It is exactly what it is, harmless escapism, and on its own terms it is enormously successful. We wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s subversive, but Emily in Paris is definitely in on the joke. It winks at the audience. We know this is all ridiculous, it says, but don’t worry about it. Just keep watching.

I gobbled up the 10 episodes of the fluffy Netflix show, available on Friday. If nothing else, it’s an escape from, you know, everything, as well as a ravishing tour of the City of Light. It’s travel porn, with a plot. ... [Emily's boss] Sylvie is beautifully played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who steals the show with her hauteur. There are many, many scenes of Sylvie sighing with disgust over Emily, bemoaning the younger woman’s lack of subtlety. I savored each one.

Although I was familiar with “Emily in Paris”, I decided to rewatch them. The main hero is Emily, a woman from Chicago. She relocated to Paris and started work in a new firm called Savoir. Emily’s story includes a lot of affairs and interesting meetings. She joins her private life and work. Emily can hold on in difficult situations and enjoy the little things. How is her life going on? And what will be? This series is for people who love affairs, love, genuine emotions and observe real life. I advise you to notice beautiful outfits and scenes while watching. I recommend you to watch “Emily in Paris”. You can choose the original version for watching, especially if you would like to learn English.

The main characters express their concern, disappointment, and desire to change, ultimately demonstrating that the show's writers are, in fact, listening to the feedback from their devoted audience.

Even if Emily in Paris is a bit misguided and features familiar narrative beats to the point it is something we've all seen before — and it definitely is; hell, you can even argue it's the same show Star always produces — romance ultimately never goes out of style.

It is also not nearly as funny as it should or could be. It reminds me of one of those influencers, too busy simpering into the mirror and trying to look perfect to provide any proper belly laughs or insights. Although Driver may improve matters on that score since it looks like she’s staying for the next series.

Series two has not changed at all, packing in the same old “oh là là” French clichés and being almost gleefully bad.

Here is a partial list of all the people who will not enjoy Netflix’s new series, Emily in Paris: 1. French people. ... 6. Anyone who has seen a picture of the Eiffel Tower. 7. Anyone who’s eaten a croissant. ... Emily in Paris is just Emily in “Paris”, and we ought to leave her there to get on with it.

I personally loved this show. They represent Ukrainians in an odd way, but it's ok. Every other episode there was a very funny joke that made me replay the last 10 seconds of the episode a couple of times. They portray influencers as if they had braincells, but I'm pretty sure that isn't true. There was really nice scenery. In my opinion the characters were really poorly written, and the music couldn't have been matched in a worse way, but it's funny nonetheless. It's very fun to criticize this show among friends, which is what makes it as good as it is. This show also had some really intellectual quotes, I think you'll be able to point them our yourself (the quotes are really **** stupid and I want you to avoid them at all costs) Important note: I loved this show because it's bad in a funny way, not because it's good. Summary: Ukrainians steal, influencers are smart, French people are rude and Paris is made for tourists who wanna go shopping for million dollar clothes.

The setting, music, and cinematography are well done and all of the actors are very attractive, so visually it's very pleasing but it's just not realistic at all unless you are among the very well paid salaried workers. She basically lives, works, and hangs out in the most charming areas of Paris and everyone she is around, including herself, look like models / former models. Both the culture clash (American in Paris) and the romance and the tension with other women are all really cliche. On the one hand, the mostly idyllic alt-reality escapism feels good at a time like we're in right now, but at the same time, if you're not well off and living a similar bougie lifestyle, it's very easy to feel envious and frustrated real life is nothing like this. Highly recommend watching Call My Agent! instead, an actual French comedy-drama series that is more realistic, though it exaggerates things for humor, and much better written. One of the actresses is actually in both shows. It's also on US Netflix right now with subtitles.

Ohh my god writing cliché after cliché, bland characters like Gabriel who the writer just keeps in the show despite no originality to it whatsoever, and open doors you see from miles away...season 5 is horrible, and the show is dead to me, especially after how season 5 ****. Also quite racist - of course it's the white guy who will end up with Emily in the end, not the Latin or Black guy.

The point of show: Americans are the best persons in the world, French are the worst persons in the world. Racist show, stupid humor, boring plot. Vanity project
