Once you get on its wavering wavelength — sentimental, sincere, sweet, a little silly, not overly concerned with making perfect sense — and realize the show is not out to hurt you, it’s a very enjoyable watch.

Ever since Stranger Things ended I've been following everything that the Duffer Brothers have a hand in. This series is really great and absolutely worth watching. The setting and storyline are on point. Characters are interesting and easy to connect to. The fact that all of main characters are seniors is a vibe I don't recall experiencing in recent memory but it works really well. I was surprised by how many crazy things they kept dropping onto us that begged for an explanation and kept you guessing.

Never as intense as Stranger Things, but also never as surprising, The Boroughs charms while plucking the heartstrings as its characters, especially Sam, contend with grief, loss, and regret while displaying admirable resilience and a timeless respect for Bruce Springsteen.

Early episodes of “The Boroughs” are stronger than those deeper in the season — again, this could have been a movie; eight episodes is at least two too many — but the show’s general vibe is upbeat and there are a few surprising twists along the way (although the show’s villain is exactly who viewers will guess it to be from the jump).

The set-up is intriguing and fun, with the first episode establishing an appealingly quirky tone that’s hopefully backed up by a worthy story across the eight episodes that will fully make proper use of these actors.

More than just a spiritual successor to Stranger Things, The Boroughs is an original sci-fi that succeeds on its own terms, even if it does need to iron out a few wrinkles, figuratively speaking.

The series’ writing is rarely up to the level of its actors, and Woodard in particular gets shortchanged by a character arc that runs all the way from morose to glum.

A great first two episodes, bringing a mystery and a cast filled with joy for their characters. Although the great acting never stops, the script and mystery falls short from episode 3 and onwards.
Predictable and riddled with plot holes, the end did not feel like a proper send off to the characters which all the actors deserved.
Beautiful visuals, beautifully shot, and amazing camera work, shows the great potential the show would have had if the writers didn't feel rushed to conclude/contain the show with only 8 episodes.
All in all, I recommend giving it a watch for the amazing acting, but be aware that the writing falls short fast.

It's refreshing to watch a TV series with an all-senior main cast, but the greatest mistake of 'The Boroughs' is trying so hard to be the next 'Stranger Things.' The premise is interesting, but it slowly gets into generic and predictable territory.

This is nothing more than a poorly written show full of caricatures and cliches'. It is so bad I found it to be offensive. And it isn't so bad in a fun or entertaining way. Nothing original - not an original thought. Pure formula which in itself can be ok but in this case it makes your eyes hurt. Not sure what they are trying for in this 'senior' community but it offends... it is what a bunch of 30 or 40 year olds must think of an older generation and it is offensive

It's bad. Episodes 1-4 aren't great, but watchable. Episode 5 might be the worst-written piece of garbage I have ever seen. Made me stop watching the series.
