I am giving it 96%. I've played the pc version in highest res and voodoo accelerator back in 97'. Haven't played this game since, didn't really touch sequels/prequels, only seen the film, which I didn't enjoy. I was 13 at the time and didn't understand English almost at all. Even so I enjoyed it a lot, loved the vibe and graphics, completed it twice but didn't had much idea about the story and was only able to kind of be guessing the plot. I've tried playing it again in 2010, psx discs, on ps2, but at the time there was so many new and amazing looking games coming out, that after looking at it for few minutes I thought it looks like trash and I've moved on. So, in other words, I loved the game as a kid, but it didn't leave almost any nostalgia in me for it. But now I'm replaying it on psx mini, and I got to say I wasn't expecting how well made this game is and how fast it would pull me in. It is an excellent game with excellent story, writing, pacing and gameplay, even designs behind the visuals. And visuals on psx are the worst out of all releases, but that speaks to the quality of this game. And lets not forget about the soundtrack, because it is in did fantastic. The Boss battle music gets me every time. This game has something that is very much missing nowadays from most of productions - it has strong atmosphere. It wasn't unique in that regard, but games, movies and music had it. Not anymore. Now I see that this entry in FF series got really diluted with many sequels and prequels that that came after, including tha movie, and in my opinion were made without understanding of what made og soo good ( probably due to lack of Mr. Sekiguchi ). And it makes me even more disappointed about the remakes that mess with og so much. It is a must play, after or before playing FF6.

Played og on 360 back in the day and got bored of it in 46h. Played Morrowind on pc for 6 months mind you. I thought I'd give the Oblivion a shot again, but unfortunately this game runs and looks on my most powerful rtx3070 laptop version with 12700h and 64gb ram, nvme 4x like ass on nearly lowest settings. That's outrageous. appx 25fps outdoors, indoors gets to maybe 40 - 50. Shame. For lower settings they could have made simpler meshes for trees and rocks. So if you on similar system I don't recommend.

Finally had a chance to play this gem. Wonderful game. Some criticism: Neatpicks: not always sure where to go and the geometry sometimes allows you to get in to places you should never be able to get to, as well as some minor camera positioning problems, and fps occasional drops, and some other glitches. More serious: Story doesn't fully make sense. Characters motives and background are hit and miss ( especially the villain ). Story twists can't be so illogical, they need foreshadowing, and characters to have background that after the reviles make sense. Too much fetch questing. Worldmap is somewhat convoluted, and minimaps could have tad more detail, at least names of places. Positives: Awesome charming graphics, atmosphere, animations, music, dialog with personality. so I RECOMEND!
I hope that in the sequel there will be more varied puzzles like in old-school point and click adventure games that require joining together elements and less fetch questing, that levels will be have more varied challenges, and story writing will improve.

Presentation ( audio - visual ) - 9 Looks and sounds great. / Writing and story - 5 Pretty generic and dull, and way too many cutscenes ( in fact in the beginning they were so frequent I almost stopped playing ). It does reference Kurosawa as inspiration but is no where near quality of his films. / Gameplay - 6 Combat is ok, movement is ok, but all feels bit chaotic and not that interesting. Movement feels bit hollow. Basic stealth. Camera is often bad when there are budlings near by. Game suffers from typical open world issues. / UI - 5 Menus are a chore to navigate. Map suffers from iconsfest.

Kenshi6

Some people love it, others not, many doesn't know it. The atmosphere and the vibe of the game is very cool, dystopian and immersive. Game is original and unique, rich in mechanics. But is also junky, but that's ok. That can irritate, but for just a short moment. However, to me the game lacks a bit more of something. I played it for the first time in June 2023, and spent probably a week or so with it, made a team, bult a base, researched stuff, bought many buildings, and ultimately got bored of it. Now, a year later in may 2024, I watched again some Kenshi vids and thought will give it a go again, but this time, I played it only for several hours before getting bored. I wish it would hold me for more time. And that is why I think game needs something more. Not necessarily a story, but rather a bunch of individual stories of npc's that are on their own missions, and by them joining your group their stories can became part of your story. This approach would allow to keep the "make your own story" aspect of the game, while simultaneously would enrich the world. Regardless, huge respect to the creator for sticking to his guns and actually making something original, unique, and charming in several way. I recommend this game to methodical or autistic people. Looking forward to Kenshi2.

Quake Remastered8
Sep 19, 2023
After completing Q2 enhanced, I've finally got to Q1 Remastered. Funny that 20 years ago I've played those games for the first time exactly in the same order. Now I had exactly same impressions: Q1 is a better game then Q2. Although graphically not as impressive, gameplay wise the design is much better, levels and rooms are much better designed and often much more interesting with great flow between them, enemies are not hidden all the time behind pillars or boxes to surprise you ( like 90% of the time in Q2) but roam the area or are just there, movement is faster and smoother, weapons hit harder, atmosphere is more intense. Between those two games it is clear that Romero was the necessary quality control at ID. After that ID started going in the direction I didn't like as much, and sometimes even less (Doom3, Q4).
As for the remaster, it's good. Didn't got to latest expansions yet.

Quake II - Enhanced Edition6
Aug 15, 2023
Q2 was first Quake I've ever played. I had a demo disc. At the time it was visually ground breaking game. I only had P133 with no accelerator card, so I run it in 360. But after the demo my mates and I started playing Q2 deathmatches at Internet Caffee's for over a year and a half ( and depending on the machine in 640 or 800! ), and that was best part of this game. BUT I can't tell you exactly when I've played full Q2 campaign for the first time - I think it was around the time I've got Voodoo 1 but I've got to a certain point and didn't complete it. Certainly I've completed it a decade later when I've got my hands on the full game disc at a second hand store. Regardless, that's the problem with this game's SP campaign: it's forgettable. Not only forgettable, but already few maps in it starts dragging. It felt exactly the same playing it all those years ago as I am feeling right now about it. It's hard to put finger on what it exactly is: is it a map layouts? Connected levels? Enemy placement? Environment design? Weak weapon impact? Maybe it is a combination of all of these elements. The level layout just doesn't stick, and everything feels samy. Enemies placement feels like a pattern. Got to say, first time I've played Q1 was after playing Q2, and although visually poorer, the level layouts are much more memorable, weapons feel stronger, enemies placement seams more thought-out, and in general Q1 feels like a much more precise design, even thought creating it was probably much more hectic. Although the soundtrack in this one still rocks socks off ( crank that volume knob up! ) The Enhancement looks really cool. Added new effects and lightening make it much more atmospheric, there are 2 og expansions plus brand new one, and N64 port, which is a very nice package and a job well done. But because the game itself just isn't that great I am giving it a fair score of 6. For anyone who never played it, it's worth getting it at current price to experience it and make up their own mind.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun7
Jun 7, 2023
Solid seven. The game has cool oniums atmosphere, fitting soundtrack for the most part, and well done presentation and intense action. Guns feel really good for the most part, especially the title boltgun. Gameplay is smooth and fairly precise. However, the level design could be more varied, as as it is, its very much a table top style map with mostly 90 deg angles and same repeating walls, which 1. gets a bit boring, and 2. It's easy to loose track of where to go next, with lack of map making it more tedious. On 16" screen it is also easy to not be able to see enemies from far. Finally the arenas aren't much fun - the best fun is when traversing the level and shooting things instead of running in circles in the arena not being able to tell what's going on. If levels layout would be more interesting, less repetitive, and arenas more focused, and with more layout variety I'd give higher score. In the end unfortunately I've got bored.

I've played original in 2007 or 08 and I really loved it. Haven't played it since then until now. The design holds up very well, the atmosphere is great, and the new visuals are very nice. Game feels like a grand adventure, in that much preferred dense way over copy/paste and padded open world games. However I have several small issues with it: 1. I had no idea I would miss projectiles illuminating the surrounding, but I do, and I've realise that it was big part of what made the original even more immersing, 2. I think there could be an option to toggle "looking slightly down" when jumping for dual stick controls, 3. Music could have been updated with richer sounding synths, and for those who'd prefere original music, there could be an option to toggle, 4. I still get lost every now and then even with hint, 5. I always liked the map, but It could have been tweaked to include more shades to easier differentiate between rooms, 6. it's a neat picking but original doors looked better. 7. 3 shots before being able to charge is an odd design choice. All in all, this game is a must play for everyone who likes to figure things out. And I can't wait for Prime4. It's been so so long since the announcement!

I was excited to try it out since it was announced, and finally got it via Game Pass, and I thought I'll like this game, but I didn't. Kudos to the solo dev for releasing it and in a good state: runs smoothly, has nice graphics, and good however bland sound. Unfortunately it has game design issues that make it not fun to play. Due to graphics the world doesn't give you right cues about possible paths. Sure there should be secret paths, but in general main paths should be easy to recognise. Next problem is the world layout feels chaotic, disorientating and doesn't flow. Finally controls and combat feels sluggish and isn't fun, and the stamina makes it even more tedious. A similar Zelda inspired game with way way better combat and design in general was HOB which I recommend over this one.

I'm quite far in the game, and decided I'll leave a short review already, because I don't think my impression of the game will change much. Game is ok. In some aspects it exceeds Automata, mainly with characters who are much more colourful and more entertaining then those in Automata. But in terms of fetch quests it is way way worse. Both games suffer from similar bad design issues thought, as fetch quest in Automata are also tedious and combat although smooth and flashy gets quickly repetitive. Later on in the game enemies just become damage sponges. But I think that's because of small worlds both games have, although both have nice vistas to look at. I recon that if the worlds would be bigger and more intricate, combat would be good enough. Story is not bad and better then in Automata. Music is again fantastic and drives the playthrough. But just like with Automata where I only completed Route A and didn't want to play more, here I'm not even sure if I will complete the game. I probably will, but at least half of the game is a slog. I had much more fun with Trials of Mana remake. That one, although much more simple in its design, is way more entertaining. Still, I recommend this one at a discounted price.

I really loved the original game ( emulated with fan translation ), and this is a dream come true for me. While playing I was feeling that this game was made for me, someone who played and completed all main action adventure games on snes, and many other action adventure games on pc and consoles. Graphics is not amazing, but feels like the original game in 3d which is fine by me. Music got updated arrangements and is just as lovely as it was on snes. Combat is same or similar to snes original, simple but involving. Much more fun then many modern takes on the formula.

It is a decent game (goty edition). In terms of gameplay and story it's a mix of old school snes action adventure jrpg's with new more open style design. It has its exciting moments but ultimately it doesn't reach hights it is set out to deliver. At least half of the game feels like a slog, but even so, there was enough fun gameplay in it to reach end of route A, but not enough to continue with other characters. Story style is like other anime; But want point out that anime is heavily influenced by classic Italian Cinema ( movies like warriors of the wasteland 2020) and classic Italian Opera. And that's what it is. Soundtrack is on the other hand stellar. Can hear many composition style influences, from Polish and Bulgarian, to German. And it drives the game. I've listened to this soundtrack more then I've played. All in all it's worth getting at a discount. I'm waiting for the third game and meanwhile maybe I'll check out Replicant.

For most of the time it captures the spirit of previous games, with fun story and silly puzzles, cool presentation and great sound. Metroid Dread4
Oct 16, 2021
Dreadful Metroid Game Over First time I've played Super Metroid was in 2007 after a recommendation from one of my clients. At that point I've been gaming for nearly 20 years. Fell in love with the game and played it again immediately after completing it. Since then I've played them all(including the fan game)and some of them more than once. And I've got to say I am more disappointed with this one then I was with OtherM. With OM I really disliked the story and how they've approached it, but gameplay wise it was a pretty good game - maps were pretty good and logically connected, which is a trope of this series, music was decent, combat fine, thought exploration suffered somewhat due to move to that style of 3d **** good game. Obviously I was super exited to play Dread. I thought that Samus Returns was pretty good, even thought I wasn't super convinced to counter attack and free aim in that one, the team behind it showed premise. How I was wrong! Playing dread made me realise that what was good about the M2 remake, was the original aspects of the design brought in to much improved visuals and controls, not new additions. Those additions are pushed even more to front in Dread. In Dread I'm nearly the end, and I just stopped and can't force myself to play it any more. Its level layouts are abysmal. It becomes more and more disjointed the further you get. With old games there was some logic to them but here they feel very random and it's very easy to confuse them. They lack character and vibe with exception of couple of areas, which still are lacking but not as **** is clareted and not clear. Lack of tunes is one of the **** Metroid it used to be a mixture of funky electronic and quazi-film **** of the new music is just bland and boring, lack tunes and actually I hate it. When it comes to progression it is also really bad. After the initial linear introduction to the game, game opens up the area a little bit, but quickly goes back to completely linear progression.Once I've realised that it doesn't matter if I want to go somewhere I've just got power up for, or just stack up on missiles or tanks I've seen on the way and have power to get, I stopped even thinking about the layout and was just following the path like a robot, completely detached, because the game gives you pretty much only one path to **** that regard it is only tiny bit more open then Fusion. Other aspects of the design also **** killer robots are boring, and they don't fit visually in world of the game. They are just annoying. I did quickly learned how to avoid them, however that whole part of the game could be cut out and game would be better off without it. It really feels like it was pushed on the devs by the PR Marketing overlords(to have something new in Metroid that could be talked **** if PR Marketing overlords would be any good at game dev, they wouldn't be working PR Salesman, wouldn't they? This took over all entertainment and it is killing it and has to end. Controls are smooth, but again free aim is iffy, and overall the amount of buttons you got to use simultaneously to do an action is ridiculous. Using 2 buttons and an analog stick is enough complexity for normal human being, but here often you got to hold 2 triggers, use two sticks and press a button at the same time making it a chore for humans.Human octopuses will do fine thought. And yet, to they aren't responsive all the time, sometimes triggering a different move. With free aim you actually hit half of the time. Bosses suppose to be difficult, and they are, but not in any good way.Metroid games didn't really had very good bosses for the most part, outside of their visual appeal and inventiveness, they were often annoying more than anything. But they weren't killing you with couple of hits, and you could learn their patterns more easily. Here they are overdone, requiring you to not only be a human octopus but also a formula 1 driver.Bosses are also annoying and reused to the point of pain. As for the story, I'm not interested in stories in games in general. However, I didn't like the X parasite in Fusion and I don't like it here. Game is called Metroid, not X.Other aspects of the story aren't even worth mentioning. Graphically it's ok. I've increased contrast and saturation of my tv and it looks ok. Wrapping this up-Metroid Dread is a frankenstein of many concepts and ideas, put together in to a blender, resulting in very bland game that has no identity and no flare. It actually looks and plays much like Strider remake(which I really liked and was a much better game); it has bosses and some enemies insta killing you like Dark Souls, and overall game is copying its aspects a **** I don't like Dark Souls. I wanted to play Metroid. But instead I've got a mental hospital patient, made by teens with (probably) decent budget who do not understand that Metroid was about forward momentum, exploration and atmospher.

It's ok. There's planty of fun to be had. I'd still recommend you to buy it even full price. But I want to see a sequel that expands on the ideas and corrects amateurish mistakes that's plenty. I believe that this one allowed the devs to learn their craft, and I do believe that with money they will make, they can invest in to the sequel, and it is going to be very good. Anyone can see how much potential there is! I like the protagonist and I think she should be even more edgy. Playing it in software renderer and not having openGl issues. Pros: -Cool 80's-90's anime art style -Weapons feel pretty good, some better than others -Tracker music -Parts of levels are well designed and are interesting Cons -Ai has a lot of problems -Enemy hit scan is relentlessly accurate -Too dark to see far away enemies, yet to much color in the visible area makes enemies that are closer hard to differentiate from the environment. -Sometimes it can take many seconds before you can realize where the enemies are shooting from. -Soundtrack doesn't fit the game and doesn't pull me in to the action, with exception of 3 tracks one of which track that was featured in last years demo which is really really cool. -Level design is chaotic and often boring. Open areas are cool but game lacks a lot of the ribbon level design loved by fans of old school fps including myself. It does get better later on but... - ... then the ammo problem starts and game really begins to slog. with... - ... more and more new types of annoying enemies. - There shouldn't be a need to switch between guns and mele. Just make it work like the all mighty foot!

The game is ok. There are some very clever ideas followed by some terribly confusing ones. That's fine in the beginning, but later on navigating locations becomes absolute chore. Memorizing the map is pretty much impossible, so whenever you're using the map to teleport, you spend very long time hovering over rooms, to see which room is where. I guess that's the part of the challenge, and definitely good thing for speedrunners. But for me it was too much. Sound design is really cool. But the minimalistic art style becomes very tedious after a while. I don't know why is that exactly, I think later on there is much more detail in rooms, and I was getting bit dizzy. Overall, the experience get's really tiresome with time. But it is a very unique game, and it's definitely worth experiencing.

Hmm. It's late, and I'm going to rant a bit. Seams to me that devs who brought us groundbreaking Riddick game have run out of steam. This game is a mixed bag. Gunplay is decent and lies somewhere between of half life and rage. Setting is also cool. The overall game is similar in it's structure to hl. Story is really bad, although voice acting is very good. I started to skipping cutscenes after a while cause the plot just doesn't deliver and drags on. Game like this don't need story. All that budget could go towards making the gameplay better. Campaign super boring and disjointed, although there are some exciting setpieces in it. But I would trade those for great level design. levels feel very small ( the amount of rooms you visit, not small as not free roaming like crysis), and I really don't like the linear approach. Seriously, walking from arena to arena is super boring. It was cool when they did that in Painkiller, and painkiller build its gameplay around that with hundreds of enemies, but now it's just redundant. Levels need some variety in its structure. I still don't understand why games have left maze levels behind. Those were like little worlds. No amount of shooting will replace that. And interiors need to be spacier so it is easier to know where is what, because they are so full of detail that it is hard to see anything. Ai is pretty crap. Not sure why they didn't use rage ai. That one was solid. Most of the time I'd be just camping in one spot, taking down enemies one by one. And if you try to run and gun, enemies will take you down pretty quickly. Slide movement is cool, although it is awkward to execute on the kb. But no shooting and reloading while running is really getting on my nerves these days. Also the loot - way too much of it. But that's because enemies accuracy is almost 100%, so you will always get shoot, and soo there's need to be a lot of pick ups. Again, missing that old school "visible projectiles" you could avoid. It felt like you actually gaining skill, and there was no need for so many pick ups. I can't imagine who's idea it was that you need to press a key for each item. Absolutely tedious in every game. Why not just automatically pick up everything you touch? That would make sense. There is a perk system also, but I'm completely uninterested in it at this point. Music is pretty much none existent. The most fun I had in this game was first level after the intro sequence, and the Easter egg: the original wolfenstein level. I'm very sorry to say that because Riddick is one of the best games ever made, and I highly respect the devs, but I would give this game a miss, maybe until sale.

Good game. Not exactly oldschool thought. .Mayhem is good, graphic is nice. I'm missing more elaborate level design although it does gets better with every stage. Other complain would be the movement speed. It could be just bit faster. Also I just can't get used to stamina. Can we bring back sprinting from the old days? Weapons could be more powerful with exception of katana which is powerful enough. But I prefer shooting then melee personally. Story and jokes are bad. But as I said in the beginning, the game is good because the gameplay holds it all together. Well worth money and time.

I'm playing it right now on pc. Will get straight to the point: story could be interesting but the way its done it is just total boredom. Graphics is ok ( im playing on ultra settings ) but nothing to rave about. Levels are not very well designed and get boring really quickly - loads of gray corridors and a lot of copy/paste work. There is way too much platforming. Controls are convoluted and confusing, and camera somehow always sets itself in bad angle ( almost as bad as dmc2 but still worst then dmc4 which i was playing just before new one came out ). Lack of lock on is more problematic then it seamed from the reviews. Most of the time I'm "fighting" with those issues instead the enemies. Combat gets boring quickly with only about handful of combos, especially when spamming best moves does job quickly ( and if you want rank SSS, you just do different attacks for a moment until you get to SSS and then spam till last enemy fells ). Also when enemies are highlighted in yellow they are invincible and a lot of times they attack when they are in that mode just as you falling after jumping, and if you already used dodge in air once or you didn't even see those enemies on the screen, you F'ed, As for where I'm in the game there is one type which you have too pull, but there is no indication which chain you need to use at particular moment. Overall this game is a step down from Alice: Madness Returns ... Surprise! Yes, this game is almost like a carbon copy of Alice sequel, rather then being dmc game. Alice was a good game despite it flaws, but I I don't want dmc to be like that - I want dmc to be over the top - high octane action, with elegant controls and imaginative combat, and some puzzles/exploration cherry on top. And new dmc is not that. I would enjoy it ok if it would be a new franchise even thought it is mediocre at best, but because it's labeled as DMC it deserves all fans backslash it has got.

DmC: Devil May Cry4

Consoles get 4/10 because of 30fps
