This was way better than I thought it'd be and I'm really glad that I ended up seeing it. I haven't watched any masters of the universe cartoons since the 90's, but there were lots of moments where I was like "oh yeah there was a guy with triangles for eyes with an extendable neck" or "there was a skull castle and a snake castle". It's written quite well. There's enough jokes in there for adults, some that reference how stupid the names of characters where in the toy line and they do mostly land. I did really enjoy how this was the opposite to the messaging in most children's films today. It was very anti-HR culture. What Adam learned in the end was that you can't always talk your way through problems and that some people are just evil (they're not turned evil by power or greed, they just are evil). The fight scenes were pretty good, the CGI was mostly really good with the only exception being the forest chase scene. Jared Leto was really good in this film. Turns out all you had to do was have him play a character that's completely CGI and run his voice through a modulator so you can't tall it's him! It is however a pitty that they killed the romance off between Adam and Tella, I don't say this often in children's films but it would have worked plot wise. It's a pity this likely won't get a sequel (there was only 2 others in the cinema when I watched it) as it was really good.

Película entretenida y con mucho fan service. Si naciste en los 80 con estos personajes, te gustará.

I grew up with the action figures, comics and german audio plays. Only learned about the cartoon series later in life. I was a bit wary of this at first because of some changes like race swapping men-at-arms, gender bending roboto etc. But in the end i LOVED this movie. It just works and it is a ton of fun. Yeah it is not perfect, too much comedy at times, and some things could have been better. But i has heart, it is fun and acutually made us lough out loud at times and some of the action is really cool. I really hope there will be a sequel.

It's a very entertaining movie. Yes, nostalgia sells but it is well handled. Much of the "absurd" is really a great tribute to the animated series of the 80s, so the bad reviews are being unfair because of it. Do yourself a favor and go see it if you grew up in the 80s-90s.

They tried to be funny, not fun enough, just awkward jokes It was not action-packed enough either. Plot wasn't absorbing... 70% of movie was sleepy I regret watching this movie at theater.

I'm a cynical woke-hating film snob and I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this movie! Great time at the theater. Giving it a 10/10 because I really can't imagine a better He-Man movie, especially in 2026!

The new 'Masters of the Universe' movie basically functions as the Marvel version of He-Man. It's undeniably entertaining at times, but its long runtime, reliance on jokes, generic story, and excessive CGI are reminiscent of the worst of Marvel. Ironically, Jared Leto's Skeletor becomes the funniest element. While Nicholas Galitzine seems committed to his role, this second adaptation ultimately feels like a parody.

Not sure why anyone would give this a low rating, the movie was pretty dang awesome. Great actors, top notch effects, and great atmosphere. If you rate it low, I almost guarantee it's someone overthinking it, probably gave Barbie a 10. Either way, it's exactly right where it needs to be in all aspects.

Grogu and HeMan are both amazing visual fantasy movies. We are spoiled in this day and age of perfect AI CGI cinema. He Man must have been rendered at 8k or 16k. Incredible 3d scenes of Eternia and some explosions / laser I've never seen before in my life. Well done. No one should expect a Shakespeare story from a summer blockbuster. He Man also had some scenes with knods to Queen and Flash Gordon. I just hope sequels that Skeletor gets his high pitched cackle back.

Masters of the Universe is an engaging and enjoyable film showcasing strong performances and fun, imaginative scenes. The cast brings energy and charisma, making most interactions lively and entertaining. The visual design and settings are impressive, immersing viewers in a vivid universe. However, the film occasionally relies on overused jokes, which can feel repetitive at times, and some plot moments may be predictable. Despite these minor flaws, it remains a fun watch, combining great acting with imaginative visuals in a mostly entertaining adventure.

Me pareció entretenida, pero esperaba mucho más. Tiene una historia algo genérica y los efectos especiales pudieron estar mejor. Tiene pocos personajes realmente memorables, pero aun así se deja ver y funciona como una aventura ligera.

Let's be honest from the very start: I am completely aware of this movie's flaws, its simple plot, and the areas that definitely need improvement. Yet, despite all of that, I absolutely loved it. As a childhood fan, this film made me genuinely happy and delivered an incredibly entertaining ride. The visuals, the special effects, the cinematography, and the camera angles are highly interesting and well-crafted. The action choreography is top-notch, the world of Eternia feels alive, and my god—what an absolute banger of a soundtrack! A huge part of why this works is the fantastic cast. The main leads are incredible, especially the actor playing He-Man, who completely nails both facets of the character. And despite the initial internet skepticism surrounding Jared Leto, his Skeletor is absolutely magnificent. He looks incredible and perfectly balances that menace with the signature, glorious ridiculousness that makes Skeletor who he is. Underneath the surface, the movie captures the essence of the characters, embedding sincere, human themes. It relies heavily on exaggerated humor, including some mature, cheeky jokes. It’s honestly hilarious and a bit bizarre to see that kind of adult wit integrated here, but it works as great entertainment. While it might fall short of being a flawless masterpiece, it definitely scratches that surface. The direction is solid, and I personally loved the entire pacing, from the beginning straight to the epic final scenes. It’s a genuine shame that it didn't do well at the box office. It reminds me a lot of what happened with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (seeing Neverwinter on the big screen was sublime!) or the Warcraft movie. These are projects made with actual heart that a lot of people nowadays fail to appreciate due to shifting trends or modern culture. But this unique blend of epic fantasy, sci-fi tech, and magic has so much potential. It’s a highly rewatchable film that left me incredibly satisfied. No spoilers, but please stay until the absolute end of the credits! There are basically 3 parts: an epilogue and two post-credit scenes that are absolute gold. It’s been a long time since post-credit scenes genuinely excited me like this. Rating it a solid 8/10 is my way of staying objective, but it's a 9 in my heart. This kind of fantasy is what keeps us sane and alive amidst the chaos and sadness of the real world. Long live these projects, and bring on the sequels!

I loved this movie. Seems like some people are hoping for something different, but I’m not sure what they wanted. This seemed like the classic He-Man cartoon updated with awesome visuals and fight scenes. The comedy is well suited for 6-12 year olds and that’s who this toy was designed for. Every single character was likable and the story was easy to follow with a great message. I would go see this on the biggest screen you can find because it’s definitely worth it.

My original intention was NOT to see this (superhero fatigue and all that). But since the reviews have mentioned the almost-campy approach, I gave it a shot and was disappointed again (damn reviewers). Nicholas Galitzine plays the prince of an alien planet, who must leave Earth to save his home from the evil reign of Skeletor (the unrecognizable voice of Jared Leto). It’s crammed with lots of noisy and unoriginal fights and chases. There are a few funny self-effacing cracks, but most of the dialogue is the typically-leaden drama you expect from this genre. The film’s best asset is Galitzine, he’s appealing by keeping the character grounded in his vulnerability and humanity. Otherwise, there’s nothing worth watching. NOTE: As per this genre, stay thru the credits for a teaser.

Fantastic film, especially entertaining — it masterfully incorporates memes and pop culture as self-criticism, delivering fan service in a joyful and organic way. The two-plus hours of runtime fly by, presenting an Adam/He-Man consistent with the character's mythology and the current era, where the audience that once played with the action figures is now pushing fifty. The surprise hit of 2026, well worth catching in cinemas before it leaves the screen.

I think this movie delivers exactly what you should expect from it if you remember the original animated series: adventures, humor, and epic moments in abundance. It’s also fantastic for kids. I absolutely loved the nods to the 80s Dolph Lundgren movie, as well as the references to the memes that have popped up over the years. Skeletor is incredibly well done and he plays the part brilliantly. That being said, if you're looking for a serious superhero movie in the style of Nolan or Zack Snyder, this is definitely not the movie for you.

Our childhood is back! Maybe the joke factor is a bit high but on the other hand, character impressions, story, visual, music, actors-casting is more than fine! The best thing what could happened to old school guys and is also a good entertainment for the family and youngters.

Nostalgia bait? Yes, but only to a certain section of the movie-going audience. He-Man is not exactly a popular pop culture hero for the present generation. The only glimpse we got of their universe was the animated series on Netflix, which wasn't all that memorable. The simplicity and the quirk of the original cartoon is unbeatable. I was happy to see some of that translated for the live action movie. Adam was never transported to Earth as we know it in the cartoons but in the movie, he is sent there to keep him safe. He returns years later to claim the rightful place in Eternia, as their hero. You remember Nicholas Galitzine from Sheep Detectives, in which he played a reporter. Nicholas transforms into Adam or He-Man in what feels like a role he was meant to play. This version of Adam is socially awkward, so there is that angle to play around with. And the transformation scenes are few, so you savour it even more. The star of the movie has to be Jared Leto. He brings out the sinister vibe but also adds something from his end that makes it unique. And I am guessing all the visual effects budget went towards Skeletor's face because it looked flawless. Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, James Purefoy, Kristen Wiig, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin **** of my issues with the movie was how Cringer was depicted. Maybe they will rectify it in future installments. And the other has to be the He-Man theme from the cartoons. They missed using that in the movie. That was one of the highlights of the cartoons. Masters of the Universe will appeal to all those who grew up watching He-Man. It is catered specifically for them. But it is also a very vibrant and fun movie. So do check it out.

This is genuinely better then it had any right being it feels like something that was made for the fanbase with a lot of references to the fanbase specifically, and I genuinely do think that the highlight of this movie is Jared Leto, who did a great job at bringing Skeletor to life, which honestly kind of surprised me that I am saying that

This movie was just about as good as it could possibly be. Those who are decrying it being "woke" or feminist clearly never watched the cartoons, or if they did they didn't understand them, and will only be happy with whatever story they come up with as they bang their action figures together.

It’s a fun action hero summer movie. Way better than the Star Wars: Mandalorian & Grogu. Don’t let other people judge the movie for you, go and watch it.

The movie has a fun way of introducing the source material. I took my kids to see it eight and five years old. They loved it the mix of comedy and not taking itself too seriously with the action was well balanced. I wish they could continue this franchise would love to see what they would add next

Coming from the country partcipating with his taxmoney in a corporate advertisement from Mattel & Amazon this is the worst and most stupid piece of advertisement I have seen in decades. Its plastic garbage, no-sense filmmaking (-using) dialogues and editing, CGI of hell and actually no reason to exist. FanService is a term that is misleading since they practically force you to buy Mattel Crap. Since our german funding system relies on so to say "tax-robbery" this the worst steal ever. Will boycott corporate trash for life!

I went to this movie with my entire family and really enjoyed it. It was the perfect summer blockbuster movie and popcorn flick. It had action, jokes, heart and an overall positive message for kids. There were even a few tongue in cheek jokes for adults baked in. What is not to like?I highly recommend that you go see it. You don't have to be a fan of the He-Man cartoon from the 1980s in order to appreciate it. This movie deserves to do well and is not a box office bomb in my opinion.

Solid movie. Well done. It is fun, with some missing connections between situations but it does not hurt the meaning and sequence of events.
In portuguese: Legal e divertido, com nostalgia. Tem Tiro, Porrada, e Bomba. Pode ser bem violento para uma criança de 12 mas é tranquilo de 14 para cima. Sem sangue.

While originally skeptical I was impressed with the love and attention given to the source material, the fearlessness to not 're-imagine' classic characters, as well as the over the top action. It was a lot of fun.

A really fun and dumb movie that understood the assignment. The film really leans into how ridiculous Masters of the Universe actually is and then just runs with it.

As someone who never watched the show, I thought it was fun! That being said, I watched it in a 4K theater, and that was literally a wild ride. The lead actor is solid, and the famous actors playing the secondary parts are all really good! Special props to Camila Mendes (Riverdale) for bringing something extra to that role.

Just saw this movie and excellent fun! They nailed it and this had something for all ages. No woke and very smart story telling which gave this movie that magic movies used to have. The nostalgia was being placed hidden all over the place and it was fun to see. The jokes and the way this movie was done is complete genius. I really hope they make a 2nd movie to piggy back off this one…..post credit scene….wink wink!

Loved this movie, brought pure magic back to my soul. My 13 year old daughter loved it too. Do yourself a favour - go see it! As good as a Marvel movie and similar in humour to Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a whole new world, a whole new team of super hero characters, special effects, wonderful stories, music score perfect. Smiled the whole time!

Boa fantasia medieval espacial. Alguns personagens estão descontruídos, me deixando desanimado. Sabemos que o físico do He-Man é exagerado, mas um cadin mais de músculos no ator cairia bem. Com certeza assistirei novamente dublado.

Masters of the Universe is a love letter to every kid who owned the toys and stayed up for Saturday morning cartoons - and it mostly knows exactly what it's doing. Travis Knight delivers a bright, action-packed adventure that respects the source material's campiness without being cynical about it. The production design nails the 80s aesthetic, the action sequences are genuinely fun, and Daniel Pemberton's synth score hits perfectly. Even the jokes land (Ram Man and Fisto never stood a chance). Nicholas Galitzine isn't the bulky He-Man you'd ideally cast, but once the sword comes out and the fights begin, his physical shortcomings fade into the background. Jared Leto and Alison Brie steal scenes as delightfully hammy villains, and the Dolph Lundgren cameo is a nice touch. The real problem is the final 20 minutes - what should've been a straightforward, crowd-pleasing climax gets muddled and loses narrative focus. It's a frustrating stumble at the finish line. Still, for anyone who grew up with these characters, this is mandatory viewing. 7.5/10.

After my second time watching Masters of the Universe, I’ve revisited my review and upgraded my score. It’s not perfect—but I don’t care. It’s silly, funny, heartfelt, and sincere, with a clear affection and respect for the source material. It also handles its themes of heroism and masculinity in a straightforward, good-hearted way rather than anything cynical or deconstructive, which feels increasingly rare in some modern takes. It’s campy, nostalgic, and action-packed, filled with Easter eggs and fan service, and it leans fully into being a loud, colourful fantasy adventure. Above all, it’s just pure, unpretentious fun. A bombastic summer blockbuster that works for kids, families, and long-time He-Man fans alike. I’d genuinely encourage seeing it in the cinema—it left me grinning like a kid, and I enjoyed it even more on a second viewing. 10/10

I'd heard good things, and even then I was surprised by how much I liked Masters of the Universe. To sum it up, this is one of the funnest films I've seen in years. Action packed, solid pacing, good humour, and ultimately a good message about what it means to be a man to bring it home (hint: it's about protecting the ones you love, and having the strength to be kind). The biggest flaw imo was that sometimes you couldn't hear what Skeletor was saying, which was a shame because the lines you could hear were perfect. He's the perfect cartoon villain brought to life, and Jared Leto did such a good job you wouldn't even tell it was him (and of course that's a good thing). Skeletor was a great villain, simultaneously totally evil and also fun to watch. I liked how they introduced the names of all the various characters. (But having said that I feel they missed an opportunity for a few jokes. Like you joke about "Fisto", but no-one comments that Evil-lyn is called EVIL-Lyn?). The humour in general though was very good. The age rating mentioned "innuendo", and boy if you like "sword" innuendos, you'll love this movie. The film also does a surprisingly great job of satirising modern culture. Adam works in an environment that highlights everything wrong with modernity. Non-confrontational to a fault. And this is nicely juxtaposed against real world-ending threats when Adam gets to Eternia. Ultimately Adam reaches a nice middle ground by the finale of the film, and I don't want to give any spoilers, but how he deals with Skeletor in the climax of the film is perfect.

Masters of the Universe When I was 7 years old, in 2nd grade, I noticed a kid in the playground holding a blond haired, jacked and stacked barbarian figure. Instantly mesmerized, I put away the Luke Skywalker figure and approached the child. Upon learning the name He-Man, I became instantly obsessed with the task of cajoling my mother into a toy hunt. My younger brother fell under the spell of my avid description of this figure I had seen. That weekend, on a mall visit, we walked into JC Penney’s with my mom and grandmother. Near the catalogue department were pegs filled with colorful toys. And then my eyes beheld Beast Man. Vibrant, orange, and menacing, he took my imagination to far off places instantly. My brother **** Skeletor, and the rest is history. The long exposition is necessary for this review, so bear with me. By 1987, when the first live action film released, let me say my love and appreciation for it now was far from there when as a 12 year old boy walking out disappointed in all that was not in the film. Yes, now I love this classic action sci-fi/fantasy adventure. But as a child, not so much. And now, we are in present day 2026. And after two viewings (and about third on the way Monday) of Masters of the Universe, I can say that not only do I have a new favorite movie, but a new favorite soundtrack as well. For me, this is much more than a film. This is a course correction of a fractured timeline where He-Man and Skeletor have the same cinematic allure as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. The actors are all incredible. We see the characters as they are, not the people playing them. He-Man is nuanced. Teela is pragmatic and determined. And Skeletor is a maniacal truth devouring villain. (Deliberately leaving names out so you focus on the content, and can enjoy those acting as your see this movie) This is a spoiler free review, so read ahead. I am a child of the total Gen X experience. And this is the movie I have wanted and longed for since the end of the last Star Wars prequel film in 2005. There is heart. So much heart. Humor. Thrills. Chills. An undercurrent of romance. And there is hope. Hope for someone who feels rejected to be accepted and find themselves. Hope for brighter futures. Hope for happier tomorrows. And there is sadness. Parental relationships; friend dynamics tested; villains seemingly triumphant when all of that hope feels lost. And more so, as a lifelong enthusiast of toy collecting and cartoon and comic observations, this is unequivocally the best adaptation of anything like it. There are many elements of creative freedom, fueled with undercurrents of nostalgia driving the beats and rhythms providing a pure joy filled escape. You don’t have to have ever read a comic or seen an episode of Masters of the Universe to understand this movie. For people like me, it’s a no brainer and we are unanimously loving it. But there is something for everyone on the screen. And then there’s Beast Man. In all his orange fur glory. And Trap Jaw. And Evil Lyn. And Teela. And Man At Arms. And so many more. We live in the age of YouTube and self stem toys. Children no longer play and use imagination. They hit buttons and click devices and somehow, toys lost their playfully power. I want more than anything to see kids be kids again. Can one movie do that? Yes. I believe so. In my many words here, if you leave with anything stirring in your soul, I hope it is the newfound desire to taste a little of what my offering has baked. Go see this movie. Let yourself laugh and feel excitement. And in this experience, you, too, will have the Power. For ETERNIA!

Born in ‘79 80s He-Man nerd here… Anybody who couldn’t enjoy this 2026 movie adaptation of the cartoon, I don’t know what to tell ya. I’m actually a little irritated by the supposed He-Man rubes that are **** on it. Actually, I’m glad everybody lowered my expectations, cuz I ended up loving it; the nods here & there and the way they fleshed out Prince Adam etc. was done well. The cast was great. Literally my only complaint was Trap-Jaw’s teeth. But more importantly, the movie was fun.

Your reaction will probably be: "Pretty good!" It's fun, flashy, and doesn't take itself too seriously. You'll get the He-Man smashing bad guys action you signed up for. And Jared Leto was actually fantastic voicing Skeletor. Really a standout performance in his career, and that includes if you hate him. Thankfully, it avoids the pitfall of spending the entire movie on earth and only giving Adam his powers for ten minutes at the end. THAT is what I feared. And they didn't go that route - PHEW! They also didn't make Teela his better and needing to school him all the time. So, hey! Two bullets dodged. Family note: they joke...a lot. And most of the jokes are innuendo for some reason. They'll probably go right over the kids' heads, but there you have it. Action violence, but not fear or blood. A bit of swearing, but no F-bombs. Altogether a pretty good movie. Fun. Forgettable.

Had an absolute blast with MotU! It's just fun. The story is what you'd expect; simplistic with not a lot of depth but it makes up for it with some great action sequences, awesome visuals, chuckles, a few really touching moments and overall great cast

Really enjoyed it. Best of all though is my 12 year old son and his friend, who both didn't know much about He-man universe, REALLY liked it. Skeletor stole the show for them. All the actors did a good job. The action was excellent. Eternia was well done. Overall it had a Guardians of the Galaxy / Marvel feel to it so if you enjoy that, you'll likely enjoy this.

Master of the Universe is, without exaggeration, one of the worst films I have ever seen.Everything about it feels misguided. The plot is a chaotic mess that never seems to know where it's going, jumping from one nonsensical scene to another without any logic, tension, or emotional payoff. The characters are bizarrely written, completely out of place, and often behave in ways that make absolutely no sense. Instead of heroic or compelling figures, they come across as clumsy, bloated caricatures stumbling through a script that appears to have been assembled at **** tone is equally disastrous. What should have been an epic fantasy adventure frequently devolves into an absurd slapstick comedy, filled with unintentionally hilarious moments that destroy any chance of taking the story seriously. The film never decides whether it wants to be a grand adventure, a parody, or a Saturday morning cartoon, and fails at all **** soundtrack somehow manages to make things even worse, with music cues that feel completely disconnected from what's happening on screen. Scenes that should be dramatic become ridiculous, while moments intended to be exciting are drained of any **** visual design, performances, pacing, and dialogue all contribute to a viewing experience that ranges from embarrassing to outright painful. By the end, I wasn't entertained, engaged, or even angry anymore. I was simply amazed that so many bad creative decisions had managed to coexist in a single movie.Frankly, it's unwatchable. A baffling, awkward, and deeply misguided production that serves as a reminder that having a famous franchise is no guarantee of quality.

Definitely a kids movie for sure, but I got some fun nostalgia out of seeing the characters for the 2nd time in live action (and loved the cameo). Fun, flashy, jokey with bad guys who are not just misunderstood, but totally irredeemable. I have missed those type of bad guys for sure. With names like Skeletor and Evil Lyn? Only one way to really portray those types of characters. I liked the stuff they did with He/Him and HR knowing what it was foreshadowing. Prince Adam/He Man kind of gave me dorky good guy Clark/Superman vibes by the end.
