The rhythmic machinery of a monstrous rebellion: A 4.0-star sensational surge of raw, high-tension paternal grit.2013(4.0)I watched Hotel Transylvania (2012) in 2013, and it remains a vivid 4.0-star pillar of shwi-shwi monstrous brilliance in my archive—a raw revelation of how a sensational pairing of classic monsters can dismantle the stagnant, "scary" expectations of the genre. This experience **** the fourth wall of the supernatural comedy by infusing Dracula’s raw, overprotective precision and Mavis’s sensational, bbo-jjak rebellious wit into a narrative rhythm that felt 100% sophisticated and chewy. The narrative rhythm was far from stagnant; instead, it offered a sensational acting power show where the raw, high-tension dynamic of "monster-only sanctuary" and the hororong arrival of a human backpacker left me in a state of absolute joy at its visceral soul. Seeing the vivid, fast-paced animation and the raw, high-tension "Zing" connection provided an emotional payoff that felt both authentic and sensational, proving that a story about "letting go of one's child" could be a vivid artifact of pure cinematic fun. The 95% preservation of my memory is dominated by the rhythmic, raw beauty of the diverse monster designs and the vivid but pathetic fear of humans, creating a permanent, sensational scar of high-tension wonder on my soul. Unlike the stagnant 1.0-star drift of Ice Age: Continental Drift, this encounter possessed a rebellious soul that turned a pathetic spooky trope into a sensational masterpiece of charm. It stands in my 2013 record as a powerful 4.0-star testament to the raw power of Sony Pictures Animation’s vision—a high-tension encounter with the vivid rhythm of the Transylvanian party that remains one of the most chewy artifacts of my cinematic journey.

Animation 10/10, Adam sandler comedy 3/10 and the annoying mindless potty jokes are another chore to listen to. This could have been a home run With the right director and less sandler stupidity jokes. Ithad parts of comedy highs but it wreaks out cringy mediocre brainless humor that only sandler and his cult would find amusing. Lower the bar low enough and you’ll get into this movie which is too bad because itcould of been a hugefamily hit

Such a wholesome movie. I love a good father-daughter dynamic in a movie, and Hotel Transylvania has got that!

The idea of a human stumbling into Dracula's castle is the best part of this movie. Everything else ****. The jokes are potty humor, and most of the characters are two-dimensional. Dracula and Mavis are cool characters, but Johnny is just annoying. Unfortunately this is one of those kids movies that seems to exclusively appeal to kids, which is disappointing because the idea behind this movie is so cool.

This movie is really underrated. I think everything about this movie is good. Humor of this movie is amazing, the sketches are good. the animation is really cool. the characters written really good and they all get their own roles. the conflict between mavis that wants to see the world and drakula that thinks that the world is bad is making the movie amazing. I think it one of the movies that should the movie that not legendary but at least everyone have to watch it!

Not much to say. Animation isn't terrible, but the movie is just...boring. Plus why you gotta end it on a rap battle bruh

I thoroughly enjoyed Hotel Transylvania 1! The movie is filled with colorful and imaginative characters, hilarious jokes, and heartwarming moments. The voice acting is top-notch, with Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, and Andy Samberg bringing their A-game to the table. The animation is also incredibly well-done, with vivid colors and smooth movements that are sure to captivate viewers. What I love most about this movie is its unique take on classic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Mummy. Instead of being scary, they're lovable and relatable characters that you can't help but root for. The story is also engaging and keeps you entertained from start to finish. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Transylvania 1 for anyone looking for a fun and entertaining family movie. Whether you're a kid or an adult, there's something in this movie for everyone. So grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the ride!

After reading reviews that either disliked or were indifferent to Hotel Transylvania and being dubious because Adam Sandler(who has been in a lot of really bad movies recently) was in the lead role, I was unsure of whether to see the film. But my love for animation and the appetising trailer over-rode my doubts and I saw it anyway. And you know what, while The Pirates and ParaNorman were better animated movies from this year in my opinion I found Hotel Transylvania much better than expected. More could have been done with the relationship between Jonathan and Mavis, it is a romantic angle that has been used many times before and as well as feeling somewhat under-baked very little new was done with it. While a vast majority of the film is fast-paced with no real dull spots, some parts of the film did feel rushed. On the other point of view, the animation is excellent, the backgrounds are both beautiful and Gothic and that is the same with the colours. The characters are well-modelled. The soundtrack is catchy and upbeat, though some of the songs could have been more than just snippets. The writing is zany and often witty with a surprising amount of heart also. The story is predictable, but not dull. It has a number of great moments, the genre references are not as inspired as they were in ParaNorman but they are fun to spot, and I loved a lot of the slapstick-in-style gags. Especially the zombie Beethoven, the scream cheese Hors-D'Oeuvres, the shrunken heads do not disturb tags and the digs at Twilight(much more fulfilling than any of the movies combined). But it does have a lot of heart. Is the over-protective father idea clichéd? Of course. But I did find it genuinely touching instead of overly-exaggerated as I have seen described. Dracula's past is also shown in a darkly emotional way. The characters are not the most memorable I have ever seen, but they do have their likability, my favourite here was Dracula. And the voice acting was surprisingly great, to me from a non-fan who has liked him in some movies(Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, Spanglish and Happy Gilmore) and hated him in others(Jack and Jill, Going Overboard, Zookeeper and Mr Deeds) Adam Sandler gives one of his better performances of late in the role of Dracula, he is actually funny as well as emotive in alternative to irritating. Selena Gomez is endearing as daughter Mavis and Adam Samberg brings some heroism to Jonathan. Kevin James, David Spade, Jon Lovitz, Fran Drescher and especially Steve Buscemi give solid support. In conclusion, surprisingly good. 8/10 Bethany Cox

This movie was coming on the TV, so I was watching it with my mom. There were many scenes from this movie that were so cringy I felt like my mom would get furious (I will talk about them later). She didn't say anything, but I was feeling so ashamed I was trying to hide my face. Hotel Transylvania is one of those movies that are fun to watch while they last, but the moment they are over you will have nothing to remember them for. It's a generic comedy movie, similar to Minions, except this is not a cultural phenomenon. And that's not a bad thing.
The story of this movie is pretty straightforward. Dracula's daughter has her 116th birthday so he has arranged a party for her with all the other monsters. However, a human has also sneaked into the party disguised as a monster and let me tell you, he's really, really disgusting and insensitive. And of course Dracula's daughter and he fall in love with each other because they are teenagers and that's literally what teenagers always do. So now Dracula is very angry because his family has been hiding from humans. So finally when he drives that human away his daughter gets all moody, and he's forced to get him back.
There are many good things about this movie. The animation is pretty good. The comedy scenes also made me laugh, even though most of them aren't really clever jokes their references to the monsters and the comic timing make up for it. The storytelling is also not generic at all, but rather it is more focused on showing the good parts over the otherwise usual, boring "character conflicts" and plot twists. I really liked Dracula in this movie. The human was also very relatable.
The bad things, however, are also pretty overwhelming. First of all, like I said, it's very forgettable. You must have figured out by now that I have already forgotten the names of all the characters other than Dracula because he is a cultural phenomenon (not because of this movie of course). That's why I have been calling the characters "the human" and "Dracula's daughter" since I don't even remember what their names were. Secondly like I said, there was too much cringe. The parts where Dracula's daughter says that she will give up on her father, someone she has been with for over a hundred years, for a snobby teenage tourist she met a couple of minutes ago even though she can't possibly be with him. And Dracula actually decided to help her, instead of slapping her and getting her on the right path. My mom is strictly for arranged marriages, so seeing those scenes with her made me feel she will say this is propaganda. Thank Satan she didn't say it.
For me Hotel Transylvania is in the same leagues as Stuart Little and Jurassic Park. Yes it was fun and I liked it and all, but I don't have the courage to either rewatch it or see the sequels. It's too tiring to watch, so I guess I won't ever talk about it after having written this review.

An example that monsters also need to rest at ease, not to say in peace. It will not be a watershed of animation but in its favor it has quite a few funny moments and, by comparison, it is more bearable than Despicable me. For those afternoons that one has to babysit, without further pretense.

The best animated movie that came out from Sony Pictures. It feels fresh, has great characters and started a successful franchise. It uses the classical (movie) monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, the invisible man, the werewolf and lots of others. There is however a twist as it is no horror movie but a comedy and the humor works well. The premise is that it is the monster that are afraid of the humans and hide (They are nice people and neither evil, cruel or bloodthirsty). This is not surprising as they get always hunted by a human mob with pitchforks and torches. As sidenote neither of the classic monsters from the old movies even slightly compares to the human monsters of history. Back to the review. Before the events in 1895 Dracula losses his wife Martha to an angry mob of humans (With the name Martha I must now resist a lame Batman vs Superman joke;-). He vows to create a sanctuary for monsters and a safe place to raise their daughter Mavis. So he created the Hotel Transylvania which is quite luxurious and becomes a safe haven for the monsters. For the set up: Switch to our time and Mavis 118th birthday (= Reaching adulthood for vampires). She wants to explore and visit the outside world she only know from stories. Dracula fearing for her safety sets up an elaborate plan to scare heraway from this immediately and succeeds as she returns home (He is not evil here as he deeply cares for his daughter and the dead of his wife is a wound that never healed). However it backfires as this lead Jonathan Loughren a backpacking traveler and 100% human to the Hotel where he checks in. With this the humorous story starts. We enjoyed the story so much as it has the correct balance between humor and seriousness (= Both parts do not harm the other). I will freely admit that it uses a lot of tropes but these are done excellent. It also added some new things and overall it feels fresh. For the characters: I like how they used the classic characters and gave them their unique interpretations. While you know them each one is unique and not just a copy of the established formula. The cast of the voice actors is really good. We have Adam Sandler as Dracula and I know what many think: “Adam Sandler is not funny or good anymore for many years”. Here however he works well and I praise his performance even if I in total agree with the statement. For Mavis we have Selena Gomez and again a fitting choice as she won me over and I am not even a fan of her. Johnathan is voiced by Andy Samberg and is the yin to yang of Dracula and Mavis. For the rest we have also a strong cast with Kevin James as Frankenstein’s monster, Fran Drescher as his wife, David Spade as invisible man, Steve Buscemi as werewolf (Has he a name he was called for in the movie?) and Molly Shannon as his wife. A great cast and all voice actors deliver. I must also praise the director Genndy Tartakovsky who is a legend in the animated industry. For many he is the only strong asset Sony has for animated movies (Would agree to this statement). Because it is an animated movie we have of cause to talk about the animations. They have their own art style and it looks great and convenient. All characters look and act in a way that creates immersion. For the humor me and my friends were really entertained. There are many good scenes and some jabs at the classics. The conclusion is great and satisfying. Overall this might not be the best animated movie but it is still excellent and an easy recommendation. It has a memorable cast and is so enjoyable that it will not be forgotten.

Hotel Transylvania at its core is a animated movie who thinks its a cartoon and tries so hard to be a cartoon that it falls flat on its face. I didn't find this film funny at all. The animation tries so hard to be cartoony that it almost feels hard to look at, the characters are all one-dimensional with no traits to make them interesting. The best thing I can say about it its that SONY PICTURES ANIMATION Made worst films but then you can make anything look good compared to these atrocities: Norm of the north, The Emoji Movie, Cars 2, Foodfight, ect.

This film is one of the best that Sony Pictures Animation has made, finally putting it at the level of Disney, Pixar or Dreamworks. These four giants of animated films have been fighting for a long time. Sony has so far been the most discreet and least successful competitor, however, with this film and the ensuing franchise, the studio has finally managed to show its worth. The script is simple: after losing his wife in a confrontation with violent humans, the secular Count Dracula hides, with his daughter Mavis, in an isolated castle, protected from the humans eyes. To make it profitable, it turns it into a large hotel specially designed to welcome other monsters and creatures that want distance from people. But, as the centuries go by, Mavis has grown up and wants to finally see the world beyond the immense dark forest that surrounds the castle. And that is what Dracula is most afraid of, as he regards human beings as highly dangerous. The film was perfectly capable of humanizing and giving a funny touch to the monsters that we get used to seeing in horror films. Dracula, the Mummy, the Werewolf, Quasimodo, the Invisible Man, Frankenstein's monster, Bigfoot... they're all here, and all of them much more human and lovable than they could be in another kind of film. The plot rests on the father-daughter relationship, on the way a father tries to protect his daughter until eventually she feels suffocated and revolts against it. The most comical scenes are reserved for the Count, especially when he plays with Jonathan, the human teenager who, against all odds, finds the castle and decides to explore it. The dialogues are excellent and the humour is everywhere. The direction is ensured by Genndy Tartakovsky, who previously collaborated with Cartoon Network Chanel, where he was responsible for some of their most iconic animated shows. It is, therefore, an interesting bet that worked very well. The voice actors cast is large and very good, with the veteran Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez at the head. Everyone did their job very well and fit the characters perfectly. I found Sandler's effort to make his voice more Romanian especially interesting, although it might not be necessary. Technically, the film is based on computer animation and CGI, whose quality seemed somewhat irregular but generally good. Unlike the films from other studios, music and songs are far from being the strong point here... in fact, it was one of the weakest bets in this film, with forgettable songs that seem to be there only because they have to be there, without being able to add quality and joy to the film. The ending, where music plays a predominant role, ends up a little blurred because of that.

Great start to a great franchise! While it's not perfect, it definitely has a lot of heart and energy, and that's expected from Genndy Tartakovsky.

Hotel Transylvania is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the director of some of my favorite TV-animation-series, written by Peter Baynham and Robert Smigel and voices by Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez and Andy Samberg. The story is presented by Todd Durham, Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman and it's about Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Adam Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of the world's most famous monsters--Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more--to celebrate his daughter Mavis's 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem--but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis. Alright, alright, the first time I watched this movie, it was the night premiere of this movie, and I was 10 years old and I remember that this movie blew me away, it very impressed of how funny and colorful it was, and how value it was.. and now, as I'm 17, I decided to go and to see this movie again, just to know how I'll react while watching it as a movie reviewer, and if it will fit me as an american teenager or not, and it surprised me more than I expected it might be! Let's start with the story, and here's the question I ask anyone is reading this review: Does every single movie have to be deep or with a very powerful story that it could be hard for kids to digest? I'll answer this question with a "NO!". It's a movie for kids, the story is very simple, and yeah, it was predictable for adults and teenagers, but still really funny. HT's story might be childish, but still has a hidden value for the older audiences. Let's move to the voices, which I loved every-single-one of them, and I think that no one was going to be more fitting than them. Adam Sandler as Dracula was totally fun to hear, just like Selena Gomez as Mavis which is my favorite voice-performance in the whole movie, it was really ear-comforting to me, and with Andy Samberg as Jonathan as well, with lots of other amazing voice-roles, like Kevin James as Frankenstein and Steve Buscemi as Wayne. And now let's talk about the animation, which I found some problems with: it was somehow dark, and not really that eye-comfort. And this is my first issue with this movie, the second one is something I noticed, when Drac and Johnny were organizing the table, I noticed two little drops. First, when Drac was calling the tables, he said one number and before he even moves to the second or the third, I saw three tables flying behind him, it was like that they know that he will call them. Secondly, when Drac fell of his table, he screamed like he can't fly. And now the scrip (or the sense of humor).. I left the best to the end! the whole movie was well-written and hilarious. There wasn't that much of rude humor, but still it was really funny, I enjoyed it very very much! Last thing last, is the last issue I found, and it was the scene when monsters went to the city, not the whole scene, it's just how a human said "Yeah, and we love you" when Frankenstein said that they're the real monsters. I didn't find this one necessary. Okay, Hotel Transylvania's story is for kids, but you will find a hidden gem as an adult (and it is racism). The sense of humor is very funny and effective with such an amazing voices! So, I'm gonna give it an A. Okay, guys, thank you as always for reading my review, let me know if you like my reviews or not, and I welcome all the comments.

Recomendada.

Hotel Transylvania started out really well. It was hilarious, had a great story, and took a very enjoyable twist on the way monsters are portrayed. Unfortunately, this movie fell apart around the Hotel-thirds mark. What once was outrageously funny turned into something that left me wondering why the direction the movie took was really necessary/could have been easily avoided. I loved most of the movie, and the other bit, while not quite as good, was still enjoyable.

When monsters want to get away from it all, they go to Count Dracula's (Adam Sandler) Hotel Transylvania, a lavish resort where they can be themselves without humans around to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula invites creatures like the Invisible Man, the Mummy and others to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). However, an unforeseen complication unfolds when an ordinary human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with Mavis. Hotel Transylvania's buoyant, giddy tone may please children, but it might be a little too loud and thinly-scripted for older audiences. But, still a very enjoyable animated comedy. I'll give Hotel Transylvania a B+.

Hotel Transylvania is a good popcorn film that takes a dark turn. I think it's really reckless how Drac treats Mavis for making a choice in love. I honestly can't defend its flaws. It's jokes are the only thing that can sometimes deflect them. Overall the movie was not good or bad it was just mean spirited fun.

2012 was the year we got three animated Halloween movies: ParaNorman, Frankenweenie, and this film. This one is possibly in the middle of the three. Where Hotel Transylvania fails is as a movie. It's just your typical "father doesn't want his daughter to see this guy she has a crush on" with a monster theme. It's generic and boring, but what makes it so enjoyable? It may fail as a romance story, but where it really succeeds is as a comedy. The jokes are hysterical, the zany cartoon animation compliments the kid friendly style, and the idea of a hotel for monsters sounds really unique. But, as I said, it does have its flaws. The story is really clumsy, some jokes can be hit and miss, and Johnny can really get under my skin. Even if it's not one of the best animated movies out there, it certainly is Adam Sandler's funniest film in a long time.

Wherefore your stupid and average Adam Sandler movies are as dumb and unfunny, movies like this one treat Adam Sandler as a personal buddy for his better roles. It's so sad to see that he's actually better in voicing animated movies for children and adults than portraying as some sort of dumb character in his actual movies.

Hotel Transylvania is the sort of stuff that Adam Sandler should be doing. The characters in this film are memorable and children will likely get a kick out of it. There is not that much humour for adults unfortunately but it knows its audience. This film seems to resemble Pixar films with its humour but it doesn't have the strong script and enough depth to be considered a classic animated film.

Absolutely lovely movie. Didn't deserve all the mixed reviews. Creative, entertaining, and hilarious, this animated film is one of the very best this year. This is probably the worst animated film i've ever seen. The animation itself is extremely plastic and generic looking, The writing is unclever and stupid. Some jokes hit, but most just the target completely. The sequel does not look any better.

It's not the greatest comedy ever made, but it is very enjoyable, Adam sanders not half bad as Dracula, and it is has plenty of funny jokes as well as a prejudice that is completely justified, despite his actions. Unlike buck cluck where he just acted like a **** just because he was embarrassed by his son.

So overall I enjoyed the film. I will admit that the writing is pretty lazy and the film is kind of babiesh but this is not a bad kid’s film. It is bright and colorful, has likeable characters, and some great humor. The film has some clichés but there is nothing terrible in here. If I had kids I would not mind showing this film at all. Enough of the humor works in this movie and is not dumb humor so adults will get through it ok. In short if you have kids and you want something bright, colorful, and funny to show them show them this. Hotel Transylvania is definitely the most upbeat of the three Halloween movies of 2012 but it is also the weakest because it is mainly for kids whereas the others were darker and had some more adult moments. However as kid’s films go its ok. If you are a little kid you’ll probably enjoy this one but if you are going into this movie expecting something at the same level as Dexter’s Laboratory or Samurai Jack you’ll probably be disappointed because this film is not even close to being on the same level it’s just a little kids films with enough laughs to make it watchable.
