Between various novelties and improvements, the combat system of Fire Emblem Engage is perfectly smooth and exciting. Not all the campaign is full of twists and the shadow of socialization at all costs could make the most surly digital generals nervous, but overall Fire Emblem Engage is a recommended chapter.

Absolutely fantastic, I've enjoyed this game so much it's even hard to describe. Don't let the complainers on YT shape your opinion on the game instead try it out! For a long time I hadn't played Fire Emblem, I stopped playing when Three houses came out, sorry for fans of this game but back then it didn't call to me for some reason. When Fire Emblem Engage was out I didn't even know it existed, but asked it as a birthday gift. When I eventually got around playing it, it re-lit my entire love for Fire Emblem with fond memories of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, I was enjoying myself so much with this game that after I finished it I actually purchased three houses, and echoes and Shadow Dragon. Had I not played engaged I might not have played these other Fire Emblem titles. The game feels so positive to me, I truly engaged :'DThe story is overall fine, I enjoyed it, I don't get why people are whining about it on YT as much as they do. Not every Fire Emblem needs to be over complicated in story, a simply story is good as well to me. I also felt like a lot of YT reviews seemed to not understand the story or seemed to miss key details you would get if you followed the story v.v Characters were engaging, some goofy but it worked, it really got me to feel so much more positive in life, yeah I don't know what this game did to me but I became Fire emblem obsessed x'D Graphics are gorgeous, for all those complaining it's to anime like, i'm sorry .... Fire emblem style wise always looked like bloody anime :'D I don't get that one. The colors are gorgeous, and again not every Fire emblem needs to be alike, Three houses was more dull in color and for it's story and such that worked, but for me who generally loves color, I can only say it was a feast to the eyes. Gameplay is SUPER fun, I cannot express just how much fun I had in this game XD Also emblems, you bet I was happy to see my boy Ike in this game haha XD Music, love it, then again Fire emblem and music has always been pretty good to me ^^ I recommend the game, Hiya papaya

Fire Emblem Engage is in no way inferior to 3 Houses. It maintains the same battle style, but with some changes and simplifications that make the game more fluid. Moving freely around the board is a very pleasant change. I also really like the art and characters. I don't think the game loses any seriousness compared to others in the franchise; I didn't get that impression. I just think the art style has taken a more colorful turn and, in my opinion, is even more beautiful than 3 Houses. I recommend not playing it immediately after another game in the franchise, as this will make the experience tiresome.

Newcomers to the series will find Fire Emblem Engage a great game, but they won’t truly know what a Fire Emblem game means until they play a previous title. Despite the few negatives, Fire Emblem Engage is a must for fans of the series, as well as newcomers who love turn-based strategy games.

Despite faltering in its plot delivery and the absence of meaningful decision-making, Fire Emblem Engage once again allows Intelligent Systems to demonstrate its unparalleled strategic brilliance and unquestionable dominance in the genre. It isn’t a game that is lacking in heroic ambition, in many ways evolving its own formula triumphantly beyond what was achieved with Fire Emblem: Three Houses but otherwise disappointingly falling short in others.

Engage plays confidently and is a highly enjoyable game when you're thrust into battle, the small innovations pushing the strategy and combat into new territory for the series. But it's held back by bland storytelling that fails to provoke much emotion or convey a sense of drive as you canter towards the next destination on the world map. It's a solid Fire Emblem, but lacks the lasting impact to rank as a classic.

Keeping this gem locked as a Nintendo Switch exclusive feels like a massive missed opportunity for strategy fans who prefer high resolutions and smoother frame rates.Ultimately, it’s a must-play tactical RPG—it’s just a shame you can't play it on your desktop.

For the most part Fire Emblem Engage is an absolutely insufferable experience. It's a pain to play through - not because the gameplay is bad, but because quite literally everything surrounding the gameplay is absolutely horrendous. Let me explain: - The least engaging story I've ever played through
- Absolutely horrendous characters. I can't even fathom how you can make up so many characters that although most of them look very good, they are so deeply annoying - all of them - so that you can't connect with any single one of them.
- Miserable experience in-between battles. You run around forcefully doing things to improve your squad but all of these elements are just miserable. They are a pain to suffer through.
- Dialogue is painfully cringe-inducing and there's unfortunately TONS of it, which wouldn't be a bad thing if it had substance but it doesn't. None of it. Most of it is just repetition on, and on again.
- Way too much micro management even by Fire Emblem standards with everything regarding emblems and inheriting skills and all of that nonsense. Despite this the battles are good, graphics are good and cutscenes can be cool. So despite being one of the worst games I've played through I'll still give it a 4. Honestly, skip this one. You're not missing anything. You'd be better of playing through Three Houses again.

This is hands down the worst fire emblem game ever made... the story is boring and not engaging at all! I truly don't know how anyone would rate this game highly unless they absolutely just love that form of strategic combat and nothing else. The character designs are also the worst the series has ever been. Many of them looks way too cartoonish to be in a game that takes its story seriously. The waifu quality has also dropped significantly, they look like they are designed and drawn by 12 year old. I have never played a fire emblem game where half way through I was so bored and detached from caring I stopped playing... haven't picked it up again for over a year now. Unicorn overlord is superior to this game in every way imaginable, so don't waste your time on this one.
