As it stands, "Ted Lasso" Season 4 is already a marked improvement over Season 3. And if it continues to recapture even some of the magic of the show's first two seasons? Well, that'd just be barbecue sauce.

You can't go home again, no matter what Ted says, and something about that initial spark of the series cannot be replicated. What we do get, though, is a thoughtful approach to reinvigorating the show, which becomes less about Ted and more about the people in his orbit, the ways in which they both embrace and push back against his way of doing things.

In addition to dragging the pieces into place, much of the opening episode seems meant to satisfy an impulse to show off Kansas City. .... Things improve in the more natural second episode (and improve from there).

Sometimes it can get carried away with the tweeness and it feels a bit "teen TV". But it is still uplifting, unpretentious, homely television with a string moral compass.

New Ted Lasso is the same as old Ted Lasso: a surprisingly delicate balance between the sickly-sweet and the smutty that leaves you marvelling at how they keep getting away with it.

At times, it feels like Season 4 is playing it safe by mimicking its original form: an unfailingly optimistic coach instilling a system of belief in a team with good reason to doubt him. That’s the kind of simple framework that should lead to easy wins, and yet “Ted Lasso” keeps stumbling over itself, time and time again.

Despite all this upheaval, the show’s creator, Bill Lawrence, and key cast do a good job of making it still feel like Ted Lasso. But it also feels pointless. And cynical.

They should have let Lasso rest in peace. Apple’s money grab bringing this show back leaves a bad impression of the Lasso franchise which had ended on a good note. Lasso’s smarmy shtick is wearing very thin and there just isn’t the chemistry of the men’s team to hold it together anymore.

The worst season ever and clearly this show has outlasted its welcome. Tried way too hard to be oh so nice & happy & positive that's it so so cringey. Way too much girl power **** that it's such a turnoff. Conversations are terrible. The female footballers tried so hard to look tough & manly it's such a joke. No need for season 5 thank u. Really sad considering i love the earlier seasons so much

First 3 seasons were amazing! I was so amped up to watch season 4, and then the WOKE B.S. began! Why do a TV show about a sport NO ONE WATCHES IN REAL LIFE? My favorite part is the fake ratings for this season 4. Are you serious with these ratings? Another amazing show ruined by the woke mob. No one wants to watch this garbage! There will never be a season 5 after this trash called season 4. Way to go on ruining another great show to cater to about 3% of the public! I'm sure this will never get published because it's what the mob calls politically incorrect. Thanks again for shoving this garbage down our throats. What an absolute joke!
