Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake is a colorful, creative and funny platformer that will keep any yellow sponge lover entertained for hours. Despite the one-sided side missions and weapons arsenal, exploring the seven absurd and recognizable dimensions is fun for both young and old.

Ideal for kids, its a great game to bond over between parents and children with a bit of old-fashioned gamepad swapping.

Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake is a 3D platform that fans of the cartoons will enjoy, even if it lacks that stroke of genius that would have allowed it to be more memorable.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is a solid game for true fans of the TV series and a way to introduce young gamers to the platforming genre. While its graphics and design improve on SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom-Rehydrated, the lack of diversity in the Jelly enemies and Wishworld designs will be a turn off to some. All the same it's worth checking out for the endless references to the show.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake represents a setback compared to what was seen in the remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom, which should be the standard, especially since this is a game with an "original" proposal. Without problems, it can be an introductory experience to gaming for children and youth audiences, but outside of that group and if you are not a fan of the series, better watch an episode or its movies.

SpongeBob Cosmic Shake is a small but decent platform game without much pretension. THQ's title prefers to capitalise on its accessibility and fan service rather than trying to offer a dense and deep adventure. A choice that will certainly delight the youngest, but much less the older fans. The game is indeed content with the bare minimum regarding its structure, its writing and its gameplay and if it succeeds in what it undertakes, one can only complain that it really does too little. And it's a pity, as the universe lends itself well to it.

Honestly a pretty decent liscensed game. It has some pretty decent humor, pretty decent platforming, and not too many bugs. The controls don't feel the greatest, but this is offset by the small punishments for mistakes, never setting you back more than a couple minutes. I'd rate it higher, but the commentary from Patrick every time you pick up the 10,000 collectables really grinded on me.

While this 3D platformer isn’t going to match up to games like Ratchet & Clank: Rif Apart, it is still a wonderful platformer that picks up where Battle for Bikini Bottom left off. I really enjoyed the various worlds to explore, the story and characters were just what you’d expect from SpongeBob and the platforming itself is great. The game isn’t perfect and it could have benefited from a larger budget, but if you enjoyed Battle for Bikini Bottom, then you will love this one. I actually think The Cosmic Shake is better. They really don’t make these great 6th-gen-style 3D platformers anymore and this one is a good one. If you love SpongeBob (who doesn’t? I’m in my 40s and I love the show), aren’t too macho to enjoy a great little cartoon platformer and just want to have some dumb fun, then get this game.

Cosmic Shake unterbietet den Humor von Spongebob Schwammkopf. Das Spiel ist weder lustig noch groß unterhaltsam. Allenfalls Beschäftigungstheorie. Hier beweist THQNordic zum wiederholten Mal, dass das Studio nicht in der Lage ist, ein kurzweiliges unterhaltsames Videospiel zu entwickeln. Das ganze Spielerlebnis basiert auf dem gelungenen Remake Kampf um Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. Das war allerdings eine komplette Vorlage und konnte demnach spielerisch überzeugen, weil das Ursprungsteam der PS2-Auflage ganze Arbeit geleistet hatte. Und selbst die Entwicklung des neuen zweiten Teils war THQNordic zu viel. Leider kein Einzelfall.
