What really struck me was the great production design, really nice sets and costumes. It was overly colourful but I didn’t hate it. Comedy is subjective, I was rather indifferent to it, admittedly I did laugh a handful of times because it is so awkward and ridiculous. That was near the start, after a while the constant comedy became tiresome. Sheri Moon Zombie is as badly cast as always but the rest are fine. The more I watched the more I didn’t like the editing and cinematography. The Paris bit was my least favourite by a long shot for so many reasons like it’s pointless and ugly and some of the signs are in English which makes no sense as it was filmed in Budapest. The script is the most egregious problem with this film, thinly drawn characters, lack of story in favour of repetitive jokes. Almost nothing that happens is due to the actions of the protagonists. It’s fine for twenty minutes, it’s bad for over a hundred minutes.

This film failed to capture the charm and humor of the original show. Herman is now a modernized comedian, who seems to philander about town by using his newfound fame. This is supposed to be the story of how they got together, yet I don't believe it. Lily acts like a dimwitted floozy, not the smart and charismatic woman I had come to know. This may be titled "The Munsters", but it most certainly is not. Spend your evening watching the original show in black and white. I guarantee you will have a nice laugh.

When I watched the trailer of The Munsters, I was disappointed, but I came across a much better movie than I thought. At least it managed to amuse me partly. It can be an enjoyable project for horror comedy and horror history lovers.

I bought this movie… I wish I didn’t own this movie. It feels like your life is being wasted as you spend time watching this train wreck. The jokes miss, the characters are not likeable, the plot and writing and direction is a mess. Rob zombie is an interesting guy, but this has to be the final nail in the coffin on having any input on movie making. Do yourself a favour and watch anything else.

One of those “what am I watching ?” and “why am I watching it ?” sort of movies. The 90’s Addams Family movies are so much better. If Rob Zombie was a fan he should have called Tim Burton and asked him if he could make a Munsters movie. This I was going to say is Batman & Robin like bad but it might actually be worse. Fans of the show, I can’t actually even say will enjoy this since I am a fan of the show… Jorge Garcia as Floop is at least not phoning it in and it takes awhile to realize he was Hurley in Lost. Though yeah I can’t say this will lead him to bigger and better movies either way. The movie is like an episode of the show and the end probably would have worked better if it was. For a movie it leads to nothing special or worthwhile. At least my older brother who loves Adam Sandler movies asked me if there will be more. Actually hoping there will be more lol. Nope, despite feeling like a pilot episode to a show. Whatever it was, it was supposed to actually be a movie. The Razzies would love this but they seem to snub Netflix movies.

Rob needs to stop casting his wife in every movie. Also, Munsters is best as a series. Rob should have created a limited series. Oh well....

A Prequel to One of Rob Zombie's Favorite TV Shows, and It Shows, is Called "Labor of Love." He Clearly Put Extra Time Into the Details and Minor Elements of This Underrated Throwback to the TV Series that Aired in the Middle of the "Monster" Fad of the Late 50's and Early 60's. Without a doubt, the craze was sparked by the massive magazine hit "Famous Monsters of Filmland" by Forest J. Ackerman (debut 1958). Well into the 1980s, The Influential, Fun, and Fantastic Mag was published. Along with "The Addams Family," "The Munsters" was a popular television series that even spawned a feature film, "Munster Go Home" (1966).

This might be the worst movie I have ever seen. As a fan of the TV show, I was expecting some fairly good humor and comedy. However, I never laughed once. The jokes were non existent, the characters looked fine for the most part, but the comedy didn't exist. It was like watching a train wreck. The only reason i give it a 1 is because the visuals were fairly okay. It still looked as if it was filmed with a point and shoot, but the backgrounds and colors were okay.

I didn't expect much from this movie, but I figured with it being helmed by a major Munsters fan that it was in good hands... I was wrong. This movie is an insult to the original series and the original stars of the original series. This movie drags and drags and when they finally get to the iconic house... it ends.

I'm not sure why people hate this film. Maybe they haven't watched the original series? It was cheesy then even the movie was cheesy. I thought it was awesome. I love the environment, the plot, and the characters. I wish they could make another.

Super cute! I'm glad I watched it. A couple wonky camera angles, but that's Zombie for you

No idea why everyone is hating on this, it's a great prequel for what the show is, and the best thing about it is hanging out with these silly, super fun characters. I could watch Herman for hours, though it takes a few minutes for him to fully warm up to you. It's also great that we spend the first half of the movie in the Transylvania world that the Munsters came from.

I'm a little sick and tired of all the undeserved negatively this film is receiving. I actually enjoyed it so much that I went out and bought the blu-ray the day after viewing. The Munsters has a look and style that is visually unprecedented. I truly have never seen anything so vivid and captivating. It's the literal and emotional honorarium to the 60's TV show that I loved so much as a child. How anyone expected anything different than its quirky and corny influence is beyond me. I watched this with my girlfriend and 2 close friends. We were all completely mesmerized and thoroughly entertained the entire time, and there were several moments where we all burst out laughing. It was such a good time! This movie is destined to become a cult classic like many others that initially failed with critics. I can see this becoming a Halloween staple of viewing season after season to come. Being PG it's something EVERYONE can experience together. Thank you Mr. Zombie.

Another zombie masterpiece! Definitely a nostalgia extravaganza. Not sure why a Munsters fan would not love this.

"The Munsters" (2022, 75-mins, D/P Rob Zombie) is such a big disappointment. It wreaks of "effort", you know, trying to be campy but isn't, trying to be cute but is awkward instead. There's definitely a Mel Brooks comedy/parody vibe but it doesn't commit to it. This reflects badly on directory Rob Zombie. He must've assured the execs he knew what he was doing, but he didn't come through. However, the set and production design is really good, especially all the colorful lighting and tilted views which recalls '60s "Batman". The acting is pretty uneven, too, no one really stands out as really good as their character though Sheri Zombie (Rob's wife) as "Lily" comes closest. Jeff Daniel Phillips as "Herman" doesn't deliver the '60s character either, think more Jim Carrey, ugh. This could've/should've been an awesome throwback, but it's just more phoned-in, wasted potential we've seen all through this Covid-era.

Zombie's love letter to the classic TV show is an incoherent mess of a story that lacks any kind of proper narrative or structure. The cast feels dedicated to over-act everything in an attempt to make dated humor funny, spoiler alert - It doesn't work. The only good thing you can say about this movie is that the set and costume designs look great. Other than that, It is rough to watch. It took me 2 attempts to just sit through it.

A pretty boring movie, couldn't get past minute 40 and i was really trying. I think rob zombie is not cut out to direct comedy.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie from beginning to end. It had all of the goofy humor of the original, the same loveable characters, and a few aspects of horror sprinkled on top. I usually detest Rob Zombie films, but this one won me over. I know there will be lots of bad reviews, and honestly probably from people who didn't bother watching the film, but I highly recommend it (as a fan of the original show I highly recommend it). Hopefully a sequel is in taks because I'd love to see where he takes this story.
