Fantastic entry into the series. Really hope they get the band back together like re6 but make it good this time. Just keep Leon fighting till he's 90.
I haven't completed the game yet but so far it's great. I've not encountered many bugs. The only problem with the game is the occasional echoe dialogue and the rather poor game optimization.
Updated Review: After completing the game, I have to admit that it is good but let's itself down from both things that are a personal dislikes, such as the cartoony character design and art style, but other things are just as frustrating and bad, like the occasional dip in writing and excess use of overly tanky enemies. With regards to the writing, the main story is brilliant, evoking a lot of the feels Mass Effect 2 gave me, but that doesn't apply to all the sides quests. I'd say around only 40% of the side quests (including companion missions) were actually interesting and didn't make me feel like i wanted to rush it to move on. Plus, I feel as though we should have been given more chances to speak to both Varrik and Solas. The companions actually surpised me with how good they were. I'm sure people will romance Davrin but I found that he had amazing best friend energy, like Garrus, and I would have been happy to have become a repeat character. Although Neve frustrated me at times, she two can have an amazing story lines and join some of the greatest Bioware companions. Harding story is new and interesting. Lucanas is fun but nothing we haven't seen before. Emmaric might have some snooze feast level side missions but his companion more than makes up for it. Despite some very questionable dialogue, Taash has a very unique story and they are quite funny. Bellara sadly has the worst story by far. It's bland, boring and a disappointment, especially because shes such a fun character. Overall, I don't know what all the offical reviewers were smoking because even though the game can shine at times, it can also be very dull and we shouldn't just ignore the bad, as the developer will never have a chance to improve going forward.
This is NOT a bad game. In fact, the story, characters and graphics are great, but sadly this is a ubisoft game so the gameplay is very bland and repetitive. I also encountered MANY bugs, including npcs having entire conversations before popping in / appearing, I got rubber banded all the way back to a previous location, elevators started taking 3 min to begin moving AND Nix bugged out and would no longer work until I restarted.
This game was surprisingly great. Reminds me a lot of how good old movie/tv adapted games used to be really good. Very satisfying driving, good story, e.t.c.
simply put, the first games liniar nature worked a lot better than this game. even with the newly added vehicles, the map is so large, it's still frustrating to navigate. the caves have doubled, if not tripled in size compared to the first game, proving that bigger doesn't mean better. I believe they should have just concentrated on adding cool new items to the game but kept the map size and feel the same as the forest.
Awful story, awful characters, awful gameplay. Massive open world which is filled with pointless fetch quests. stupid lot effort river raiding mechanic. I HATE this game.
The game came out in a bad state but even besides that I found all the quests in the game to be a bit boring, the gameplay wasn't that fun on launch and the romance options we very short lived. I feel like this game could have been amazing but it needed a better writing team.
It's simple, I'm too dumb for this game. It's looks amazing, it's interesting and I enjoyed what I did play for the most part but my brain had had enough after a few hours
I probably would give this a 6 but I'm sick of seeing people recommended this game as though it was some hidden missed gem people didn't give a chance. The only good part about this game is the gun combat. It feels ripped out of the last of us and put into this game so nothing to complain about there. As for everything else, it's all pretty awful. The story is dreadful, the missions a boring and I am SICK and tired of the main character repeating the same lines over and over.
Can't give this higher than a 7 as I felt that the story was a very safe one for the dev, but to me, I felt like I've seen it done so many times, I just found it boring and unparalleled to the first spiderman game. Plus, even though they offer one or two good side quests, the rest of them are hot garbage bloat content.
Sadly I cannot understand the love for this game. The combat can be fun but none of the classes ever felt amazing. The world was fun to explore for a while but after running into the same enemies for the 100 time, I also realised that the environment felt rather bland and uninspired. The story is very forgettable. Everything in the game is mid a best so I have to give it a 6
Brilliant story, characters and world. This game supports the transgender community by adding one of the first trans characters to appear I'm video games and all gender settings are removed from character creation for Inclusivity.
I have nothing against this game, good on Nintendo for trying new things, but its just too different for me. Bland and boring environments, weird gameplay mechanics, just not for me.
As always... they are heading in the right direction but they are still far from the game the pokemon community wants. What I will say is the performance issues are inexcusable. They have one console to work on so the game should come out perfect performance wise, anything else is just lazy money grabbing
I've played every choice game under the sun and i just can't be positive on this one... its sooo bland and boring. They keep trying to make horror games as if it was a horror movie but there is a difference... watching a movie of it is easy but making decisions just after the character has just gotten themselves in a stupid moronic situation is headache inducing. I think the conpany would do better at really shaking things up and try another genre besides horror
Brilliant game withm many positives. Should be game of the year. Only downsides I'd say is the fighting mechanics are very similar to the last game and needs a refresh.
One of my top 5 games... story, game mechanics and graphics are all brilliant. There are many positives about this game but something important to me is the side quests... the side quests in most games can be bland and long winded but i can say that in thw witcher, almost all of the quests were either fun or interesting or both. For example, there is one quest that you get later down the line which involves multiple different creatures working together, trying to ambush the witcher, as they see him as just a monster hunter, but the witcher can turn the tables on the leader if he has treated creatures kindly throught the game and i just think its a brilliant quest and really shows how good the devs are at story telling
This game is a lot of fine when you understand how to play it. I get that might seem obvious but with this game you can very much make it as hard as you want it to be... i.e. you want to play on hard mode? Avoid all obviously op items/things. Want to make it easy? Use obiously op items. But you can also find a middle ground i.e. I avoided using magic but used the katana which has bleeding... I went were ever i wanted to go and played until i come across as boss that after a few tries, seemed impossible, so i went back and made sure i completed the whole previous area and the boss was then beatable.
When it comes to game design this is preobably one of the best there is, a masterpiece even, but i do think the story and side quests are over hyped as many class this as being better than games like the witch and I just cannot agree
