It's a complex, satisfying piece of entertainment, a succession of unexpected, outrageous scenes.

Some caper movies build suspense, while others tweak the genre with tongue lancing cheek. But this lesbian caper pic (how's that for a rarefied subgenre?) often pulls off both feats in the same scene, even simultaneously. [04 Oct 1996 Pg.04.D]

I remember seeing Bound years ago and I found it to be interesting and all I can say is that this is the first time I ever got to see lesbians in film history. I've seen little of lesbian flicks in my time but for this one is more of a crime thriller with some erotic scenes and all I can say is that I love Bound. Directed by The Wachowskis in their film debut before they did The Matrix. Corky, a lesbian ex-con played by Gina Gershon, is hired as a painter and plumber at an apartment building. She encounters Violet and Caesar played by Jennifer Tilly and Joe Pantoliano, the couple who live next door to the apartment. While he is gone, Violet seduces Corky. They are interrupted by Caesar and Corky returns to work. When she leaves for the day, Violet follows her and they have sex in Corky's apartment. The next morning, Violet tells Corky that Caesar is a money launderer for the Mafia and that they have been together for five years. Caesar and his mob associates torturing Shelly who has been skimming money from the business. Violet confides to Corky that she wants to make a new life but that she needs her help. Caesar returns to the apartment with a bag of money filled with blood and he washes, irons and hangs the money to dry. As much as I love lesbians so much, all I can say is that I love women. I love women a lot and the reason why I'm stating this out just like before just because they are sexy. They're sexy due to them wearing high heels, make-up, the way they look and many more. Here's a random quote which I've said in recently days:"Hey, kids. Hello! I'm Bubba Dunk Funkin's mummy and yeah, I'm the one who f**ked his daddy. And, uh, the come, uh, from John Cena ****, uh, you know, went inside my poosy and, uh you know, it may mixed up in there and it made my **** come. YEAH! All right anyway. Bubba's my sus and uh, Bubba's f**king gay as f**k. Ain't that right, Bubba? I'm not gay! Yay! Man, I'd rather watch lesbians. Uh, uh, yeah, we all do, don't we? YEAH! Ain't that right, Bubba? You can't see me! He got his looks from his mummy and you can tell and uh, he's a f**king bum, he's a f**king slut and uh, ain't that goddamn JOJ. I just don't like him. I got one good look at him until he was a fake f**k from the start."Despite the lesbian sex being talk about in the film a lot, the sex scenes only appeared in the first act and nowhere else so here's that. Bound is an erotic crime thriller that provides some of the neo-noir moments, stellar acting, sharp direction style, memorable sex scenes, excessive violence and a very entertaining value in your time. Despite that a lot of the erotic films are not everybody's cup of tea, it's still an entertaining one that will be in your filmography. Yeah, it's so good. Definitely the one'll be in the erotic category.

A great thriller, forgotten gem and debut of the Wachowskis. It can also be described as film noir love story. It won me over with the story, characters and set up. The movie is about Violet who is the wive of Caesar. Caesar is a higher up ranking Mafia member. Violet is trapped in her life like in a golden cage. Things get interesting when Corky a female ex con is hired in the same apartment building where Violet and Caesar live. There is a strong connection between the two woman. I stop here to avoid spoilers. The story is fascinating, intense and a rememberable roller-coaster ride. I was fully invested into the story and characters. To clarify it is one of a few movies where I stopped breathing because it got intense in a good way. Lets go to the cast aka team. I think this is a strong debut for the Wachowskis who directed the movie and wrote the script. It was clear that they will become big names in the industry. The main cast delivers a great performance. There is Gina Gershon as Corky. She is truly amazing in the role as lesbian femme fatal ex con. Jennifer Tilly as Violet nails the role as near trophy wife in a golden cage. Both have great chemistry together. Joe Pantoliano as Caesar rounds up the main characters. He sells his role as higher ranking Mafia member that is unsatisfied how things run. Other than those I remember John Ryan as Mickey Malone and Christopher Meloni as Johnny Marzzone being really good. In total we good a flawless performance for me and this together with the story made it a great experience. The rest is history as it is one of the highly praised movie that is nearly forgotten. I just watch it in TV even not knowing it was from the Wachowskis. However I recommend this movie for the great story, characters and entertainment. I think it is a hidden gem and round it up to a 10/10 as a 9/10 feels a bit too negative.

The true pleasures of Bound lie in the Wachowskis' inventive updated take on film noir traditions, sensuously realized by cinematographer Bill Pope ("Clueless").

The Wachowski brothers are to be applauded for a film that is also nearly as stylishly funny as it is sexy and fast-paced.

This gets very suspenseful (as well as fairly gruesome) in spots, and if it never adds up to anything profound, it's still a welcome change to have a lesbian couple as the chief identification figures.

Like so many other rob-the-mob movies, the plan seems pretty far-fetched, and the ending isn't much of a surprise. But if you like your films sprinkled liberally with sex, violence and humor, then you're bound to like Bound.

While the women go through a few of the motions, shifting decorously under the sheets and sucking face, there's no lust in their coupling, just choreography and the conceit of two filmmakers with nothing more on their minds than fake dykes and bloodshed.

Bound. Bound is one of the greatest thrillers ever made. It did really well but not in the box office. I could watch this film a million times and never get tired of it.

Overtly provocative and passionate, Bound is an entertaining stand-out to the Wachowski's long career ahead of them. So stylish and thrilling. Oh and Jennifer Tilly gives it the remaining zest we craved for.

Sparks fly when a pair of new neighbors fall into a lesbian love affair and scheme to lift a six-figure sum from an unwitting mafia goon. Written and directed by the Wachowskis, rumor has it that this film gave them enough cred with the studios to turn around and produce The Matrix a few years later. I can see that potential at times, though their work is still very rough around the edges. The first act is a real bore, borderline softcore porn that I very nearly shut off and wrote off, but the plot really comes to life at about the forty-minute mark and swiftly ramps into a rousing, unpredictable little dose of dark suspense. Sadly, no amount of nifty writing and unexpected twists can compensate for Jennifer Tilly's acting. She's Anna Nicole-Smith levels of bad, trying to seem sultry, deep and smart but really just coming across as drug-whipped and out of her depth. Apart from an inspired effort from Joe Pantoliano as the short-fuse mafia fall-guy, though, that's pretty much par for the course. Low-budget but high-intensity, it's always just this close to hitting its mark.
