This is another inside clone. It's not even subtle. So, this is a cinematic platformer with a heavy emphasis on atmosphere and a vague story. It does it pretty well. But it's gameplay where it falls flat compared to Inside. The controls are noticeable stiff. But it also is not that good at communication sometimes. In the forest area, you are hiding from enemies. At one point a rock gets knocked over and 2 enemies come to investigate. I couldn't figure out that I had to hide in the log because it was completely solid black, and I could climb on it. Also, I thought my cover was blown in general. So, it didn't occur to me to hide there. The only reason I got passed that area was that 2 enemies froze and didn't kill me. So, the game is also a bit buggy. Even then, all I saw in this game was a weaker Inside. Just play that game instead.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition7
Aug 31, 2023
SoulStorm is an decent ish enough game. But it has serious problems and bizarre decisions. I like the direction the story, there is noticeably a lack of humor in this game. Especially in cutscenes. In game does have a fair amount of it. But the problem is that the game doesn't add anything to replace the humor. This makes the game feel a bit dull at points. The gameplay itself is a good expansion of New and Tasty. But there are so many minor issues, bugs, and bizarre design choices that it makes the game feel down right incompetent at points. Like there are sick Mudokons that you need to cure before rescuing them. But you gather the material need to craft an antidote. But once you do, you have unlimited use of the antidote for the rest of the game. Which, outside of story purposes, makes me wonder why they even bothered. This game is technically a reimagining of Abe's Exodus. But outside of the general plot with the brew and some locations being in the game, it is so different that it's not even worth calling it that. They also got rid of quick saves for New and Tasty. Which is kind of weird considering that the original PS1 game had them. It's not that big of a deal since checkpoints are like 2 feet apart. But there are times where it would have been nice. The game also performs poorly on Xbox Series S. The game stutters every time you hit a checkpoint. And sometimes the game will crash. Although I would say that this game is enjoyable despite all of this. But it does make me think that Oddworld Inhabitants should seriously reconsidering rethinking their strategy. Because I can see a potential disaster for the third game at this rate.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart9
Jul 31, 2023
This port runs pretty good. I am using a AMD RX 6600 with 32 GB of RAM. I did have some issues where the graphics would stutter during some of the rift loading times. But at worst it only froze for a few seconds. But this is my favorite PS5 game. It is fantastic, possibly the best game in the series. If your still having trouble getting a PS5 and you really want to play this game, then this is a good alternative!

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake7
Feb 3, 2023
This was a pleasant surprise. Although I never played the original BFBB as a kid. I did play the sequel which was The Movie Game. I was hoping for a Movie Game Remake. But I can understand, that it was probably better to a new game. But as the 4th game in the BFBB series, it surprisingly stacks up well. But I can't help but feel that it doesn't go that much above it's peers. The problem is that like the other games in this series, people who enjoy SpongeBob are the ones who is will get the most out of this game. At it core, it's a pretty good platformer. But is nothing outstanding. Another issue is that it also doesn't really brings any improvements that BFBB sequels had. Like the upgrade system from The Movie Game. In fact it even sort of regress from BFBB. The collectables are just used for costumes. They are not tied to progression or even again the upgrade systems from The Movie Game. What's worse is that Patrick and Sandy are not playable. I know they weren't as fleshed out as SpongeBob in BFBB. But The Movie Game addressed that issue. Sandy was removed, but they made Patrick more fleshed in that game. But in defense, they did give SpongeBob more abilities to make up for that. These abilities are really fun to use. I even like they are some shortcuts you can take if you think outside the box. The levels are very fun and creative. This game clearly has a lot of effort put into it. But despite it's simplicity, I couldn't put this game down. The only real issue here is that there are some bugs and some poorly thought out moments. It is definitely worth playing if you like SpongeBob.

Resident Evil 38
Jan 10, 2023
I really enjoy this game. But yeah like many people said, this doesn't quite match Resident Evil 2 Remake. I'm also aware that areas from the original game are not here. This plays nearly identically to RE2 Remake. But this game does try to throw a new spin on it. RE2 tension was more around the long term planning. "Which zombie should I kill? when am I going to run into MR X? or what if my plan goes horribly wrong?" In this game, tension comes from how nonstop the danger is. Although at first the game wasn't quite clicking with me. It's when Nemesis is introduced in the city when it all comes together. I know many are disappointed that he is scripted unlike MR X. But I feel that kind of helps with the nonstop tension. And because of that, it also allows Nemesis to do thing MR X could not do in RE2. The only issue I found with that fact that this uses RE2 Remake assets is that it does lead some mechanic clashing. Stealth isn't a thing in the game unlike RE2. Expect for when Lickers show up which are clearly ripped from RE2. Which there are only 2 in the whole game. But the ultimate problem is that even if we ignore how this is a remake. It doesn't offer as much as RE2. This game only has one character with one scenario. Unlike RE2 2 Character with 2 scenario each. This game scenario is maybe slightly longer then a RE2 scenario. But this is a 6 hour campaign. Also RE2 Remake is just better in general. So I would recommend RE2 Remake first. But if you really enjoyed RE2 Remake and you want more, then I can recommend this game!

Sonic Forces6
Jun 5, 2022
If you asks me, I generally think this is an decent game. But I will agree that this is not Sonic at his best. Still it can be kind of fun, and it doesn't overstay it's welcome. But I feel like the biggest problem is that the legacy of this game is dependent on Sonic Frontier. If Sonic Frontier turns out to be bad, then this game will be lookback on as a bad game that started sonic fall from grace... again. But if Frontier is good, then people might lookback on this... Well maybe not completely positively. But could be seen as just a moment where Sonic stumbled before regaining his footing. But was kind of fun. I don't know, I can recommend this game on sale for cheap at the least.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate7
Mar 14, 2022
From what I played, it seems pretty stable. A lot of it does at least check out. Honestly none of the new features really change anything. With that said, the original Wii game was great, so this is technically great too. Honestly the thing that threw me off was that fact that O was the default boost button, not the square button. It just that this port was clearly rushed, and this is something that constantly happens in Sonic. And that has lead to stuff like Sonic 06 and plenty of other Sonic flops. Just seeing it still being practice here, is not just not a good sign for Frontier. But this is fun, but I would still give this a cautious recommendation.

Thrillville7
Jan 18, 2022
This is nice and I really do mean that. But there are a bit too many faults that make it difficult to say if this is really a great game. I do enjoy it. But it feels like it falls into the same problem that a lot games that claim they "Allow the player to create what they want" Is that you find yourself with a game that feels bare bones on objectives. So the game add missions to progress which kind of undermines the whole creative aspect. Still there is enough balance between the 2 to be enjoyable. The game also claims to have games within the game. To be fair, most are actually decent and can be a neat time killer. But most are rip offs of other games, or shallow attempts at certain genres. The graphics are a bit sub par. There not really bad, but do give off a slight unpolished feel to them. But there is something satisfying about building a theme park. Planning things out and watching your stats increase. That is enough for me to at least recommend checking this game out if your curious. This might be because of my nostalgia, but I do think this is kind of neat.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart9
Dec 28, 2021
After the fantastic remake of the original game, we finally get a new game after 5 years. It's biggest problem is that it's PS5 exclusive. You can't get it on PS4. Due to the shortage of PS5's, it means that being able to play this game might be a struggle. But if the biggest problem is not being able to play it, then that is a really good thing. Yeah this game is great! What was surprising to me is how fast paced the game is compare to other more recent entries. This game has a very chaotic pace not seen since Up Your Arsenal. The PS3 games and even the remake were notably more slower pace then the original PS2 games. It is very welcoming to see that again! Even the writing seems more like the original PS2 games, although not by too much. But it's also still welcoming. Overall a great game and highly recommended for all PS5 Owners. It's worth buying a PS5 for this. And it is even worth robbing PS5 scalpers if it means you can play this game! If nothing else, it is a very welcoming improvement for the series.

Halo Infinite9
Dec 9, 2021
This is excellent, but I can help but shake the feeling that this could have been a bit better. The open world works for the most part, and I love how you get to rebuild the UNSC forces. But my problem is that it's all the same forest environment. The game wants to recreate the feeling of the original game. So it's a miss opportunity, to not add the environments for Halo CE. Enemy encounters were also changed. Enemies feel a lot more threatening than before. This is the most obvious with grunts as they actually feel somewhat of a threat if your not careful as they try to flank you and throw grenades more often. Just more aggressive behavior in general. Although I hate that you can't change difficulties during the main game. You have to restart your game if want to change the difficulty. The game will at least keep you busy, and the new abilities are fun as well. Combat in general is just as fun as ever. This is definity a great game, and there are signs that this might only be the beginning!

I don't know what the make of this game. Although I mean that in sort **** way. The game is all about it's amazing surreal atmosphere and environment. But the gameplay is pretty much Tiny Wings in 3D. In other words, it's not that deep. Although it can be satisfying to pull off a long jump. It reminds me of Limbo where the gameplay was a bit shallow and basic, but the presentation was outstanding and more then made up for the gameplay. It's on Xbox Game Pass, and it's worth checking out there.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond7
Nov 24, 2021
This is nice, but feels somewhat lackluster as a remake. Pearl was the first Pokemon game I played. So it was kind of sad to see that a lot of the core design remains unchanged and somewhat outdated. Like online trading is exactly the same. None of the improvements brought by later games are here. At least shared EXP introduced in X and Y is here. That is nice at least. Core issues like slow battles and HM's were fixed. But they cheated to fix it. Like with HM's, they didn't redesign the game or add any major new features. It just simply allows you to use HM's without needing you to assign them to a Pokemon. It honestly just seems like the same game just in 3D. I'm okay with the graphics, there sort of doing it like in Link's Awakening. But what ultimately disappoints me is how this compares to Ruby and Sapphire Remake. I had no love for the original games since I didn't grow up with them. But I love the remakes of those games. Now 7 years later I finally get a remake of my first Pokemon game and, it feels lazy. With that said, there is plenty of enjoyment to be found here. But I won't expect something on par with Omega Ruby.

Nov 22, 2021
I was kind of upset when I found out this game wasn't backward compatible with the Xbox 360. But now it was given a digital release when Microsoft released 70 old games for there 20th birthday. The game is nice. It is fun to make things go boom. It does have those annoying escort quest. It also has some outdated controls which can be awkward. Most of the game is spent in vehicles. So the controls work there. But on foot sections are a bit awkward to control. The on foot sections are the weakest part of the game. They feel tact on like the developers were afraid that player weren't buy the game if there wasn't some Jedi action. But there ok, and only make up a small portion of the game. The game also seem to lack with combat tactics. It's pretty much kill them as fast as possible with very few ways to dodge enemy attacks. But it, just fun to make thing explode. It's a good game that is worth it's 10$ price if you want a fun simple game.

Metroid Dread9
Oct 21, 2021
Metroid Dread is very well done, but it has a few faults. I like that the game is hard, but is very fair. It offers no difficulty options which is nice since that mean I can't wimp out of the challenge. The game rewards being good at it. But it's also not too hard to be good at it. That I like as it feels very satisfying. However, the game is kind of slow at the start and the game often railroads you down a certain path. That would be fine and even helpful, but it sometimes limits your ability to explore. Also the EMMI's are a bit of a let down. Not to say there is no tension. But I am a complete wimp at horror games and yet I didn't find them scary shortly after encountering them. There are also hardly any punishment for being caught. But it is a little scary to hear there beeping in the distance at least. I wouldn't say this is a total pick up. It just that it's 60$ and may not be for everyone. So maybe consider this one with caution. But it is going to be a good time if you do.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania9
Oct 7, 2021
It's a great recreation of the the first 2 monkey ball games. I love the first 2 games, but pretty much nothing else in the series. This for the most part thankfully changed that. However, it's not prefect. The physics are not one to one. I can't blame Sega on that since I think it's just one of those things where even having one minor variable slightly off can really throw off the physics. So it is impressive that the game is close. But it does make a few stages really hard. I'm also not sure what to think of the removal of lives in challenge mode. On one hand, it removes one of it's appeal, but it also makes it more relaxing. Maybe an option would have been nice. Or at the very least, make the extra stages the reward for not falling out too much. But it does have all of what I love about the first 2 games. The extra stuff makes what already 2 great games in one even more great. I still had the same I had when I played the original games over a decade ago. And honest, I think that's what matter here!

This game feels like a stopgap. Just something to hold Xbox Series Users till Halo Infinite or any other major release on that system. Mass Effect Legendary Edition9
Jun 20, 2021
This is a good next gen port, but it might not be for those using Xbox Ones or PS4's. The graphics are improved, but it's not that much of a jump. It looks barely above the systems the originals were made for. ME1 got a few chances, but ME2 feels exactly like the original game. This may not be worthwhile for anyone who still has Xbox Ones or PS4's, in fact the original games are backwards compatible on Xbox. But if you have the series S or X or PS5, this might be one to check out for the next gen features. The series X runs at 120 fps. I played it on the Series S, but it still achieved 60 fps and extremely fast load times. And ME2 is one of my favorite games of all time, and it's nice to see it unchanged. So the games themselves are still excellent.

Battalion Wars 28
Dec 16, 2020
This is a fun strategy and unique game. It's very rewarding for a plan to be successful. And also to blow stuff up. The only compliant I have is when you lose units over bad luck or when things are out of your control. Mainly with air units. I set them to wait mode, but they keep picking fights and going to the exact place I don't want them to go. And then they get killed because that place had anti air defense. I lost a bomber in the 2nd to last mission because of that. Also the multiplayer mode is no longer around. You weren't missing too much expect maybe the co op mode. It wasn't much. 3 game modes and 4 to 6 maps each. The only thing I hear about it is that assault mode was badly unbalance. The difficulty is not as hard as the first game, but by endgame it is up there. But this one that you might want to check out.

Nicktoons Unite!4
Sep 24, 2020
I can tell that the developers really tried with this. 4 nicktoons characters fighting together with there own abilities and mild RPG is a great concept. There is some clear love by the developers with references to each characters show. However, the game was clearly made in a year. The game is slow, clunky, and sometimes frustrated. Character abilities, which cool on paper, are clunky to activate and only really slows down any flow that combat may have had. Not help that enemies block half your attacks. Enemies also use that the gain a free hit. Unless you block, but that drains your energy which you need to use your abilities. See the problem here? The presentation also ****. Stages have little color and filled with fog. The music is very quite. In fact, it's barely music at all. Also the O button is jump. I know it's the only PS2 game to do so (Kingdom Hearts). But considering that this was my first platforming game, that kind of messed me up. Bottom line, this could have good, but small development time made just bad.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars10
Sep 19, 2020
Yes, the limited time release is stupid, yes the absence of Super Mario Galaxy 2 is puzzling, and yes the ports are inconsistent. But these are still excellent games. The graphics are the same, but the resolution are improved. The use of HD rumble is a cool touch. I like that in SMG the tutorial images are different to match the Switch, but still match the art style of the original. That also a cool detail. If you have to keep the graphics the game in a port, this is how it's done. If it wasn't for the limited time release, I would recommend this over Odyssey and call it a Switch Essential!

Unexpectedly Great. Most of the party games are very fun with maybe a few misses. The movie scenes are a great way to reward the player for winning. If you and your friends love Spongebob and want a party game with no luck (Unlike Mario Party) then I highly recommend this!

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated7
Aug 18, 2020
Now this is still a good game. However, I never played the original growing up. (Unless you count the PC version) I don't really have much love for this game. This is a good game, but it won't be anything special for non Spongebob fans. It just not that interesting compared to Mario games. I did play the movie game which was sort of a sequel to this game. Now maybe the movie game is better then this, and I can point to several reasons why that is. But the movie game does have problems. But because of my nostalgia for that game. I think highly of that one, and because I don't have nostalgia for this game I only think this is just good. I think that's the problem with this remake. You have to have some love to the original or at least the source material for me to recommend this.

One them found me and I entered a house and locked the door. The zombie got in though another way. However, when I shut the door, my rifle disappeared completely. I had to use my fist. My attacks didn't land. I decided to run. However, the zombie keep hitting me even thought I was 10 yards away. After that I shut off the game. Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island5
Apr 18, 2020
I decided to play this game after several years of not playing it because I was a little curious and had nothing better to do. I had low expectations for this game and sadly the game does not exceed those expectations. As a mindless beat em up, it can be kind of fun at first. However, boredom and repetition quickly set in. I was already bored with this game half way though and consider that this game is only 2 and a half hours, that's pretty pathetic. The biggest problem is that you pretty much saw everything the game offers after the first level. On top of that, the game is extremely easy. I didn't even die once in the game, and there was only one time where my life bar went into the red. The models are sub par for PS2. But the graphics are overall colorful and the music can be good in a few spots. If you have some nostalgia to this game or Nicktoons as a whole. Or you have a friend with nothing else to play. Then Battle for Volcano Island might be okay, but otherwise there no need to play this.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX is not a flawless experience. The gameplay can be a bit repetitive, but is fairly solid outside of RNG the game make you deal with! The game is also noticeably easier compared to the other games, but that might be a good thing for some. Otherwise Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is a fun experience that proved a good story and fun gameplay!

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD7
Jan 31, 2020
OddWorld games are known to being unique, this game is no exception. However, the game combat and bounty system can be frustrating. When the game puts you against 5 enemies, It is really fun and creative! However, when put against 10 enemies it annoying. The problem is that the game encourages you to capture enemies. The ammo you fire is designed to knock out enemies. However, capturing the enemies after a KO often puts you in harms way and gets you killed if your not careful. The core mechanics just don't mesh will together like some of the other OddWorld games. For maximum enjoyment, save often as the game might put you in a near impossible moment if you don't bring enough ammo. Also just play on easy, it minimizes a lot of the problems in the game. I would recommend watch a YouTube video on this game to see if something you really want!

I couldn't get into this one that much, but at the same time I really couldn't put the game down too. Wolfenstein 2 is a generic FPS with not much creativity. The game play is fun, but really repetitive after awhile. The campaign is longer than a stander FPS along with some side mission, but their's not a whole lot to do after that. I wait for a price drop.

Super Mario Odyssey9

The tight controls and open world game play makes Super Mario Odyssey a blast to play. On top of that, the graphics make this game gorgeous to look at. It's not as good as Galaxy 2, but it still a fun game from beginning to end.

This game is creepy horror done right. While there little to no jump scares, The game creepy atmosphere and graphics as well as the music keeps me intense though out the whole game. The game also loves foreshadow which add to the intensity. The controls are very simple and easy to get use too. The narrative is brilliant. Overall a game worth it's 20 dollar price tag.

A game I would want to like, but is faulted by 2 major problems. One, the controls are overdone and do not respond half of the time. Second, the check points are to far apart from each other. Often I would make it though a tough part only to be killed thanks to the control. I like the graphics and atmosphere but it's too frustrating to play. Play Inside instead of this.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness8

Like the first game I have not beaten this game yet, but got somewhere to do a review on it. Like the first it has a really good story. However, the story is also the same thing at start. I know the game get's more interesting as you go on, but it mostly the same. The story is still good to say the least. The gameplay is a different story. The gameplay is almost the same as the first game. All of the problems still remain. Some mini games where added here, but they do not really add anything too the game. The only real thing added to the game is that added outlaw missions; where, the dungeon ends with a boss fight. however, the game is still fun through. The game looks better then the first game with more detail. The music is a step up and sounds up to date; however, the music itself is just ok. There are a few good tracks here and there at least. Overall as a sequel it fails as it improves little over the first game. As a game itself it's great. However, if you don't like see the same thing in a sequel I would not suggest paying a lot for this game or just not play it at all.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team9
Aug 16, 2016
While I have not gotten very far in the game I figure I can review with what I got. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a Turn based Dungeon crawler. One thing that this game is known for, as well as the whole series is the story. The story is that you were turned into a pokemon and taken to a alternate pokemon universe where pokemon can talk and pokemon are the only things in that world. Your meet your partner and you pretty much wonder why you were brought to this world. The story is very lighthearted and interesting. The world actual feels like a fantasy world with interesting things in it, and worth exploring. The story is great, but then there the gameplay. The gameplay can be pretty fun, but it suffers from a lot of problems. Like I said the game is a turn based dungeon crawler. You move through a the dungeons trying to find the stairs to the next floor, and fight a boss at the end if there is one. While that happening you got to manage your hungry, find the stairs, and try to survive enemy encounters. The enemies can be very tough. Another thing this series is known for is how hard these game can be sometimes brutal. The biggest problem is how randomize the game can be. The deal is that dungeons are randomly generated and they are never the same if you re enter the dungeon. Sometimes the stairs will be right next to where you spawn, but other times it can be a far away from where you spawn. Depending on your situation it can make getting through some of these dungeon a bit luck based. Overall still enjoyable gameplay. The graphics are fairly good from a ds. The music is not very good with some of it sounding out dated. Overall I recommend this game at any price.
