While it’s fun to cast every role in your Miitopia adventure, it’s less thrilling to sit back and let this very hands-off game play itself. [Issue #4, p.57]

Miitopia is a fun first RPG for young kids, and while it can also be fun for adults, the game quickly gets repetitive and unrewarding. It would be better as a multiplayer game on Switch, or even an online outing that had more to do. It really defeats itself as a solo game. Its real appeal lies not in the RPG adventure itself, then, but in how wildly robust the new Mii-making interface is. Some people may want to pick up the game for that feature alone. Compared to the original released on 3DS in 2017, the Switch version of Miitopia looks better and offers a couple of additions, but it is pretty much the same thing. I had a lot of fun with it once again and I can recommend it to anyone looking for a funny (but not necessarily hilarious) game with an extraordinarily enjoyable gameplay loop. [08/2021, p.66]

This game feels like it shouldn't be as fun as it is. For me it is really the charm that carries this game to completion and all the way through the post-game content. ,

A personal favorite of mine. Sheer creativity on display, but I feel the gameplay will get stale after awhile.

Miitopia is a very good game and one of my favorites.
The battle mechanics are simple, but they work well. You can create any Miis you want to fight in your party, and the relationships between them are an interesting mecanic.
The only bad point is that the game becomes very long and repetitive if you want to complete it 100%.
I mean achievements like:“Get every job to level 50 with one Mii ».

Miitopia is the right kind of silly nonsense. It's oddball, but never random for the sake of randomness. There's method to the madness, and in giving players such control over the experience, Miitopia ends up becoming something resonant on a personal level. Part of the reason I had so much fun with this game was because I had a direct hand in crafting what I experienced. I rarely laugh out loud as much as I have had with this one, and that is more impressive of a feat than Nintendo will get credit for. It's hard to get humour right over something as extended in length as a JRPG, and Nintendo nailed it.

Miitopia is a simple RPG with a few very unmodern character-creating mechanics. Whether you are charmed by Miis or not is certainly your own prerogative, but the gameplay itself is perfect for beginner RPG players with its focus on relationships between your party members. Longtime RPG players may find a good time in its relative simplicity.

Miitopia is honestly my favourite game of all time. On a surface level,it seems that the main fun that comes out of it is inserting your own friends, family, and silly characters into it to watch them mess around. And to an extent, they're not wrong. It can be really fun seeing your Mii's interact, work together, have disagreements, and get into other shenanigans. But beyond that, this game has genuine heart and a beautiful story which, goofy as it may be, can be incredibly emotional at times. The animations, graphics and artstyle are also on point and look beautiful on the Switch, but the music in particular stands out to me. I have many of the songs in my playlists because I can't help but listen to them outside of gameplay. I hope you try out this game, because it truly has so much to give.

Miitopia is a simple, perfect RPG for anyone too young or too lazy (or disinterested) to play a “real” RPG.

Although it becomes repetitive after a while, it is a game that I can recommend for both players who are new to the RPG genre and those who are looking for a game where they can spend time without thinking too much.

Miitopia still retains its charm as it hops from 3DS to Switch, as well as a decent upgrade in the visual department. It's no 100-hour epic, but it's a cute and quirky little RPG that makes for an adorable distraction when you need to let your brain rest for a bit.

My nine year old son loves Miitopia. He’s played it for almost as many hours as I have and I suspect he won’t be stopping anytime soon. I haven’t hit those same highs he has. The core battle system is too thin, and the activities and charming character interactions aren’t enough to paper over that problem. This is the most robust mii maker, but it’s all at a price that’s downright terrible. I wanted to like Miitopia more than I did, but it’s more like a Mii-nopia.

Miitopia is whimsical in its opening hours, but becomes repetitive far too quickly.

You basically watch the game happen and don’t really play it. Decisions aren’t critical at any point. The ending is not satisfying. There is no discovery. You’re just watching the game happen. It is silly and quirky… but largely a chore to do the same repetitive tasks to build relationships with your team members.
