Halo 5: Guardians is okay. Its campaign is rubbish, but the multiplayer is solid thanks to the foundation it’s built upon. Warzone is a really enjoyable experience, and while combat is still mostly about tossing grenades and hitting the melee button, the whole Requisition gimmick adds some much-needed flavor to proceedings.

The latest Halo is a big deal only for hardcore Halo fans. For me the single player campaign was unbearably pompous and despite 1080p and 60 fps the visuals are not as breathtaking as they once were in Halo 4. The game builds a solid foundation for Halo 6, but it’s not one of those games you absolutely have to play. [13/2015, p.48]

With a more accessible and engaging story and solid new designs for the Prometheans, Halo 5 is a major improvement over Halo 4. Warzone is a great addition to the multiplayer, though the mode seems to have some game balance issues. [Nov 2015]

After all the criticism, I was expecting a much worse campaign. Instead, I found a solid adventure with all the DNA of Halo, featuring some interesting gameplay additions, and one that, in my opinion, surpasses some of the weaker entries in the series, such as the boring Halo 3: ODST, the forgettable Halo 4, or the overrated Halo 2. My rating: ****

Deliberately underrated and review-bombed by entitled and delusional Bungie fanboys with an agenda, and a false nostalgia memory. The campaign seems a bit dull because it's the 7th Halo, but if this was the first everyone would say it was great. H5 is miles better than Bungie's H2 for one. The game looks & plays great - not sure of the story, as I never follow them. Infinite's the only clear advance in the series - albeit fairly dull too, due to the dead/barren open world. The land vehicle controls are still the worst in gaming (camera relative is just broken and lazy - hence Bethesda copied them for Starfield's lunar buggy LOL!), and Green Thumb should be default for on-foot. Didn't play much online MP, but it was said to be great, but now empty? Co-op campaign can still be fun. The story is <9hrs just to finish on Normal, which is easy, as you can run past battles, and NPC teammates can revive you (unless you rushed too far and was killed by an Elite with a sword, who'll often kill them too). I can't say I even noticed any boss battles - I think they were the Warden bullet-sponges that reoccur. As with Infinite, the Flood are sadly missing, which would have added some tactical variety.
The OST's still good, but seems more incidental, possibly due to familiarity.
H5 (2015) is better than most FPSs, but obviously not as good as Half-Life **** GTAV (2013), LOL!

Developers from 343 Industries have finally caught the right way and with the fifth part they fixed the mistakes which they made in the previous installment. So they provide the players with an absolutely perfect and catchy campaign. [Issue#258]

The story may well be confusing – especially for newcomers – and many characters are sadly lacking in depth, but that doesn’t detract from how fun shooting your way through the game’s fifteen missions is when playing solo and even more so with three friends.

Halo 5 Guardians is a great new iteration in the Halo franchise. Frantic and intense gunplay against a large number of enemies, though it could be better in vehicles missions. 343i's game shines with the new and great Warzone mode and balanced and intense Arena multiplayer.

Halo 5: Guardians is an exciting Halo package, marred only by some questionable design decisions, like microtransactions and some shoddy friendly-AI in the campaign. It’s not a classic Halo, but 343 is moving in a good direction with the franchise.

Halo 5 has come through addressing a lot of the concerns that fans had leading up to its launch. The online multiplayer is stable, delivers classic Halo multiplayer, and freshens it up all at the same time. The single player campaign is enjoyable enough for those looking for a classic FPS experience, but not all too bothered about a strong story.

Halo 5: Guardians is a fine-tuned machine. It has a robust and highly addictive competitive multiplayer component, a large variety of aesthetically pleasing customizations and some of the tightest controls to ever grace a Halo title. Unfortunately, the campaign leaves much to be desired.

343 Industries made a terrific impression with their first dip into the franchise, but with a lackluster campaign and multiplayer that still needs tuning, Halo 5: Guardians makes them look like one-hit wonders.

It's a great game. I highly recommend it. It has a lot of action, its mechanics are very good, the story line is very solid and of course the master chief is great.

Lazy and disappointing campaign. Online was well done. Loved the war zone mode. As a big fan of the series I wish more effort was put into the story. It felt generic.

This is just a bad game. The story is all fluff no substance with tons of shock and awe to no real affect. 90% of the characters are wasted or made worse than they were in the previous game like blue team who feel more like set pieces around chief than his actual friends. Music is forgettable, I honestly can't remember any of the music from this game when I try to think of it right now. Pacing of the nonexistent story is just all over the place with no real feel of direction or purpose. The reuse of a boss fight 4-5 times is one of many things that shows the laziness behind this game. The gun play while not bad feels weird and not very Halo, there was really no reason to change it like they did. Weapons feel like they have no power and enemies all feel very much the same and uninspired in this game. The level design is the only thing in this game that is cool and fun to look at. I would recommend skipping this games campaign you aren't missing anything. :(
