Devil May Cry (2025)

Devil May Cry isn't just one of the best new animated shows of 2025, it's one of the best shows of the year so far overall, and one that's deserving of the same level of success that Castlevania has rightly enjoyed.

Though the plot remains a bit predictable and the animation suffers from its use of CG, Vergil is a great addition to the show and brings with him a darker tone, a compelling emotional story, and some kick-ass fight scenes.

It does feel like a slight step down, but even then, the absolutely sensational technical aspects and visuals flawlessly emulate the classic Capcom series and boast more than enough bloody great spectacle to satisfy more casual fans.

Devil May Cry is not without flaws, including horrendous use of CG, bad jokes, and predictable characters. And yet, Adi Shankar and Studio Mir craft a fun video-game adaptation that doubles as a deranged, bonkers, and bold homage to and indictment of '00s Americana.

If you’re a fan of the video game franchise, then you’ll likely want to skip this series just on principle, but if you’re new to the world of Devil May Cry or a returning Season 1 viewer who loves exciting action and doesn’t mind a slightly underwhelming plot, then give Season 2 a shot.

The dialogue sometimes reaches a little too hard to find its edge or gets too caught up in winking references, including one to Iron Man 3 in which a character shrieks about flying armor. Not that the series often gives a lot of time to dwell on these downsides. It moves with lightning [s]peed, bouncing from one frenetic fight sequence to another.

There's a cohesive project there that needs a little refining but has definite potential.

This series is so peak, i love this and i love devil may cry, this is so based

Devil May Cry is a good anime if you dont think its a adaptation but if you look from the adaptation part it starts getting worse.İf i start saying its problems it will be many but spesifically dante and lady is trash and Adi Shankar thinks dmc is some sort of Daredevil:Born Again type diplomacy but its not.Kick this guy please. 65/100

A pointless animated series and a bad adaptation. The quality is quite average, the story has no surprise and no sense, the OST is only strong enough to give a bit of entertainment. All the fight scenes are ordinary, all the plotline is forgettable. What is the meaning of this in the end ? It's just boring when the Capcom game is way more funny...

Not fun at all. The entire series is just one big “what the hell” from start to finish. This is the kind of show that made me sign up on Metacritic just to review it, saying it’s not worth a second of anyone’s time. Why even make it? Making both humans and demons suffer for what purpose?If they really wanted to do something new, they should’ve just killed off this version of Lady—then have her corpse get desecrated by a rabbit or something—and only then have Dante chop his head off.
