DC’s *Blue Beetle* is a breath of fresh air for the superhero genre, delivering a vibrant, high-energy origin story bursting with an incredible amount of heart and personality. By stepping away from bleak, world-ending stakes, director Ángel Manuel Soto focuses on a deeply personal narrative that excels because it feels grounded, intimate, and unashamedly joyful. What instantly sets this film apart and makes it an absolute triumph is its phenomenal emphasis on family. Unlike the typical trope of a hero keeping secrets, Jaime Reyes’ entire family is right there with him from the exact moment he bonds with the alien Scarab, Khaji-Da. The dynamic of the Reyes family—anchored by a brilliantly charismatic breakout performance from Xolo Maridueña—brings an authentic warmth, culture, and hilarious comic relief that elevates the movie into an emotional, crowd-pleasing standout. The visual presentation is spectacular, utilizing a striking neon-soaked aesthetic paired with a fantastic 80s synth-wave musical score. The physical Blue Beetle suit looks incredible on screen, and the action choreography feels remarkably sharp, creative, and kinetic as Jaime learns to manifest complex hard-light weaponry on the fly. *Blue Beetle* perfectly captures the pure, nostalgic magic of classic comic book cinema while offering a modern, highly polished, and genuinely inspiring hero that is impossible not to root for.

The film was okay. The story was ordinary and boring. The effects looked very good at the beginning until the final fight, where it looked like an old video game.

Superhero movies need a level of suspension of disbelief, but the antics of the family way broke that to the point of farcical and ridiculous. I also really don't understand the mix messaging of him versus his family? Hero's don't kill ok, but Grandma and Uncle kind of do. The movie had enough sentimental beats I felt sorry for the pure Hero type, but not his crazy murderous family. Who seemed to take glee in all the death and carnage at the end. Also why did the pure hero just stand around and lets the goon do that at the end? Messy film with mixed messaging all over the place for sure. The Batman is fascist line was actually ok in the context of this was the branding/murderous Synderverse version of the Batman.

Pretty Avarege Super hero movie overall. It features a strong family bonding story that's fine. Hoping for more exciting future installments. If you're into super hero movies then give it a try but don't expect much in my honest opinion.

Blue Beetle has its flaws but does build a strong legacy as it keeps the essence in the heart as it makes us question what do we believe in that makes us stronger.

Jaime Reyes , the Latino Superhero or in this case , the poor Latino college graduate and his family that get caught up in rich people's problems and have their lives turned upside down. The good kid got attacted to the pretty girl from a different league and instantly screwed up his family's lives. Even though I've been a DC fan for a very long time Blue Beetle wasn't on my first or second team roster even though the Scarab grants him some really amazing powers and abilities. I am a harsh critic so please know this is my own opinion. I am a fan of Xolo after seeing him in Cobra Kai. He is a really talented kid and brings some of that Cobra Kai energy to this movie. He definitely is Jaime Reyes and has a ton of potential to succeed in many future movie roles including being in the Young Justice team. Uncle Rudy and Nana where probably the stand out funny supporting family characters with Rudy a.k.a George Lopez being given way more screen time and offering the most amounts of comedy. Being a comedian certainly helps add some fun into the movie but it reminded me of Marvel humour most of the time even in situations that didn't need the humour. Jenny (Bruna) is really cute but with the pacing of this movie I feel like there wasn't enough bonding time to actually create any chemistry between her and Jaime. They are both from different worlds so maybe if there is a future project and they spend more time together it would work. Being an origin this did a pretty decent job introducing the world to Blue Beetle however there are many questions that where left unanswered around the Scarab and ofcourse the original Blue Beetle Ted Kord. The Scarab basically offers Jaime unlimited amounts of power and weapons and at times feels very similar to Venom/Iron Man with the voice inside but Khaji-Da just has a better voice. The family aspect of the movie was good and since Latino family Vibes are very similar to my South African Indian family Vibes it felt very similar to how it was growing up especially with regards to the bonds and having all the family and relatives wanting to be involved in whatever you do. Times have changed though and in present day most families feel more detached and separated so was good too see a close family. You would have had to have grown up in a close family to appreciate the family aspect though. Representation matters and this did a good job in creating a likeable Latino character. In this movie it was his family and the love he has for his family that pushed him forward. The villains of this movie where a bit flat and generic and this was where i had the most issues. The one dude was just a man Android who did whatever his expressionless boss instructed him to do. Susan reminded me of a villain from a 90s action movie especially with that hairstyle. It's also hard to imagine that Kord Industries has so much freedom to do whatever they want especially in a world where Superheroes may have existed. The action was decent , nothing super epic, at times it was giving Power Rangers meets IronMan meets Spiderman meets Street Fighter vibes but just did enough to still feel like its own thing. The VFX for most parts where good especially with the weapon creation/flight, however you can tell that this movie was a much lower budget than other major blockbusters.I think if the studio committed to a cinema release instead of an HBO Max release it could have been much much much better visually as at times the vfx did feel very Streaming movie quality. Overall the character is fun and interesting with a great power set. Take Spiderman mixed with Nanotech Ironman and that's Blue Beetle . It does have a lot of heart, lot of comedy, action and moves quiet quickly but there is a lot of room for improvement. Blue Beetle or rather Xolo's Blue Beetle could be an amazing part of Young Justice if this stays in the new DCU . I feel like if this origin was a 6 part Max series it would have flowed much better, built more on the emotional moments between the characters whilst giving us history on Ted Kord as well and then it should have led to a movie where we get introduced to 1-2 new characters as well

Finally, Nickelodeon's first superhero movie is here. I'm all for representation but doing it in a bland way using the language of generic American superhero fare is always disappointing, and even worse, when it looks and feels authorless and cheap it's a wasted opportunity in a field already stacked against it. Blue Beetle has a cheap kid's TV-movie look and feel most of the time. I enjoy the social commentary, some of the horror leanings, the film's anime action and some dialogue and character moments stand out. But beyond that, it's sadly, predictably, nothing especial.

A mio avviso è promosso a pieni voti!

DC couldn't degrade like that. It's all about the director and the greed of Warner Brothers. The only thing I can praise is the design of the blue beetle. Even the special effects leave much to be desired in places.

So corny it beggars belief. Poorly acted. I had zero empathy for the characters. I will just put this down as 2 hours wasted.

When dealing with a story that leans so much on previous works, you have to be sharp in your execution and big in your arm movements. Blue Beetle is neither, so even the film's few bright spots are overshadowed by the overall sloppiness.

Blue Beetle delivers an exhilarating origin story filled with heart, action, and a fresh take on the superhero genre. Jaime Reyes' journey is a thrilling ride from start to finish!

It is painful watching characters that should know better make poor decisions, and not get punished for it. Just the storytelling... Not working for me

This really had mixed reviews from my friends in general, but I thought it was quite ok, but at the same time with very predictable story. Still I enjoyed the banter there between some of the characters and they were quite fun, even though the plot and everything like that was very superhero movie usual stuff.

Honestly this film was kind of a pleasant surprise. After The Flash shriveled up and died with zero fanfare, Blue Beetle managed to miraculously kinda work. Its definitely on the generic side, but where it counted it managed to show me some real heart. Especially in terms to its handling of family as a theme- they all end up having a lot of personality and feeling very likable, arguably being just as important to the film as the fight scenes, which themselves worked considerably better than prior films. I won’t pretend its anything groundbreaking, but I’d argue it was worth my time.

This film attempts to depict a Latino superhero story by infusing it with the most stereotypical, racist depictions of Latinos. Its plot is nonsensical, and every scene is melodramatic and overacted. Yet another 'product' that some executive was sure would succeed if only enough money was dumpstered into the special effects.

Solid film, funny from many facets with some good pop-culture callbacks. The Soul Calibre one made me really laugh. I get a lot of people feel the need to vote with their **** for brains, but they clearly haven't seen as many really bad movies as I have. If you think this is less than 3 I recommend watching Munchie (a pizza ordering alien) and then tell me this was a bad movie. Ignore the haters, they're only doing it because they disagree with diversity because it went missing for 2 decades or so. Same as the people who hate The Marvels have never watched Red Sonia

There is something here, but it is weighed down by all the worst trappings on the current superhero landscape. Incoherent is the only word that can be used to describe the plot.

Tinha visto uns Review que o filme não era muito bom, porém ele me surpreendeu e foi ior ainda. Não esperava nada e mesmo assim me decepcionei. Roteiro ruim, personagens ruim, diálogos piores ainda. A melhor parte é quando acaba

Just meh... If Mc Donald's were making movies this would it. It's sad that these movies are literally cut and paste. Pushing an agenda while making a subpar product. Almost like it hurts the culture it's trying to represent by making a mediocre movie written by a committee vs. someone who understands the source material. Would advise you don't waste you're time.

Very generic superhero origin story you’ve seen 1000 times. Brings nothing new to the table. Basically iron man/Spider-Man knock off but executed badly.

Overwhelmingly simple storyline with almost no plot and definitely some very weak attempts at humor. Graphically not bad, special effects were accomplished well and seamlessly. A weak attempt at best for a character development. Would not recommend as a purchase, maybe a free to watch when extremely bored and nothing else to do kind of day.

"Blue Beetle" is a relatively straightforward superhero film that can be enjoyed whether you choose to watch it in the cinema or at home. The quality of superhero films is often determined by the quality of their villains. Well-constructed antagonists with well-defined motivations enhance the hero's journey. The fact that Victoria Kord, portrayed by Susan Sarandon, does not transcend the city's bounds with her aspirations helps prevent the film from becoming excessive. While the action aspect may fall a bit short, the film remains cohesive and enjoyable. It's a lighthearted film worth indulging in with a bucket of popcorn.

The movie might seem similar to other comic book movies, but the humor is good. The family plays a role here. That's a unique take. George López is funny. The big bad guy has the same powers, unfortunately. I enjoyed the look of the costume.

The big problem with comic book is that they did copy each other stories, with heroes (and villains) with similar power or origin . Blue Beetle, by itself, is quite a good comic book movie. The casts are enthusiastic. The effects passable (better than any DC outings this year, in fact). However, this is essentially Iron Man, Ant-Man, mixed in the ethnic sensibilities of 'Ms Marvel'. It is so derivative of these superior products that you will agree with auteurs such as Scorcesse that put comic book films as the 'death of cinema'.

What it does well is have a strong cast with a great main lead of Xolo Mariduena as Jamie Reyes. The costume department and designers also did a terrific job on the suit. When you see it practically, it looks like they brought the suit from the comics to life. There are also some very fun and well-choreographed action scenes. Unfortunately, the writing is just not up to par and suffers from all the cliche tropes of origin movies. The first act is a drag to get through with its slow pacing and the writing for the family dynamic is not funny. The plot is predictable and the villain is another entry in the same as good guy but evil! There is also many question about plot points such as how Jamie is against killing but is okay for others to do it.Overall, it's a fine movie to kill 2 hours with and at least it's better than the previous DC entries.

Did you know this generic hero is a Mexican hero, because the movie sure will make sure you do not forget. The movie is somewhat a Mexican movie, more then a hero movie. Less hero development or defining of the person in the suit or the suits bond. If Jaime Reyes is not fighting he is moaning about everything. The love interest is so forced, in fact the whole plot is so forced. The movie does not build a bond with the audience, but tries so hard to make you laugh with corny bits. George Lopez kind of held the movie together

It was a bit of a drag. I get the whole premise is about family but I felt like any momentum was halted with 15 minutes of dialogue about family. For a minute there I thought I was watching a Fast and Furious movie, but with way less action.

A shame to see a $100,000,000 movie looking so cheap. An interesting culture shift for the genre wasnt enough to curtail the disjointed storyline and average cinematography. What's with all the purple? The pacing and screenplay just felt off. The injection of Latino pop culture stereotypes was pretty laughable and obvious throughout. If you can I would say avoid this one.

You can tell this was meant to be a straight to streaming show and they say it's the first Latino superhero on the big screen which is not true at all and they try so hard remind you that your watching a Latino superhero movie by telling you by rolling up stereotypes of latinos into a character/plot instead on focusing on making a good character/plot, there is nothing new or compelling to see here that you can't see in other superhero movies and that did it better I am happy this bomed, not the worst superhero movie but still basic as ****.
