Though extremely difficult to watch, “Eric” is outstanding. .... But there is one glaring issue. As Vincent becomes unhinged, he begins to visualize a real-life Eric who taunts him and follows him around. Though the furry blue monster is a manifestation of the puppeteer’s inner torment, it’s a distraction.

Eric packs a punch right where it hurts in the most thought-provoking of ways. It's brave and forthright in the themes it explores and hey, the inclusion of a puppet may stump many at first but it truly makes it a one-of-a-kind series.

Incredible film. The cinematography, acting and story line are all incredible. I was hooked in the first 5 minutes. Didn’t expect the ending to bring me to tears.

Really good, and actually Original. The set is amazing, Cumberbatch is really good in it, and it's funny, sad, terrifying all in one show. Easy to digest too, with just 6 episodes, and not dragged out for five seasons to get a storyline. I really loved this, to be honest.

There’s a lot to love in Eric, a show in which the whole cast and crew are dedicated to creating something unique. Sadly, all this effort is often hampered by how the series leading star, Cumberbatch, is stuck in a story loop that gets in the way of everything else.

There’s a lot about Eric we didn’t love. But, boy, we loved Benedict Cumberbatch’s performance as the troubled, grieving father of a missing child. It’s so good it might actually paper over most of the show’s flaws.

While there are a lot of individual aspects that are easy to admire, the series is a bit of a mess as a whole, a collection of ideas crammed into six hour-long episodes that Eric tries to wrap up too neatly by the final scene.

“Eric” is filled with enough important issues — and one big hairy quirk — to make it seem like a series filled with fresh, serious ideas. But they’re really just window-dressing around another bad-dad saga that’s too distracted chasing a long shaggy tail.

The six-part series melts into a CSI-like procedural with aims to tackle race, sexuality, and mental health, but can only muster the most superficial treatment of these subjects. Eric’s characters are as hollow as the puppets of its show-within-the-show – but, crucially, lack a skilled puppeteer to successfully bring them to life.

I devoured all 6 episodes in less than two days. The plot starts well, but runs out of steam at the end with a too classic "happy ending" (that's why I give it a 9 and not a 10). I highly recommend this interlude in the 80s, which deals with several social facts.

A very well-acted series with a screenplay all over the place. 'Eric' tries to tackle so many social themes that the main plot, about a supposedly kidnapped kid, becomes irrelevant. And, to be honest, all that thing about the puppet feels so forced and obvious. The similar themed series 'Full Circle' is better. Still an entertaining watch.

Good performances by Cunberbach,Hoffman and Belcher .They are convincing and carry their story arcs well. However, the movie layers on social themes and culture are perripheral, hurried and just outright clumsy. They checked the box and then went back to the main story but the damage was done. You will not be recommending this seriesto anyone

Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the creator of a popular children's show in the vein of Sesame Street. When his son goes missing, he decides to create a new puppet to bring him back. Sounds simple enough, but the narrative splits in numerous directions, including a subplot with a closeted cop (McKinley Belcher III). All of this extra clutter blocks any momentum that the drama might have developed. Frankly, the new puppet is an obnoxious presence that doesn't really add much in way of fantasy or even resolution. Creative types can be quirky, but Cumberbatch creates a character who's not likable and an addict to boot. If this series had been more focused on the central plot, it might have created some anxiety, but the shifting focus and uneven emotions made this more jumbled and less effective. (8 one-hour eps)

This show was such a drag and a pure waste of my time. I generally enjoy most Netflix limited series. Not this one. Every single character is unlikable it's insane
