Trolls Band Together

It is sweet without being sugary, colorful, and very charming, with terrific voice talent and a lot of music. It’s the best of the three.

Trolls Band Together is a glitter-encrusted variety pack of a movie. Packed with millennial boy-band humor, sibling love and snippets of pop songs, the third film in the Trolls franchise is an explosion of color tailored to a new generation of parents and their Gen Alpha kids.

Trolls Band Together hits its chosen notes with its trademark glitter-drunk energy and some bonkers visual invention, but its mashing up of shiny pop hits (not to mention past Trolls movies) approaches exhaustion.

The animation is strong, if too candy-coated, and the film is clever and funny from time to time. And parents might even find their own inner boy band fever ignited alongside their kids.

Trolls Band Together never lets the family adventure color outside the lines.

It’s a fairly standard-issue sequel which pads out its thin-to-invisible storyline with a number of self-consciously garish animated interludes all in varying styles.

It’s annoying and one-note and so relentless in its cheeriness that it eventually comes to seem almost likeable. At least there are great voice performances underneath all the felt and pop mash-ups.

It isn't the best Trolls film, but this movie has solid jokes, lots of charm, catchy songs, plenty of heart, and beautiful animation that makes it a delightful watch. It's another solid installment in the trolls franchise.

Trolls Band Together serves up another amusing, eye-catching outing that should entertain young fans of the franchise while remaining perfectly painless for parents.

Yep, that was a Trolls movie- a third one in fact. Actually, y'know what, that's unfair- these films at least deserve some credit where its due. Personally after getting past the whole, "these movies are annoying" phase, I actually felt considerably warmer toward them. They're cute and harmless one-off fun and I don't think its fair to completely decry them just as a result of their jukebox nature. With that said, yeah this movie is still pretty loud and in your face and openly poppy and- IT'S A LOT! Especially if you're not really the intended crowd for these which is anyone under the age of...Small. But like, that's fine! Kids can have their things that adults aren't as interested in and from my own experience being around them, they **** ADORE Trolls. Personally won't be seeking it out again but it was a charming little investment of an hour and a half.
