Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 lets its animated heroes shine. There’s less “live” in this impressively blended live-action movie, which is not a detriment.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is wired-up synthetic fun. It’s a trivial kiddie flick that moves at the speed of your mind playing video games.

Once Carrey’s frenetic performances kick into gear, he gets to take this movie to incredibly strange places, ensuring that it will probably work for the adults in the audience as well as the little kids who dragged them there.

It’s hard to settle on what’s more bombastic: Carrey’s admittedly virtuoso double act, or the teeming computer graphics gadgetry of death and destruction spilling out of every corner of the screen.

Better jokes, better imagery, and two (!) inspired comic performances by Jim Carrey give this Sonic sequel an edge on its predecessors.

Slightly better than its predecessors, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 works hard to entertain — it has the odd bright moment — but overall lacks surprise, freshness or anything to set the heart racing. It’s a Saturday-morning cartoon writ long.

Even by the depressing standards set by the Mortal Kombat movies, Uncharted and the first two miserable Sonic the Hedgehog outings, this third Sonic is staggeringly poor.

The metascore is only 56 because it is an entertaining movie that doesn't give a lecture which upsets critics.

Entertaining but predictable sequel, it's a great entry for Sonic fans. Feels a bit stale though in its third entry, and for sure, I am not the target market for this flick.

Liked it a lot less than the other Sonic films, Jim Carrey was the only highlight of this film, double the fun !!! Shadow could have been made better, Knuckles was a more funny film/show, I know Shadow is the dark sad one, but it didn't make for an interesting character. I feel like a lot of scenes or things were missing that were showcased a lot in the other films like the home dynamic with Donut Lord.

The small handful of references and jokes Definity can't save this film. I guess this review contains spoilers, if you've never seen a trailer for the movie. The moment there's a second James Carrey on the screen the movie takes a turn for the worse. The entire thing becomes the James Carrey show, making it to where scene after scene is just him acting like a buffoon with no one else on screen. There's no lesson, or true story. Sonic saves Shadow, Eggman saves the world, and they try to fake it out as if every dies again. Knuckles was genuinely fun to watch and saves the entire group twice without any special McGuffins. Probably the only redeeming quality of this slop. It's sad, I actually thought the other two were fine movies.
