes for a very scary and mysterious game. Controls are tight and gameplay is well designed - it's mainly a puzzle game with a touch of precision platforming (that is not hard at all and is nothing that will get you frustrated). It's a short game (about 2 hours) but for its price of 5$ i think it's enough. If you liked experiences like Pony Island or enjoyed the unsettling vibe of Undertale then you will love this game.

Enjoyable puzzle game with exceptional art direction. Story is good but a little too generic for my taste. First part of the game is great but in the second part it gets very tedious - game could use a lot of more content for clues, because in the later part you're forced to guess a bit too much and instead of critical thinking you're trying random matches. Also I was stuck for a very long time because something that looked like being speared to me the game treats as being clawed - maybe there was a clue for this one but if there was it was way too obscure. For me it's not worth the full price and i'd recommend to get it on sale.

I was recommended this game after playing Outer Wilds and boy oh boy this recommendation was such a miss. Boring, tedious and repetitive gameplay. Story not moving fast enough and not engaging enough to keep my interest. For the first few hours i was playing on survival but the chore of managing hunger and thirst was too much. Then i switched to freedom mode but the gameplay was still a chore - too much time spent on crafting and micro-managing inventory. Finally i switched to creative and game became playable. I don't get how this game can have such a high score. Maybe it's fun for children treating this as an ocean-themed minecraft?

Very good sequel. There is a mystery as well as atmosphere from the previous title but it's slower this time - game gets weirder and more mysterious with every hour you play. The gameplay and mechanics are more refined. If you loved the first game for the story - you'll love this one as well (probably even more). Only cons: - Too easy - Could use more bosses - No multiple endings???

Only recommended for fans of the franchise. If you didn't play Automata it's better to start with Automata and play this remaster only if you (very much) enjoyed Automata. - Soundtrack 10/10 - Story 9/10 but you'll start to appreciate it very late in the game. - Everything else is average or just bad, especially sidequests which were painfully outdated even 10 years ago. Btw. so much 10/10's just prove that Automata is one of the best games ever made ;) I'm a big fanboy as well but... c'mon... objectively it's a below average game that only has story and music to stand out for itself.

Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma6
Oct 13, 2020
First of all, I'd really suggest to finish the previous games (Zero Escape: The Nonary Games) before this one. Quite enjoyable but definitely the worst of the trilogy. Plot got crazy in the second part (VLR) and here it goes even crazier but unfortunately ridiculous at the same time to the point you're not taking it serious. I'd still recommend it if you liked the previous games but be warned that basically all aspects except from graphics and audio are worse than before - especially puzzles, atmosphere and the plot. Getting the closure for the series is worth the gameplay. Just don't get your hopes up so you won't be disappointed that much ;).

Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today6
Jun 15, 2020
Nice setting and graphics, interesting story - unfortunately feels uncomplete since game was designed with sequel in mind, so I finished it unsatisfied with how it ended. My biggest problem is with the puzzles, most of them are fine but sometimes there is a frustrating puzzle that will make you go in circles trying every inventory item on anything you find until you find a match, game does give some clues but some are just absurd. For few I had to open a walkthrough and when i saw the solution it wasn't like 'oh, that's right!' - it was more like 'how could i find that out?!'

The Outer Worlds3
Nov 5, 2019
Kinda like Fallout New Vegas mixed with Mass Effect - unfortunately inferior in almost every aspect. There is almost no replay value in this game. Maps are so small you probably will explore entirety of them in one playthrough. You can also respec your character anytime so even different character builds don't add to replay value. Questline is slightly branching so there will be some quests you'll miss with just one playthrough, however, i wouldn't care about them since they're all just bunch of boring fetch-quests...

I used to think that i will always want more Fallout. I was pretty disappointed with Fallout 4 but this one feels just like a slap in face. F4 and now this have ruined my excitement for the franchise. As for the game - wouldn't play it even if it was free. There is nothing fun or interesting and everything feels like a chore. Even playing with friends didn't help. It just feels pointless. Along with bugs, laughable hack fixes, micro-transactions, technical issues, bethesda basically **** fallout's lore and evident lack of effort this game deserves only the lowest score.
