This is the definition of a “stuff” game. If you just want an unoffensive time waster, this is the game for you. It’s cute, cozy, and there’s no clear goal in sight. Personally not my kind of game but I see the appeal for those who do.
Pokemon is finally porting their classics to modern consoles and they choose my favorite game of all time. Aside from some minor changes to allow Home support and wireless trading, this is the exact same game on Gameboy Advance and I couldn’t be happier
Not nearly as good at 2-4 but way better then 5. Tho I dislike the favoring of combat over farm and live sim mechanics. you have to beat the long story to date most of the characters and you can’t farm other crops until you unlocked other villages. Plus the villager chief system encourages you to automate the farming. The harvest moon elements of this “fantasy harvest moon” has become an after thought.
This is definitely my game of the **** takes the best from Persona and combines it with the best of paper mario. And adds in Pokemon stadium’s battle menus, which is something I didn’t think I missed.Combined with a brilliant story that I really hope no one spoils for you, and beautiful music. Only problem is that it had quite a few graphical glitches mostly with lighting. It’s not a big deal but it does get kinda wried when white hair is a plot point and also eveyone’s hair turns white during menus.
How is it even possible to screw up a port this badly? The bad servers I somewhat understand they’ve never done it before, they could have contacted help. The big issue I have tho, THEY REMOVED CUTSCENES FROM THE CAMPAIGN!!!!! These are amazing games, and the original Steam version has the PC menu which is horrible, so there is a reason for this collection. But not when they remove content.
I was gonna say this game is the most basic run of the mill RPG there is… than I stopped playing it half way though to play Final Fantasy 1… the basic **** that FF1 does that Golden Sun doesn’t is astonishing. Why is there no minimap? Why is there no buff and debuff spells? Why is the menu button the same as the interact button? This game is bad. With obscure story checkpoints that are to the likes of Zelda 2, and a massive world that is easy to get lost in, I haven’t been frustrated by a game this much in a long time.
The game is a great upgrade from the original. The story mode is really fun, and the character rooster is diverse. There are quite a bit of minor problems tho. The menus are pretty clunky, and causals have to go though them to put on items. The minigames are a joke, they try and bring back break the targets but they don’t make any of the character’s stages different in terms of design. And the break the robots is just dumb. There is no salvaging that, it’s just bad. The character roaster is great but it feels wrong to not have a traditional sword fighter and still no fairy odd parents rep.
The loading times are complete garbage, but that’s the only big problem on the technical side. Overall a really fun game for smash fans and nick fans alike. There are some changes that definitely should be made, and a lot of polish still needed to be applied. But this game rivals Rivals of Ether for best smash clone.
Mario Wonder is just another 2D Mario. It has most of the problems of modern 2D Mario with none of the “New” baggage, but the flaws are still there. Still a good game, but most certainly not the best 2D platformer since Yoshi’s Island or Mario 3. This game will not amaze or disappoint it. It is simply a good game.
It’s more of scarlet/violet and not much more. Compared to Isle of Armor this dlc is definitely lacking. The area is bland and the story is just ok. Somehow it preforms worse then the base game but nothing game breaking. I think GameFreak forgot how to optimize games…
Two things come to mind. 1.) This is definitely the best Mario RPG of all time. No contest. This is an objective upgrade to the original game’s formula in every way. And the story is extremely entertaining. 2.)I completely understand why Miyamoto hates it and kinda agree with his restrictions on Intelligence Systems now. His characters are violated a lot on this game and if they were my characters I would be pissed too… still entertaining as ****
This is the worst zelda game imo (besides the games that shall not be named) it’s neat to see Wind Waker bosses in 2D and the story is good. But with such a large barrier to play it with 4 players. A GameCube, 4 GameBoy advances, and the adaptors to go with them. It’s more likely you’ll be playing the game alone which isn’t a great experience as all the puzzles are multiplayer focused. It was a neat idea on paper but in practice it’s a mess of wires and usually results in turning off the game in favor of Mario kart, Mario party, or smash.
There’s a lot of changes from Path of Radiance that are quite nice, some aren’t great but aren’t awful. But the biggest thing that separates Dawn from Path is the story. Characters are morons in Radiant Dawn, including 2 characters from path that were tactical genius are now coming up with plans that would result in all of their deaths. Chapter 2 did absolutely nothing for the overall story. Reveals aren’t set up at all and are revealed at terrible times. Pair the story with the massive level pacing problems. A third of the characters are straight up unusable in the endgame unless you dumb bonus Exp into them. Still the base game play is Fire Emblem, and the story is not so damaged that it pushes you away. Lot’s of really fun maps as well, escape maps, survive maps, some goals that are actually different from route enemy or kill boss, which is always a breath of fresh air. Overall good game, but lots of poor choices with the story and pacing, kinda disappointing that this is the sequel to Path.
This is a remake of one of my favorite games, and for the most part it does a decent job of recapturing the old game. But there are some strange and downright stupid changes. From pointless name changes, to stubble and not so stubble politicalizations, to the worst character creation I have ever seen. You are forced to lock in your eye shape and color before you even choose your gender. And all of them look horrible expect for the default options. The entire replacement of an old character with a bland and boring replacement. Removal of a lot of dialogue. It’s a great game that I would recommend to old harvest moon fans and farming sim fans but I can’t help but feel like an upgraded port would have been better then this remaster. If you can play the original, play that instead.
As someone who isn’t a fan of Harry Potter. I’ve only watched a few movies and only read the first and I think it’s all just worse than Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. This is a pretty fun game. There’s a lot of lore that is going right over my head, and I’m sure these last names of characters would mean something if I read the books. But to be it’s just a pretty good magic game. All the spells are well done, the open world is beautiful. Flying on your broom feels awesome, the characters and story isn’t great but it’s not bad. The combat is fun but not challenging at all. To me this is just a fun game, nothing really special to remember but really good.
This is simply the logical advancement on Octopath Traveler and I love it. Some story elements I’m not a fan on, they tried to make the stories bigger and better than the original, and sometimes it works and other times don’t. And I wish they went further with the job system. The Bravely Default games are so free with builds and this still feels restrictive. There’s more options then Octopath 1, but the mage character is still is only best at being a magic attacker, the dancer character best only at support, the thief unit will always be your fastest, and so on. If you try to make the mage character into a physical attacker, he’s not going to be good. But those are just nitpicking. There is no major problems with this game, the stories are all decent to amazing, the mechanics and quality of life improvements form the original all work great, the pixel art is beautiful absolutely stunning in some areas, the music is great, the difficulty is fine, and I haven’t come across any glitches. There is an infinite money exploit, but you can make more faster just by grinding so. This is just a solid game, another one of Squares great RPGs. Brilliant for a sequel to a filler game. And I hope they continue to make more of both Octopath and Bravely Default.
This is objectively a better version than the GameCube and Wii versions. Twin stick controls work surprisingly well. Honestly don’t know how I played the game without them. And the little details. Like the water drops on the arm cannon switching direction when looking up and down is so nice. It still has all the problem I had with it as a kid. It is way to easy to hey lost, the map really is hard to read, and the objectives notices aren’t that helpful. So I still go to every area and check the map for 15 minutes straight before figuring out where I can go after getting a new item. An updated map would have been greatly appreciated, but otherwise a very good remaster.
This is my least favorite FE game. There isn’t anything bad about it, just a pretty standard story with obvious twists. The ending for lack of a better word is **** And a lot of small gameplay and mechanic changes that I don’t personally like. And after the massive deal that was 4 stories in 3 Houses I kinda feel cheated by getting just one story. In a positive note with only wave 1 dlc the dlc has already proven itself to be the best FE DLC to date. Already leagues better than 3 houses’ dlc imo. If you buy the game I recommend picking up the dlc as well. But if you are picking between this and 3 houses, 3 houses is the better game.
This is the most fun I’ve had with a bad game in a while. This is a bad game. The world is empty, areas 3 and 4 just ****. Area 5 is just the other half of area 1. The combat does itself. The bosses are really fun experiences but they are almost impossible to loose at and parrying ****. The references to past games just remind me those games are better. There are still classic sonic moments where a grind rail or boost panel pushes you into spikes or a pit before a reasonable person can react. The economy is absolutely broken, both rings, exp points, and fish tokens. And the story is just ok. But damn is running around fun. I recommend buying this when it’s on sale just to mess around with.
There are actually some original ideas in this game. The manual is brilliant, I’m not gonna spoil it, you have to experience it for yourself. There’s so much charm in this game, the gameplay is nice, the lore is amazing. It’s not prefect I can’t help but feel like it would have been better as just a Zelda like without souls elements mixed in. The combat is really fun but the loose learn repeat 20 times level of difficulty doesn’t mix with the style of an adventure game imo. And some handholding would be nice, or at least a clear warning that that the manual is required to play this game. Also the stuff to 100% this game is ridiculously complex and I have no idea how anyone did it without a guide. The mountain door **** if you know you know. And I don’t want to learn an entire made up language just to experience the lore of this game. I appreciate the effort, but a new game + where the game translates the langue for you, like in The Wind Waker, would be very much appreciated.
Pokémon has always had performance issue, but this is a new low. The game renders the entire map at once making game slow down and many other problems. There’s a lot of lazy things in this game that is just insulting. But it’s still Pokémon, and the open world actually works, not as well as it could. But it is nice to see change. The game is good, it’s just all the glitches and bugs and performance problems really bring down the experience.
DnD but Star Wars was not what I was expecting at all. And as a Star Wars fans and a DnD fan I kinda hate this. DnD you get to built your character find broken combos, have fun with friends and imagine these epic. And in this it’s just your guy swings a sword or fires a gun waits 3 seconds then does it again… you might need to use an item to heal every now and then. The story is great similar to the other Star Wars Videogames but by far this is the worst combat in any Star Wars Videogame.
I somehow went all this time not hearing anything about this game besides the fact that is was good. And yes it is very good. Probably the best execution of a story I’ve seen from a Videogame. and the fact that they put the effort in to make a native port on switch for this makes it so much better.
It’s Pokémon but worse and MMO. Which means it has all the problems of being an MMO rpg, and being an online game on a portal console. It’s a decent game, but because of like pokemon and it being online only there isn’t a single reason to buy it on switch. Buy it on PC, buy it on PlayStation. If you want a Pokémon experience off Nintendo consoles this is the game to get, but on Nintendo Consoles, you should skip this one.
An hour in and it’s already better then XC2. 10 hours in you start wondering if this is the best game of all time. While this is still held back by the fact it’s an auto attack action rpg, combat has never been more involved. You could over-grind and just let the game play for you, but if you are at the proper level or even under-leveled you will need strategy you will need to build your characters. But what makes this the best RPG of the year and contestor for best of all time is the story, it starts off nice and simple to introduce the world and the characters, honestly a little too slow for some of the characters. Once you get into the meat of the game, it gets to a point where I just bought the dlc to reward Monolithsoft for a job well done. If you have the time to play a long RPG this is a must buy. Even if you hate the combat, the story will more then make up for it.
Even at launch the majority of the players in a room were bots, I won my 3rd round and got to the finals all 3 games I’ve played. The frame rate is awful, and the first game about 5-10 people disconnect. And the map are still ridiculously simple, and the chance of team games seem to have been decreased. Additionally since the first game about 5-10 people disconnect and half the players are bots designed to loose, the first mission takes about 5 minutes to finish.
For a Muso game extremely difficult, for a FE game great story and great rewards. And each path feels like they were thought about well, even tho Golden Deer is clearly a 3rd wheel. And the rewards for the very challenging stuff like Lunatic are very much well worth it.
I’m not usually a fan of Beat ‘em up game, and this game certainly isn’t on my favorite games of all time list, but I do have found memories of playing a TMNT beat ‘em arcade cabinet with my brother in a Ronald McDonald’s house while my brother was in the hospital in the early 2000s. And that’s definitely enough to trigger the nostalgia. I’m not a huge TMNT fan so a lot of the minor characters and villains I don’t know and the game barely does anything to teach me about them. But they are very fun to just beat up on. The online works great, and is very forgiving if you disconnect. You can join matches mid match, if you disconnect from a room it seamlessly puts you into your own room without kicking you out of the level. I believe the switch is the only version with six player couch co-op and it’s amazing. Very good game.
This is an incredible game and buy far the best Lego game we’ve gotten in a long time. It isn’t as charming as the original 2 Lego Star Wars games but the combat is the best I can imagine Lego being and while the in level puzzles have been downgraded the puzzles in the open world and open world in general make up for it. The only problem is the glitches. I’m assuming the graphical glitches are primarily on only just the switch version. Which are fine they aren’t that bad. But there are a lot of soft locks a lot of crashes, and even some reported hard locks so gotta dock it points there, but assuming these glitches will be fixed this game has almost no flaws.
Amazing game. As a strategy RPG it can’t compare to Fire Emblem. But the story is absolutely amazing. The branching paths add amazing replay value, I was well into my 3rd playthough until I hit burnout. The gameplay is amazing but the interface needs some work. FE’s battle menus are very easy to understand and they’re quick games to master. But this game idk what a 3rd of the stats do, and I can never figure out what the enemies’ range is. The scales are what really brings this game to a 9/10 for me. Making choices that matter is awesome, but gathering evidence and making arguments to your party members based on their personalities is amazing. It encourages you to pay attention to the main cast and see what motivates them. Overall amazing game must play.
For the first wave of many, it’s great. A lot of awesome tracks, and the tour tracks are very nice first experience for those who haven’t played tour. The popular legacy tracks like Coconut Mall and Choco Mountain feel a little off, but maybe that’s just me preferring Mario Kart 64 and Wii over 8. And the fact that you can get it for free with the NSO expansion pass adds great value to the NSO service.
This is easily the game of the year. Personally I prefer Dark Souls 1, I prefer slower combat. But there is nothing to hate here, this game is only positives. I can not stress this enough, Game of The Year easily.
This is the best Pokémon Game since the DS era. Absolutely incredible gameplay, and a good story. But the graphics a less then desirable, and the lack of PvP and the drastic movepool changes do upset me. There are definitely problems with this game and more things to nitpick then I can count. But the overall all feel of it is, it’s really fun and that’s what matters.
The best part of this game is that there is a free version so I don’t have to buy this crap. The music and art style is amazing and the controls are fine enough but it’s set up like a mobile game with in game currency and miroctransactions. The tracks are extremely boring and short, and it took me forever to figure out how to use Magic and the sad part is I won.
This game is flawed but amazing. I would say it’s as fun a platinum but platinum has more and better content, this game just looks better and has some cool things. The new underground is amazing, the music is amazing, the graphics are amazing. There are a few glitches, nothing game breaking tho. Very solid game.
This game is an amazing Smash-like with great characters, but I really wish there was more casual modes. Competitively it could rival Rivals or even Melee. But for a game about children’s cartoons I would like expect more then just Online quickly and arcade mode for the causals. Also the load times kinda linger.
Not only is this a Pay to Win mirco transaction game that is extremely simple. Not only does it have an in game currency system that will be exploited by both the tyrannical company running the game and by hackers. But read the user agreement, just me you want your cards to be connected to the email connected to this game.
All they did was improve the game. And the quality of life improvements make me want to hug Fi instead of kill her. This is the best way to play Skyward Sword.
On one hand it’s a great party game, on the other it’s golf On one hand the story mode is surprisingly good, on the other hand it’s golf
On one hand it’s not another Tennis game, on the other it’s golf. On one hand speed golf and the battle mode are really interesting ways to spice things up, on the other hand it’s still fricking golf! This game does everything it possibly can to make golf fun and you can have fun with this game. But the biggest thing holding this game back it that it’s GOLF! There’s only so much they can do to make golf fun but at the end of the day it’s still golf. It is one of the worst sports and by fair the most boring sport to watch even with Waluigi having a fine suit. Make a sports game about a sport people actually care about.
This game is adorable. The addition of a horse is great. And the updated Mii maker is absolutely insane, I’d pay 50 bucks just to use all the miis everyone created, and I did. My only gripe is that you can’t control your other party members, which is a huge bummer. But that’s forgivable when I can fight along side Videogame and Anime characters.
FF8 can be described in one word. Confusing. The story is all over the place before it introduces Space Travel and Time Travel. The GF system is a cluttered mess, the combat scaling system makes grinding a negative, and the card game holy frick I don’t think anyone can understand it. The cut scenes are cool and for the first few hours the combat system is just like any other FF game. The characters are good. This is as bad as a good game can get. And of the main line FF games of Switch this is the worst one.
If you like Pokémon you’ll like this game. If you like taking pictures you’ll like this game. If you played Pokémon Snap for the N64 you’ll love this game. If don’t get the appeal of taking pictures of Pokémon... why are you even looking at this game? New Pokémon Snap is an amazing sequel to Pokémon Snap and a dream come true for thousands of Pokémon fans. But it’s still a niche title that a lot of people will not understand. You need to love Pokémon to enjoy this game. Most people do, and if you don’t... seriously why are you looking at this game. Anyone who is seriously considering buying this should buy it. It’s Pokémon fun.
Definitely game of the year so far. My one complaint is that there are a few things behind a pay wall. Like cosmetic armor. But the game is nearly perfect. Best online servers for Switch and great story for single player.
I have never seen a game reviewed by bots this hard before. This game is hot Garbage. At best it’s a 4/10. It’s not even so bad that it’s fun it’s just bad. The only good thing is the cutscenes but they aren’t good enough to endure the garbage gameplay in between the cut scenes.
This is a very safe RPG. The biggest change between this game and past entries are encounters are now Overworld encounters instead of random encounters. And the jobs have some what been balance but there’s still come pretty OP combos. The story is really good but I’m not quite sure if it’s better then the first game. You have amazing mini stories, like really good mini stories. but the over all picture just is meh. You collect the crystals you collect the asterisks you save the world very standard RPG stuff. Which is good, but I wish they added a bit more to it to make it stand out. Something that can proof this game isn’t just a 3DS sequel. And as far as I’ve played that just instead there. Amazing game, love the series. It’s just a little too safe.
This game has all amazing gameplay if Crazy Taxi with very little of the charm. It’s fun to memorize the city and just drive around like crazy but conversations often repeat, and the unlock Taxis are extremely easy to unlock.I’ve gotten one special customer and the conversation was boring and it got cut off mid sentence because I got to the destination to quickly... I had to chose between getting the conversation or getting 5 stars. It’s a good game but it feels like a rip off of Crazy Taxi instead of a spiritual successor.
This could definitely be a 10. This is a truly amazing game. Amazing platforming, Amazing Combat, Amazing Music, Amazing souls like currency, Amazing Zelda like dungeons, beautiful locals, the story is decent. But the bugs and crashes. The switch version of this game can not handle the lava lake at all. I’ve never seen a switch game crash this much. If they patch this game, this score will definitely go up to a 10/10 but it’s just so buggy.
First the bad: this is the only game I have played on switch that has ever froze. This game looks beautiful and is a good FPS but it doesn’t really run that well on the switch. You’re definitely gonna encounter at least one soft-lock on a playthough. Apart from the technical side the only really bad thing about it is that it’s way shorter then most FPS story games. It’s really short. Good things: I’m not that into FPS as a genre. But I really enjoyed this game. Good story, Good challenge. Mix of realism and SiFi really well. The island is open world and there’s so many ways to can get from point A to point B with loads of destructible terrain. It’s fun but short and technically has a few issues.
Easily the best port job the switch had received. Imo it looks better in some areas the it’s PS4 and X-Box One counterparts. Like series I still have trouble believing it’s not being streamed. There is one major downside is the price. The PS4 and X-Box One versions of the game are 20 dollars. And the Switch version came out with a 60 dollar price tag. You’re paying more for the worst version ****. An amazing game, but still the worst version. There wasn’t even a sale when it was at the game awards. Unless you really can’t wait to play Doom on the go. You should probably wait for this to drop in price.
It’s fun but extremely short and easy. I love the new difficulty levels but hard mode is not hard enough and the game isn’t really fun enough to play again on the higher difficulty. The Challenge Mode is fun and a good challenge but gets boring after a while. And the Olimar side stories are pretty disappointing. Boss mode is great. And the story is amazing even tho it’s extremely short. As far as time management games go, this is probably the best one, but the genre still has a long way to go to he a really good genre.
