Anthem

Anthem is probably the worst AAA game I've ever played. It either should have been canceled or delayed 2-3 years because it was nowhere near ready for release. Not to mention the massive downgrade.

Updated review: Sea of Thieves has improved so much since launch. It still doesn't have everything I want, but it's a hell of a lot better now and I definitely recommend it. Original 7/10 review: I absolutely love the core experience and it's beautiful to look at but extremely lacking in meaningful content. It's a perfect game to play with friends and mess around in and great if you just want to relax and sail around looking for treasure but don't expect interesting quests or above-average progression.

Scorn

Scorn is easily one of, if not the best-looking game I've ever played. I finished the whole game with no technical issues whatsoever and enjoyed it quite a bit. I only have a few complaints. It didn't have enough enemy types, it needed a better sense of direction, it doesn't have great replay value, and it was a bit short. I finished it after 7 hours. I also would have liked more focus on the story or at least a clear goal. I enjoyed most of the gameplay and puzzles, but I had no idea where I was going or why I was doing what I was doing lol. I can see some people enjoying that aspect of it though, that's just my opinion. At the end of the day I recommend it, but do keep in mind it's very slow-paced and some of the puzzles are surprisingly difficult. It's not for everyone. I'd maybe wait for the price to drop to at least $30 or play on Game Pass.

Deathloop is one of the most fun and addicting games I've ever played. It feels like a solid mix of Dishonored and Prey. It has an interesting story, great maps/levels to explore, fun gunplay, and it's both punishing and rewarding in a very satisfying way that reminds me of Dark Souls. I highly recommend it.

Imagine Modern Warfare with a slightly longer TTK, no opening doors, no mounting, and less auto-aim. That's basically Cold War multiplayer. It's not bad, but I was bored INSTANTLY because it felt so familiar. I know COD games never change much but Cold War literally feels like DLC. I didn't get that initial fun feeling of playing a new game which I usually do, even with bad CoD games. It also only has 8 core maps which in unacceptable.

In my 11 hours playing Hi-Fi RUSH and I didn't see a single bug or issue of any kind. It's fun, it looks great, and runs flawlessly. If it were $70 I'd give it a 9/10 but it's as good or better than many $70 games despite being $30 which I say is worthy of an additional point lol. I like the characters, it has an incredible art style, and it just keeps getting better the longer you play, I recommend it even if you don't typically like these kinds of games, as is the case with me lol.

Halo Infinite

Infinite has a very good campaign and multiplayer but there are issues. No biome variety, no large wildlife in the open world, no large-scale setpieces, no co-op, no forge, and limited progression. There's no excuse, but the core experience is absolutely fantastic and there's no denying that. Now on 11/8/22, it's finally getting most issues fixed. More maps, unlocks, forge, co-op, mission replay, XP progression, etc. I genuinely recommend Halo Infinite to anyone at this point. It's easily the best FPS released this-gen.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
7
User ScoreDausenMoore
Nov 8, 2022
It's a decent game but has many issues. The TTK is way too fast promoting camping and eliminating the potential for engaging gunfights, the UI is awful, it's missing countless basic features like a statistics page and hardcore modes, SMGs feel underpowered, and it has the WORST progression I've ever seen. In order to unlock simple attachments you have to go through long chains and level up multiple guns. At least up to 5 guns in some cases. It's insanely idiotic. Maps are okay. None stand out as particularly great, but on average I'd say they're better than maps in MW19. This seems to be a theme in MW22. Not great, but decent. Another minor complaint. It doesn't look bad visually, but it doesn't look very good either. It's nearly identical to MW19 from 3 years ago on last-gen consoles. It's not bad, but it could have/should have been better.

Overwatch 2

User ScoreDausenMoore

Overwatch 2 is the most mediocre "sequel" I've ever seen. Almost all of the content is identical to Overwatch 1, there are no visual improvements despite launching 6 years later on a new generation of consoles, and changes, in general, are minimal. Not to mention it has a horrible launch that requires a specific phone plan even if you bought the original (now shut down) Overwatch, and even if you do have the "correct" phone service, it's nearly impossible to play right now because of the servers. At the end of the day, it's not a bad game, but it's a very, very bad sequel.

CrossfireX isn't half as bad as people act. It has a lot of room for improvement, but it's still fun and it's also free so you're not wasting any money on it. If it were $70, I'd be a lot more negative here though lol. It's worth a try but you may want to go into the shooting range and change your setting a little.

DICE should be so ashamed. I paid $100 for this piece of **** and it was so bad I had to uninstall after a couple weeks. I'll never even start the battle passes I purchased and I'll never pre-order from DICE ever again. It has the worst maps in all of Battlefield, hardly any weapons, the operators are cringey and out of place in a game with 120 players, and it's insanely glitchy. I do really like the new plus system, some of the new operator abilities like the grapple, and the graphics (sometimes) are incredible, but the little good there is, is surrounded in **** It is worth noting however, that they are improving it. Unfortunately, by the time it's good, the net Battlefield will probably be released.

Horizon Forbidden West is very visually impressive and plays well enough too. Unfortunately, it feels very outdated at the same time with predetermined climbing selections, a very limited arsenal, no friendly NPC interactions/reactions when attacked, etc. It oddly feels a lot like Far Cry which adds to an overly familiar and boring experience imo. I think new gamers will enjoy it, but if you've been gaming for years and want a new innovative experience, I can't recommend HFW.

I have mixed feelings about Modern Warfare. On one hand, it finally improved the graphics, has the best gunplay in the series, and a very good campaign. On the other hand, the gameplay is ruined by horribly designed maps, bland colors/locations, and a very short TTK which leads to the most campers I've ever seen before. It does also have a solid BR though but once again, the depressing overuse of grey and lack of any interesting locations really hurts the experience in my eyes. I've never been so split on CoD before.
