8.5/10 So here I am, doing everything I can Holding on to what I am Pretending I'm a superman... Pretending is a good word, as even after spending quite some time with this game, I still have no idea what I'm doing. But that doesn't stop me from grinding my way to sick scores, feeling like I can take on Tony Hawk toe-to-toe anytime. And it's probably thanks to 3 things VV managed to bring to this remake: great music, timeless level design, and overall feeling of freedom. Subtracting half a point from the score because there is a lot to do in this game, but nothing really got me interested for a longer time - it could use some innovations in the career mode. + great music + timeless level design + overall feeling of freedom - the tutorial is rather simplistic so the entry threshold is high - could use some new modes (maybe career mode with an actual career?)

I wouldn't describe it as a 'reverse horror', rather as a short and fun gore metroidvania. But I do understand where the complaints are coming from - even I had to google how to get to the ending, but, thankfully, I had enough luck to go through this game with almost no 'no idea where to go' issues. I would give it a higher score, but lack of proper guidance can be a serious issue. Still, it doesn't have to be and I'd say give it a try - it's on gamepass and maybe you'll have as great a time as I had. + moving with the monster is soooo smooth and fun + fights and puzzles properly escalating in difficulty + 4 hours is a perfect length for this kind of game + fitting pixel art - easy to get lost, with no in-game way to find out where to go - human memory puzzles seemed a bit unnecessary

Don't expect this game to make you cry and feel for every character in the story, and you might enjoy it even more. I has been advertised as a game about learning how to say goodbye, but the thing was, I had no problem with letting go of any of the characters. Letting go of the people you've grown to love is a complicated process, which is hard to get into, when the game doesn't let you go through any of the steps, like for example, whether you want to keep their room as a commemorative keepsake, or get rid of it with a heavy heart, so other spirits have more space for their needs (though I appreciate the game's effort to presenting death without too much pathos). What instead appeared to me, is how I actually liked being the spiritfarer, as it was a truly relaxing job. Caring for plants, knitting materials, cooking food, making people happy with hugs. The game's a mixture of various things, there was plenty to do, so it was an entertaining, yet breathe-easy experience. For some time, after a stressful day, Spiritfarer was my go-to when I needed some escape. And I would suggest to treat it as such - a good escapism game. + escapism from daily struggles + looks and sounds great + managing the boat is quite fun + touching and poetic ending - coming to terms with death has much more potential than this game is showing - I couldn't really bond with the characters, their story-telling wasn't that interesting

Oh, I love this game. At first, it looks like just another crazy rougelike, but soon enough it proves to be a meticulously crafted series of puzzles with enough rougelike elements to make it feel different every time. It's done so well, that even if throwing dice seems like the most RNG thing ever, there's always a way to beat your opponent if you play your dice right. I love the whole design and it is one of the few games I got 100% on. Looking forward to your next games, Terry! (or maybe a DLC for this one...?) + innovative idea and done right + gameshowy music + great graphic design with well-designed enemies (both graphically and mechanically) + around 40 hours of gameplay + RNG handled really well... - ...though just a few (2, I believe) chapters could use a bit more work so you don't need that much luck to beat them - lore could be better, it serves more as a thing to distract you between episodes

8.5/10. What an amazing improvement since the 2013 reboot. Honestly, this game makes the first entry look like a little project to greenlight something much bigger. And it is SO much bigger. Tons of guns to unlock, new movement or fighting mechanic introduced every few cutscenes, extended skill tree, and plethora of things to collect. The scope of the things to do in this game seems enormous. Of course, it has its downsides, as some of the collectibles and activities seemed rather unnecessary. Let me tell you, one thing this game definitely stands out with is the environmental design. Every new area you enter is a treat to the eye, every landscape is colossal, dramatic, and has its own idea. Same goes for the tombs you can enter - while in the 2013 reboot every tomb looked sort of the same, this time, each time you encounter a tomb is an opportunity to gaze at the massive work done by the artists. If you want to play any of the new Tomb Raiders, just skip the first one and play this, trust me. + beautifully designed landscapes + plenty of collectibles and things to do + more tombs with each having its own idea + characters and writing done better this time... - ...but the story is still a little bland... - ...and a bit dragged out in the middle - sometimes - too much collectibles - if you're an achievement hunter, good luck, there's an achievement for virtually every thing you can do in this game, not all of which are that fun, a total of 143.

If you liked the first Spelunky, you will most likely find yourself liking this one too. I plays just like the old one, but better. With QOL improvements, smoothened graphics and some new ideas. Two downsides: - it's, unfortunately, an epitome of the old saying: "if life gives you lemons, it really doesn't matter, as you will get blasted from the other side of the room with no way of predicting that". Some say it's just high and demanding difficulty level, some say it's what makes this game compelling, others that this is just unfair design choice. One thing is sure, some more visibility on the hazards would be nice, the game's still challenging without it. - The Olmec fight. It's definitely too long for the pace that this game has. I don't see any reason not to change it completely. Nevertheless, it's a fun game to come back to once in a while to see if you can get lucky this time around, but be prepared for getting tilted, as for the ways in which you can die, Derek Yu came up with plenty.

A cute short game. In about 2 hours you can go through the whole story, and in 30 minutes after finishing you can get 100%. It feels like this game wasn't made to be reviewed, because it clearly aims to be just a short distraction from AAA titles. I loved the art-style, the game had enough mechanic twists to keep me interested (although I think it still has much more potential), and despite the hit-or-miss dialogue, on the whole, it was fun. But there is just nothing to come back to, both literally and figuratively.

The big return of Lara Croft, and this time, she is indestructible! At least that's how I picture this game would be advertised if it was a toy figurine. Seriously, she can get impaled, shot at multiple times, sliced a few and then thrown off a big cliff, and after a second she is just fine. I get the idea to mature the series a bit, but it seemed as if some of those gore moments were there solely to prove that the series will not hold back. Still, all these ideas that the creators came up with to torture Lara were beautifully directed, and competent level design made the gameplay feel swift and smooth. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the writing. All the characters, maybe except Lara, felt a little bland, and their dialogues were often just naive. The plot is one big adventure-movie cliche, which makes the story predictable and not that interesting. Set aside the writing, the game makes up for it with a lot, mainly with surprisingly fun old-school mechanics (even if a little too repetitive), and overall a fun experience, making this reboot of the Tomb Raider series a worthy one, and painting a promising picture for the future*. *which has already come (old man), so I'm getting right to it.

I do realise I'm a bit late to the party and a lot has changed since this game's release, but it did get a GOTY nomination (a win, at that) so I have to put my own spin on it. And well, I had fun. A large variety of characters to choose from, flaming with personality and uniqueness, each with their own story to which you can be exposed in a variety of ways. There are many maps that are justified plot-wise and they come with a vast collection of different modes, with ones exclusive to certain festivities. And of course, a lot of customisation options, but you can get your favourite skins without breaking a sweat just by playing the game, so that is a big plus. The main issue with this game is balance. It's not even the main issue, it's THE issue. I'm aware of how this game looked like when it released, and it is puzzling why they introduced the gameplay changes they did. As of now, there are two ways to enjoy quick-play/competitive modes: a queue with role regulations, and a queue where you can play whoever you want. I like the idea of making this game a little bit less chaotic with defining three main roles, but it is not fun that you have to wait roughly 8 minutes every time you want to play the DPS role, considering that this role has more than half of the game's characters in it. And the non-restrictive queue does not help with that either, since even if you try to play your favourite character, if it is out of meta, you will get stomped pretty quickly by those abiding it. And we are talking about the main modes, which means this is mainly how the game is supposed to be played, so it really does lower the score for me. But all these are flaws that can be fixed and it seems that Blizzard is slowly starting to realise its mistakes, though for the results we will probably have to wait for some time. If you haven't played this game yet, I recommend taking a few of your friends with you to try it out, since it still is a lot of fun and the price right now isn't too high. But for now, I recommend you stick to those non-competitive quirky modes, where people generally try to enjoy the game.

The amount of fun you can have here really depends on how you want to spend your time with Battletoads. Sure, you probably will get disappointed if you want the same amount of difficulty that was present in previous entries, but this game does not really want to be that same kind of game that it used to, and it shouldn't be treated like one just because it shares the name. Instead, we get a great party title, one that offers a lot of variety and greatly capitalises on the fact that three different people are playing it. It is a good mixture **** and a TV series with it's splendid art direction and entertaining cut scenes, and it offered me one of the best party game experiences I've ever had. But of course, it still has its downsides, like a lack of online multiplayer or having not too much to offer in terms of solo-play. I also wish some of the game modes weren't recycled so frequently and the humour wasn't as unbalanced as it was (though some of the scenes were truly hilarious), so let's cross fingers for improvements on those in, as they prompted, season 2 (whatever that should mean).

It's true that with friends this game can be hella fun, though it doesn't last long due to it allowing only 2 players per one console, even in games which could normally be played by 4 players, and I see no reason for that. I also see no reason for why should games like poker or blackjack have only round-limited game modes. It's only a few examples of the game lacking in functionality but with that said, the real joy of this game I found playing on my own. There is something really relaxing and enjoyable about just playing those classic board games, and especially learning ones that you have never played before. They all have how-to sections with which you can easily learn the basics, and some tips if you want to become a bit better. And those which seem more complicated even have their own tutorial mode. Thanks to that I, for example, learned how to play Riichi Mahjong, and spent many hours delving into it, as where without it, having a physical version of it, I would have probably just skipped it. It is not a game which I would play day after day, but I'll definitely come back to it once in a while, whether on a plane trip, or chilling at home, and with the amount of games it has, it is definitely worth the price.

Not a remaster, not a remake, but something much better. It's a whole reimagination of the 1998 game, that stays true to its original material, but makes it sensible in 2019/2020. It knows that the mysterious world of Raccoon City is gripping enough to make a player really want to solve all its old-school mysteries, even though at any moment another zombie might come out of the corner in search of human flesh. It knows that the real horrors are the ones happening in human brain, and it capitalizes on that perfectly. I hate horror games with all my might but I just couldn't get enough of this one, with its survival elements that add a whole another layer to it. As for any downsides, I wish the gameplay on the 2nd run had more differences at least in the story, so when we put it together it actually starts to make sense, and so it isn't just a iteration of the previously played one. I absolutely loved this game and with this one they've got a new fan in me.

Spirits are not that attractive in the long run (though they are a nice addition) and online could have been more thought-out, but the abundance of different angles you can approach this game from is just staggering. I was very surprised at how even my friends who do not play games at all were able to jump right into a fight and have fun. Though the game's mechanics are actually quite complex and the lack of a proper tutorial to learn them all is puzzling, it is an amazing party game, especially considering the amount of different modes and rules you can set. If you happen to really like the fighting mechanics, you can easily lose dozens of hours in it. And yes, it is a homage to the video games history like no other.

The game really struggles to find its identity. It can't decide if it wants to be a decision-driven game, a game focused on solving puzzles leading to unraveling a mystery or a game that stands out with its idea of presenting the story with the characters telepathic abilities and foggy memories. I has a few interesting ideas in those areas, but the pressure put on them is unbalanced, and they feel more like curious additions rather than inherent mechanics defining the game. As a result, the game feels like it has no basis and I was left wondering what kind **** am I playing as well as if this story wasn't really meant for a TV series rather than a game. Alaskan landscapes covered in snow look astounding for the kind of graphic accessibility their aiming at. Dontnod games have never looked that good. And the graphics really help to properly shape the characters as once again the game creators prove they are able to create memorable characters whether or not they are meaningful in the story. And for the story, it has it ups and downs, it has its dragged out scenes and emotionally intense moments (the former happening too often, unfortunately), but I am really thankful to Dontnod for once again being that important voice in the world which still greatly ignores the significance of mental disorders and sexual identity, and I applaud them for creating a game in which these mental occurrences are simply and accurately presented, really showing that they exist in real human lives all around us. They are the natural and immanent parts of the characters, not forced and unjustifiable presentations. They show them for what they are, displaying the world in a broader view, and this is the story's strongest virtue. It isn't the greatest game Dontnod ever made, it falls short in comparison to their previous games, but it puts a spotlight on important themes and delivers a rather relaxing and short adventure, and as a small addition to Xbox Game Pass i welcome it with open arms.

I LOVED climbing up the **** to a music festival, that section alone made the game for me. I had some trouble staying focused on this game so I didn't "binge-play" it, after every session feeling like I'm probably not gonna play it ever again but then, every once in a while I just couldn't shake the feeling that I want to play more of it just because of how fun it looks, so I always came back for a few hours and loved every second of it. On a more personal note: I wish they had given more incentives to chase after all those moons, since, sure, they were hidden in a lot of creative ways and just seeking them was fun, but I didn't feel encouraged enough to go after all of them because it felt like there was no real reward for that..

Some of the best level design I've ever seen in a Nintendo game and the game itself looks beautiful, possibly the best graphics of any Nintendo exclusive, and the cut-scenes appearing every so often marvelously prove that. Controls could use some improvement (although the combat is somehow very enjoyable) and the communication between the player and the game on what to do next could have been made clearer, but despite all that, it is a perfect game for handheld mode to play under a blanket on a cold Autumn day.

Pokemon formula has been proving to be timeless for many generations of consoles. Here we are, at the brink of a new decade, with Pokemon being the highest-grossing media franchise of all time, and yet it seems like for a good and polished game we will have to wait another few years. Every part of the game feels like it's unpolished in some way, the story is predictable and not interesting in the slightest and there are many additions which feel unnecessary, and the resources put to make them appear in the game could have been directed to making graphics look better or making multiplayer work intuitively. If you haven't played any Pokemon game for some time, go and grab this one (the best option being resale), as it still is a fun game. The Pokemon mechanics still work really well in 2020, the thrill of catching new monsters and making a team is still there, and the new Pokemon designs are very well done. It's just that Pokemon deserve better and releasing a game like that considering the franchise's position is just outrageous. It may not necessarily be Game Freak's fault, maybe they've done the best they could, and it's the pressure or lack of support from Nintendo or The Pokemon Company that resulted in all of this. But something definitely needs to change.

The satisfaction you get from killing certain enemies after numerous attempts to learn the fighting system and the patterns of the enemy is often immeasurable. But why does a game with such a beautiful setting, good level design and such interesting fighting mechanics have to be so damn hard - I have no idea. It seems like if this time FromSoftware at least in some way allowed the player to lower the difficulty, the game would've only benefited from that. Especially since some enemies get repeated a lot throughout the game making it a really tedious process to once again try to perfectly respond to its moves for another 5 minutes straight, and the constant exposure to the boss music and the god-awful design of the UI do not make it more pleasant. Nevertheless, it is a game made for a specific audience, one that can't get no satisfaction unless the game is profoundly difficult, so if that's how you would describe yourself and you got quick reflexes - it is probably your game of the year. It has a vast variety of different bosses and mid-bosses, most fights can be approached from at least a few different angles and exploring different areas in search for useful equipment is somewhat amusing, though not very engaging in the long run.

It seems like Ninja Theory not only perfectly combined what we currently know about mental disorders and illnesses (with an emphasis on psychosis) with Norse mythology, but also managed to resurrect the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe novels in the language of today, taking the art of portraying the horrors that can happen inside the human brain to a whole another level. It is an excruciating experience in a good sense, one that enlightens you and stays with you for a long time after. The sound design in this game is something that I hope game studios will aspire to in the years to come. The game mechanics are a bit repetitive and fights are pretty basic but for now, I can let it slide thanks to the one unconventional principle they introduced to the gameplay that really supports the story and makes you care for all that happens throughout (discover for yourself, I don't mean to spoil). Let's hope they will have more time to develop some new ideas for mechanics in the already announced sequel.

There were lots of hypotheses on what this game is gonna be about but at the end of the day, the premise of the story is really pretty simple: we are all connected. Now, this sentence is where the complexity begins, as Kojima masterfully expanded on the meaning of that sentence through many elements of his game. The characters are linked to one another in all kinds of quirky ways, the player is a bridge connecting not only residents of the United Cities of America but also other players playing this game, and as the story progresses, we can become more and more connected to the main character thanks to the great and pure performance of Norman Reedus. It's an astounding take on what the humanity in our world has become thanks to technology, embracing the most important thing it has granted us: the ability to connect with others and stay in touch. Kojima has mastered the art of creating quaint circumstances in which the player most probably has never found himself or herself in, and creating unique atmospheres and emotions, unexperiencable anywhere else. For that reason alone, it's a game worth playing. From the very start, the gameplay feels like a weird potpourri of the many amazing ideas the developers had, and it continues to prove itself as such through the next chapters. Unfortunately, this mixture of ideas doesn't always play well together, making it an unbalanced experience. I really wanted to give this game a higher score, but for the gameplay to start making sense one has to wait about 10 hours - only after that time did I first feel like I am playing an actual game with its own idea of playabillity. There are many elements that feel out of this planet, but then, they are succeeded by tedious gameplay choices, headed by the absurd boss fights with shooting elements that look like they were designed in a rush and feel out of place. I wish they had put more emphasis on the 'delivery' part of the experience - the game would have only benefited from it as it is the strongest part of the gameplay. The most amazing and weirdest part of it is that I could be very much alone in this opinion. There are many ways to choose and experience in this game and it very much felt like a constant journey in search of the way with which I would feel the most comfortable. What I mean by that is: it is really difficult to recommend this game to anyone, as everyone will find different elements of the game compelling. The only way to find out is to try it out. This game isn't a masterpiece yet and Kojima hasn't really invented a new genre as the rumors had been suggesting but he is definitely onto 'something'. He has already proven himself as an outstanding director, and if he ever decides to release a sequel, all he needs to do is improve on those parts that feel the most Kojima-esque and delete those parts that seem to be only there to please FPS and TPS players, and we might be in for an absolute masterpiece and one of the greatest games of the new decade.

Microsoft Flight Simulator really focuses on the third word in its title as the realism limits have been pushed by an outstanding amount, making it possible to fly over the whole planet Earth as we know it. It is an exquisite dish for the hardcore simulator players, but if you're looking to become one, it seems that the tutorial doesn't really explain most of the tricks of the trade, so you're gonna have to do some research on your own. Still, If you just want to become a casual pilot for a few days, the basics are easy to get the hang of, and after a few lessons you will be ready to spread your wings and feel the wind in your hair. Don't get your hopes to high - you probably won't be able to recognise your home building from up close, and this game does not intend to make it so. This is a flight simulator, and it should be treated like one, because the scope of it is enormous and the result, just by seeing all the places from the plane's view, is astounding. I've flown over places I've never seen, like Beijing, Tokyo and Chicago and it really made me understand how big and impressive these places are. Then, I've flown to cities I've been to, like Amsterdam, Warsaw or my hometown, and if nobody had told me what these places were, I still would've been able to recognise them - the landmarks were easily recognisable and some of the parts of the city were even accurately represented by the algorithm architecture-wise. As for my hometown, a few buildings disappeared or were just a colorful stain in the grass, but it didn't make much difference, as most of them were pretty accurate shape-wise when looked at from above. The game also introduced me to many beautiful places I never knew existed like Lukla, Paro, and, above all else, Courchevel, which I definitely recommend seeing for yourself if you get an opportunity to play this game. The adjustable weather graphics makes visiting them a real pleasure to the eye. Be it sunset, sunrise, rain, snow - it all looks breathtaking. The game beautifully captures the thrill of flying and seeing picturesque landscapes from above, the sheer joy of being in the air. I'm not sure if it will qualify for the Game of the Year, as it really is more of an experience and a representation of what people can do with today's technology, but it undoubtedly deserves at least a honorary mention in that category, as it is the first game that has managed to recreate the whole planet Earth, at least to some extent. How many hours can be spent here depends on what kind of a player you are, but here and now, for 1$ on the Xbox Game Pass, it is extremely worth it and almost feels like a robbery on the developers.

The most confusing part of this game is the unbalanced quality of graphics, so let's hope Obsidian will release sequels to improve on it and explore this game's universe full potential, as it seems to still have some of its original space glamour left, just waiting to be discovered.

7.5/10 Unfortunately, it's a step back from the inventions introduced in Quantum Break in terms of story-telling. Much of the story can only be accessed through the collectible pieces of paper, and there are A LOT of them, many totally irrelevant. I felt like the story had too many blank points - dialogues that were supposed to create mystery, but eventually felt redundant or not very important. One thing has to be said for the almost perfect game length - the main story line doesn't go longer than it needs to. It's defnitely for the best as the shooting parts after a few hours start to become a little tedious, though the gameplay itself is definitely an improvement compared to Remedy's last entry. Worth playing if you're a fan of sci-fi themes or looking for something not too long to play for an afternoon or two. Or at least just to have a chance to have fun in the 'ashtray maze'.

6.5/10. The core gameplay is really weak, though the hacking puzzles can be enjoyable. It's a shame that this game does not present a cohesive story and the main character is so dull as it could have been an important entry in the world of Internet dangers that are developing faster and faster. Still fun at times.

Brave, and well-delivered experiment of combining a TV series with a video game. It may be quite hard to grasp the idea of the plot of this game at the beginning, but if you give it a chance the story will reveal itself to be well-thought-out (the actors' performances are really great), the graphics are one of the best I've seen on Xbox One, and the gameplay is quite fun as well. Treat is as a one-season half-interactive action series that you would binge-watch on Amazon Prime, and you will have fun.

Maybe even 9.5/10. Definitely the best racing game I've ever played. This game's got everything you would want from an arcade racing game. Big open world map, with lots of activities that I would not even dare to try to describe as the scope of them is just enormous. Though the "main" activities could use some improvements, as well as the multiplayer features, the game is just super fun and even if you don't really like classical racing, you will definitely find something for yourself.

9.5/10 One of the best games I've ever played and I don't even care that the fighting, riding, skill trees etc. weren't really that great. This is an achievement in terms of story-telling. I wish every game developer would take story-telling as seriously as CD-Projekt RED. You can easily immerse yourself in this world for maaany, many hours and you will always find something new. Everything about the presented story is great - the graphics, the music, the characters, the plot, the side-quests, EVERYTHING. Once you get in, it's hard to get out. This game will always be in the back of your mind whispering "I know you want some more" haunting you like a Midday bride, I guarantee it. It already has and will stay with me for a very long time. Oh, and Gwent was super fun.

9.5/10 It's so wonderful that games such as this one are still something being produced and released. Even though tens of hundreds of people were working on this one, you can feel the incredible passion they have given to this game. The story is compelling and touching and it stayed with me for a long time. I can't give it 10/10 as some of the aspects of the gameplay got hurt by the constant rush to make this game as realistic as possible, which meant some controls weren't that good or some animations a bit too long which sometimes was frustrating. Still, a masterpiece ****. Rockstar's magnum opus.
