If the final season of Breaking Bad were an earthquake, this would be its aftershock. Not just because it follows chronologically, or because it's a less violent, traumatic event (though both are true), but because it's so essentially connected. El Camino regularly calls back to events from the original series, revisiting characters and scenes through a smoothly-related series of flashbacks and memories. Like a serpent winding over the sand, writer/director Vince Gilligan delicately slithers through old scenery, adds a new layer of context, then immediately relates it to the present. It's a more elegant solution to the same problem HBO's Deadwood movie addressed earlier in 2019: how do we remind viewers of an important scene when it may have been a decade (or more) since they last watched it? HBO went at it with a hammer, slamming old footage abruptly into the mix, while Gilligan works with a scalpel, remembering and elaborating in the same breath. Fans of the series will, no doubt, relish the chance to re-visit this territory; to occupy the same space, gain fresh perspective and discover a new sense of closure. It moves like a TV program in film's clothing. Expansive and deliberate, patient enough to chase those dangling threads, even if they divert from the greater narrative. Which, in this instance, works because that main storyline is rather simple. The details of Jesse's fate are a loose end, sure, left hanging when the series ended six years ago, but not a very long one. As was often the case with the series, El Camino is all about rich character moments, fabulous cinematography and powerful acting. Aaron Paul is the film's constant, digging deep to deliver an impressive, nuanced performance that merits the extra screen time. He's joined by several strong supporting players - a few regulars from the show's prime and just as many bit players with newly-expanded roles - but those appearances always flicker and fade. This is Paul's show, and he brings the goods.

Aaron Paul is in full command, and at times expertly plays two very different versions of this character. This feels like a too-long episode of Breaking Bad, but is a welcome reunion with those characters and universe. The stand-off at the end was intense and suspenseful.

Unnecessarily long and pretty boring for the most part, it's inoffensive and doesn't ruin Breaking Bad at all, just a forgettable epilogue that doesn't add anything of value.

I expected more from this film. In addition to finding it a somewhat unnecessary addition to the Breaking Bad universe, I think this film is very shallow, it could have had a better and more well-crafted script. It's interesting to see what happens to the characters, but as I said, quite shallow, not to mention the lack of preparation of certain actors to reinterpret their past roles.

Things that are curious are not explained, there are too many question marks, that is, while so many continuation things can be done in the Breaking Bad universe, they did not pay much attention to what we wanted.

Great movie, it felt like a 2-hour episode of Breaking Bad. I'm gonna binge Better Caul Sall now.

seeing how jesse changed over time was beautiful to me. Jesse in his final form is '' the one who knocks''.

so many bad reviews for this movie but i think it does the job, i just appreciate they showed us what happen to Jesse after the event happened in Breaking Bad series and i didn't know how badly i miss that show and its unique style and characters. in this movie, you will see a lot of flashbacks that weren't in the original series to give you a better understanding of what's about to happen especially with that lunatic Todd (the scene where he was driving to the desert and singing that song was brilliant). needless to say, if you enjoy Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul you must watch this movie its short, and its actually good,

The movie was decent but not outstanding. Given the nature of Breaking Bad and even better Call Saul, it just seemed like a very long episode with little action. It felt slow and uninteresting. By displaying flashbacks of earlier characters, it attempted to appeal to the fans, but it didn't follow the format of a typical Breaking Bad episode.

A fantastic follow up to one of if not the greatest show of all time that finally gives Jesse the ending he deserves.

El Camino is kinda pointless. The viewer could have assumed better things awaited Jesse after Breaking Bad. It's mediocre. It's like a bonus episode to Breaking Bad that no one really asked for. It's fine.

It's fine I suppose, if a little unnecessary. "Breaking Bad" as a series wasn't really in need of an epilogue, but I can't say I'm particularly offended by the existence of this film. It is nice to get some closure regarding Jessie and his friends, and all the acting and cinematography was for the most part quite good. There are certainly many enjoyable aspects to this movie, but I'd be lying if I said that it compels me to rewatch in the same way "Breaking Bad" does. - Best Performance: Aaron Paul

El Camino, while not adding much to the Breaking Bad series, is a great sort of closure over what happens to Jesse after the conclusion of the show. While it may have taken a while to come to a conclusion without much of a climax, I still enjoyed it a great deal with the characters who were shown.

I finished BB in less than two weeks and eagerly went on to watch El Camino, wanting to find out what happened to Jesse and stay in brilliant BB universe a little longer. For the first 15 minutes I was hooked but as the movie went on I found the pacing too slow and the events kind of meaningless. It didn't make sense for Jesse to steal from his parents instead of at least saying a final goodbye. Also, Todd was very insufferable in the last season and had no personality whatsoever and his presence only worsened the film. I would've liked to see some of the more likeable characters that were still alive, not only Jesse's friends. What I liked is the acting and the ending, with appearance of Christen Ritter. This would've been better as a lost episode, not a film.

Breaking Bad was a great show, so I thought I'd check out the movie since I've already seen Better Call Saul. I was satisfied. The story revolves around Jessie and specifically around season 5. The plot is good, although at one point I'd say it got pretty drawn out. There were also some flashbacks which were fine. For me, a good movie that I recommend to those who have seen the Breaking Bad series and liked it. In fact, if you haven't seen the series, you would find the movie pretty much worthless.

The movie was unneeded. It took a 15 minute story and spread it over 2 hours with unneeded cameos. Just a cash grab

Don't hit play expecting this film to outperform one of the greatest TV series ever produced. If you hit play expecting great acting from Aaron Paul and a movie from Gilligan as a director, you won't be disappointed.

After the absolute gem that is Breaking Bad, you are left wanting more, El Camino certainly gives you the closure you need. The only thing that made me go ‘what the hell’... the character who played Todd put on about 4 stone from the original series and with a timeline that follows straight on... you keep thinking ‘why?’.

Was unsure if this was the follow up movie we needed but after watching it, found it to be an erxcellent sign off to a fantastic tv show. Aaron Paul is great and the writing is as sharp as it was in the tv show

El Camino or Jesse the film. Great Breaking Bad experience in film format, which is "only" good not outstanding. Aaron Paul aka Jesse Pinkman is rightly the protagonist of the film because he delivers a great performance. Acting at a very high level, on the other hand, the narrative structure of the film is unfortunately too simple, sometimes lengthy. Many flashbacks accompany the film, which is a bit annoying in the end. All in all, it's a worth seeing return to the breaking bad story.

El Camino was neither better nor equal to Breaking Bad as you can't surpass perfection. Breaking Bad is undoubtedly the best or at least one of the best TV series of all time. This doesn't mean that movie was bad. It shows Jesse's final fate. Everything was same as the show; great cinematography, great acting and great direction. It however has slow pacing and movie could have been shorter. Overall, it has impact on you just like the series and should watch it after you finish the series.

This movie is basically a child of the Breaking Bad series. I actually should credit the Breaking bad series instead of this flick. But nevertheless, this movie generated so much intrigue, that I ended up watching every season of Breaking Bad until El Camino made sense. So, if you want to make sense of this movie, you NEEd to watch Breaking bad. The only reason I have removed one star from the rating was that you need to watch Breaking Bad to understand this movie.

O universo Breaking Bad é o meu favorito, amo todos os personagens e El Camino era o "episodio final" que a serie precisava, achei curioso o fato desse filme ter demorado tanto para sair mas ele entrega bem o que eu esperava de um final de Breaking Bad

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is a worthy successor to the original show and a much appreciated epilogue to the story of Jessie Pinkman. Aaron Paul yet again brings his A-game to the character of Jessie in a new chapter of his life, where he begins to be a lot smarter with his actions and a much calmer and remorseful person. Vince Gilligan also does a great job as a first time director of a feature with interesting cinematography and a good pace and rhythm. None of the actors had really aged since the finale episode of Breaking Bad to the point that it became distracting except maybe for Jesse Plemons whose gained a bit of weight since then so that was a bit confronting (especially after seeing the Breaking Bad Recap Netflix plays before the film). So yeah, El Camino is certainly a must watch for Breaking Bad fans and could defiantly still be enjoyed by people who haven’t even seen the show although they wouldn’t get the same amount of fulfilment by any means. Check it out gang, it’s on Netflix right now it’s not that hard. 8/10 Jay x

A film I will never forget. Brings closure to Jesse Pinkman's story but still leaves his future optimistically open.

If it wasn't done so expertly by Vince Gilligan, I'd be mad at it for giving an answer we didn't need. I'm happy we got a definitive ending for Jesse Pinkman and I enjoyed the ride for two hours. I feel this was an appropriate run time and format for this as well. A series would have been too much and a release in theaters would have been gratuitous. I was entertained throughout and it was nice to revisit characters I've enjoyed watching for so long with a story that was engaging and surprising at times. Obviously give this a watch if you're BB fan.

"Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" are my favourite shows and I've always been curious about the post Breaking Bad world. Even though this movie doesn't reach the same level of perfection as Breaking Bad Season 4/5, it's still a very good epilogue in my opinion. I recommend everyone who absolutely loves this universe to watch El Camino. Most of the extreme 0 and 1 downvotes are coming from people who see Breaking Bad as a masterpiece that should never be touched again. They're afraid that the show could be ruined (like what happened Star Wars multiple times). However, I hope that they continue to make shows and movies in this universe because they're not changing anything. They're only giving us new stories and more content.

It sure is Breaking Bad. It feels just like an extended episode, and when I say this, believe me, it's a very good thing. Besides what some people say, I don't believe the movie gives any kind of closure, it simply shows what happens to Jesse (Aaron Paul) right after the events of the finale. It also has a lot of flashbacks that are recieved with a certain feeling of nostalgia. The writting dosen't try to fly too high or be too creative and unfortunately when the topic is Breaking Bad the hype is real and I expected a more clever plot. It does create suspense in many ocasions and although it didn't match my expectations I consider the writting good enough. Maybe not as good as the best episodes of BB, like the train heist, but definetely as good as an averege episode. Just keep in mind that an average episode of Breaking Bad is better than the best espisodes of many, many other shows. Location scouting and scenarios really shine here. It's a very beatiful movie. The camera work is great and creative witch helps in creating imersion and suspense. The color grading is also very well done. It's very slow at times, but hey, it's Vince Gilligan, it's Breaking Bad, what else could you expect? If you are a fan of the show, it's a must watch. If you've never seen the show, the movie is great on it's own but I really recomend watching the show first. After all, it is a folow up.
