John Wick: Chapter 4

Mr Wick returns for another action packed adventure in the JW franchise and still manages to pack a pretty solid punch. This was the longest movie in the franchise and while a lot of the movie could have been chopped off it still did enough to keep me entertained throughout the duration of the movie. There is basically not much story to follow as it's just end to end action and crazy stunts throughout the movie. Some action scenes are so unrealistic though and you wonder how JW keeps going on and on. At times it feels like he is made of Steel (hence the Baba Yaga of Steel?) as a normal human would break their bones and be unable to move. The cinematography is really good and probably the best in the franchise. The locations where great, the support characters where great. Donny Yen, Bill Skarsgard and Shamier Anderson did stellar jobs in their roles. Hiroyuki Sanada was also good. His daughter Akira was cute and that's about it. For an action lover, this is a must see. Kinda like Mortal Kombat but just with guns and martial arts. It is extremely violent and has lots of kills so sensitive viewers should stay away. Nothing gross though as most of the movie is shot at night so you don't see much blood or anything.

(As someone that knows nothing about D&D) Firstly can someone that doesn't know anything about D&D watch this movie ? Most definitely. It probably helps knowing some facts to identify Easter eggs etc but doesn't affect the overall experience. It was a fun movie filled with a good balance of comedy, action, adventure, story telling, monsters, treasure hunting and magic. Nothing that we haven't seen before in fantasy adventure movies but this still did a pretty good job and all age groups should have a good time. The younger audience seemed to enjoy it a lot more but some scenes are a bit dark so if you have kids younger than 8 maybe skip the movie for now. The core cast where good, Chris Pine(Edgin) and Michelle Rodriguez(Holga) being the stand out characters. Sophia(Doric) and Justice(Simon) did well as supporting characters. Sophia seems more flat in her expressions but her abilities made up for it. It felt odd seeing Hugh Grant(Forge) in this movie but he did a good job. Regè-Jean(Xenk) was only around for a short while but makes for an interesting character. Daisy (Sofina) looked evil but we didn't get to see much of her actual acting ability. Her powers looked cool but she made for a weak villain in my opinion. Overall it was a good movie

The 3rd installment and final chapter of the James Gunn trilogy. GOTG was never a group that I cared about in the comics but Gunn has made me a fan of this group of dumb idiots. This movie isn't perfect, has a lot of questionable moments but as popcorn entertainment it was great. It had a bit of everything from comedy, action, emotional moments, friendships and good visuals. The performances and chemistry between each core Guardian was great and they do enough to make you care about each one of them. The VFX was great especially since 70% of the movie features alien/animal creatures. The villain was good (better than most MCU villains especially the recent Kang) but in typical Disney fashion his "evil" nature was nerfed a bit. He just came across as a crazy dude who yelled a lot. The music selection was good, not the best tracks but it works for this movie and does not annoy you . It matches the change of tones and emotion perfectly Adam Warlock: SUPER nerfed in this movie. Almost feels like they just added him so that the dude can finally get paid . He should have arrived much much earlier in the MCU timeline as he could have been erased from this movie and nobody would miss him. The constant back and forth between Rocket's backstory and current events was not bad but just keeps changing the tone of the movie. People online refer to it as giving you "whiplash" and I kind off agree. Would have loved a Disney+ mini series focusing on Rocket's backstory so we could have trimmed this movie down to about 2 hours and it would have still been really good. Overall it was a solid movie with a bit of everything. Marvel and comic fans should be happy , general audience should be entertained. It was long but I was never bored. Can you take your kids? If they are over 10 then yeah Do I need to watch the Christmas Special? Not necessary but it's really short so rather watch it as it builds on some relationships/friendships. Is there post credits: Yes 2 but if you really need to use the little boys and girls room it's okay to miss it. Is the MCU back? I don't know, this movie stood on it's own so we could be back to mediocre when the next movie arrives.

Decided to join the family at the Sunday cookout and things got really crazy On a scale of 1-10 of ridiculousness , this movie ranks as an 11 . Almost feels like people in these movies have inherited the toon force. With the things that happen in these movies everyone should be dead within 5 minutes. Action/Destruction are all on max settings. I now know where those low budget Bollywood/Tollywood movies get all their ridiculous vfx ideas from. It's directly from Vin Diesel. Acting wise the core characters were no different from previous movies including Dom. He still stands out as the leader and guy who can warp reality to suit his needs. I bet him and John Wick from the last movie would make one unstoppable force. The support characters where decent, hatd have a good balance since there is just so many of them but they did enough to make you still want to know what happens to them. The villain Jason was great and felt like a proper threat but there where a ton of moments where he was just annoying AF especially with the way he acted and what outfits he wore. Coming back to the toon force reference it also applies to him as some moments just make you scratch your head and say WTF. The movie does end on a cliffhanger and teases part 2 of 300 . Unlike the other movies there was no Sunday cookout here so leaves you wondering what's next, almost feels like how a TV series ends. *Cue DragonBall Z end music and narrator voice* Is the Avengers or Justice League going to be called to help the family. Will there be any FAST family members alive. Will we see more cars and car girls at street drags. Only time will tell so stay tuned for the next episode of DragonBall Z Wait wait wrong universe but you get the picture

Animated movies are usually movies I watch at home but after the success of the first movie I had to watch this one even though it was over 2hours long. Visually this movie was stunning. The different forms of animation, the colours, the locations and the different versions of Spidermen/Women. If I had free time and some art talent I would totally want a 1000 page colour in art book of this movie. From the beginning of the movie we get pulled into the SpiderVerse adventure with some action and emotional scenes before diving into Miles teenager life and his daily struggles of managing school, family and Superhero life. Although this was a Multiverse adventure the focus was only on a few key Spider characters so the movie did enough to make you appreciate what they had to offer without it feeling too crowded and all over the place. Miles and Gwen have the most screen time however the new introductions of Pavitr and SpiderPunk offer some colourful ,spicy and funny scenes. Miguel seemed to be the most hard-core Spiderman who will do whatever it takes to protect the SpiderVerse. The villain starts out mediocre and has a lot of silly funny moment's but as the movie progresses he grows into an actual threat and makes for a great Multiverse villain. The story is well written, it was entertaining and keeps you glued to your seats and you don't even feel the 2 hours 16min run time pass by. This movie has a perfect balance of comedy, action and emotional scenes. It does get a bit dark and at times but is perfect for this story Overall it is one of the best comic book and animated movies .

As a DC fan and long time Flash fan I have been waiting for a Flash movie for a very very long time. Wasn't a huge fan of Ezra Miller's childish acting and his goofy running in Josstice League and still not a fan of him in real life but he is a great actor so was looking forward to seeing what he could do . The movie starts of with action immediately in present day with Barry being more experienced but still the little dude of the League. Paints a nice picture of what could have been if the rest of the DCEU didn't collapse . So much amazing potential was lost because of poor studio decisions and bad scripts. Once we get into the two Barry's then we really see Ezra's acting ability take off, a ton of funny moments a ton of silly goofy moments and a ton of emotional moments. Barry 1 is a completely different Barry, he seems much older ,much wiser, much more concerned with what he has done by going back in time. He almost becomes that older brother and takes everything seriously. Barry 2 is really childish and silly and at times I felt like punching him in the face just to say shut up but for the movie it works. It creates two different versions of Barry and adds to the fun factor. Enter...Keaton's Batman It was great seeing Keaton again, when I pictured an old Batman on screen I thought we would have seen it in a Batman Beyond movie or series but was still great to see him and all the classic vehicles/gadgets and the Batcave. Once again he played the leader role instantly and had some really cool action scenes. I doubt any normal 70 year old would ever be able to move the way he does but he is BATMAN Enter ...Supergirl Here we see Kara in a twist to one of the Flaspoint stories and she is basically there to help them with ZOD and rest of the Kryptonians. Kara is a bad ass and really pissed off after being held captive (not a spoiler). Since I am always House EL and I stand for HOPE I always get a burst of happiness flow through my spine when I see the symbol of Hope. I would love to have seen her in her own movie or alongside Kal EL in a Man of Steel 2 movie but it is what it is and hopefully James Gunn has some good plans for her down the line. Multiverse..... We see the multiverse take strain after certain decisions and we see bits and pieces of other worlds both past and present and how much history DC has. It brings together the strings to show audiences that all past, present and future can all be linked once the new DCU gets off the ground . VFX Besides some wonky vfx in certain scenes spread out throughout the movie most parts are done really well especially the two Barry's being on screen all the time together. Having speedsters means there is going to be VFX from start to end and they did a pretty good job, not amazing but pretty good in showcasing the Flash and his powers. If you watched the CW series , you would know some of his powers but here we see it done even better. Overall the movie flowed quiet nicely, it wasn't the best comic book movie ever or the best DC movie but it was pretty good and better than most comic book movies in the past 2-3 years. It had a ton of action, funny moment's, emotional moments, happy moments and ends off leaving you wanting to see what happens next. There is no mid credits but an end credits so you can stay until the very end .

Nolan was back at it again and this time his filmmaking skills was cranked up to an 11 in delivering a movie that could be described as proper "cinema" and certainly one of his best. -The movie was beautifully shot in typical Nolan style. The jump between Oppy's present day life /flashbacks including all the Black and White scenes make it a 10/10 when it comes to the cinematography. Hard to believe that a movie based around an atomic bomb only has practical effects but that's sort **** thing as the focus was on Oppenheimer and that's what we got .I do have a negative point about not using CGI which is at the end. -The movie was 3 hours long which I really felt especially after a tiring day. It was almost like 6 hours worth of story and dialogue squashed into 3 hours. The movie moved really fast though and if you woke up to go pee you would miss vital parts of the story. I personally would have been excited to watch this as a Nolan 3 part Documentary style Movie that would give us more details rather than having everything squashed into one movie. -The cast were incredible . Cillian Murphy really did an amazing job portraying Oppy and he felt like he actually was the real deal. RDJ was also amazing even though he only appeared in limited scenes. Emily Blunt and the rest of the big name cast also did great jobs. -The soundtrack was great . The audio and sound effects for some reason at IMAX was too loud especially for explosive scenes . Was this Nolan's best? Definitely in his Top 3 Who is this made for? If you love cinema/filmmaking/art/history/science/math/politics/documentaries/drama/thrillers then this is for you. If you are one of those people who can't pay attention for longer than 5 minutes then this movie isn't for you , you will be bored or fall asleep. Negative about not using CGI: A lot of stuff that's in the dialogue happened off screen and never shown visually. Keeping the entire movie practical means you missed out on an opportunity to make this the perfect movie. Showing certain scenes and the effect it had on the world would have been super epic and also emotional and this could only have been done if you used CGI.

I didn't want to watch this movie because I only own Black so didn't want to look like the Grim Reaper in a sea of pink. Now before you judge me based on my review remember that real leaders and good progressive people know and appreciate the good in every human they come across no matter if they are male, female, black, white, indian, asian, mixed etc. You rarely see these good people fight about who is better and most times they help each other get better and better. Throughout history woman have had to deal with being behind and treated as objects based on "rules" and "conditions" created by prehistoric cavemen and most men even in this day and age haven't been able to move past their caveman mentality. A lot of men take advantage of their stronger human form and bully woman or abuse etc because they feel it makes them stronger and like a "man" according to standards created by less intelligent "men" in the past. There are still a lot of men that have no respect for females and for themselves as well and those men are perfect examples of trash. Woman are not perfect as well and there are a lot that are equally as trash as their male counterparts (Still a ratio of 7:3 in favour of males) but there are also millions and millions of really hard working successful, dedicated , enthusiastic, compassionate woman out there just as there are men. Woman also put down other woman and even with this movie woman are marking themselves safe from Barbie and making fun of soft princess doll type woman which is part of the problem with society as a whole. Now that that's out the way. The movie was much better than expected. The entire Barbie World felt as if you was watching a theater production which made the actual Barbie World feel like a toy world . Some scenes where ridiculous but since it is a fake world it's expected to be crazy and goofy at times. The set designs where quiet stunning though even though it was the most pink ive ever seen. The cast were great especially Margot and Ryan . I've heard woman say he was too old to be Ken but I think his acting ability was enough to carry him through the role. While the whole Matriarchy vs Patriarchy storyline creates a ton of debate in this movie it was more like in Barbie land let's swap roles so you see how it feels to be us in the real world. Although the Barbies didn't care about the Ken's or their feelings or where they even lived it wasn't nearly as bad as what woman have been treated in the past. From being dumb see slaves, to locked in a kitchen and never allowed to leave or speak so being upset about seeing the roles reversed should be all the more reason to create a more equal environment.

Jaime Reyes , the Latino Superhero or in this case , the poor Latino college graduate and his family that get caught up in rich people's problems and have their lives turned upside down. The good kid got attacted to the pretty girl from a different league and instantly screwed up his family's lives. Even though I've been a DC fan for a very long time Blue Beetle wasn't on my first or second team roster even though the Scarab grants him some really amazing powers and abilities. I am a harsh critic so please know this is my own opinion. I am a fan of Xolo after seeing him in Cobra Kai. He is a really talented kid and brings some of that Cobra Kai energy to this movie. He definitely is Jaime Reyes and has a ton of potential to succeed in many future movie roles including being in the Young Justice team. Uncle Rudy and Nana where probably the stand out funny supporting family characters with Rudy a.k.a George Lopez being given way more screen time and offering the most amounts of comedy. Being a comedian certainly helps add some fun into the movie but it reminded me of Marvel humour most of the time even in situations that didn't need the humour. Jenny (Bruna) is really cute but with the pacing of this movie I feel like there wasn't enough bonding time to actually create any chemistry between her and Jaime. They are both from different worlds so maybe if there is a future project and they spend more time together it would work. Being an origin this did a pretty decent job introducing the world to Blue Beetle however there are many questions that where left unanswered around the Scarab and ofcourse the original Blue Beetle Ted Kord. The Scarab basically offers Jaime unlimited amounts of power and weapons and at times feels very similar to Venom/Iron Man with the voice inside but Khaji-Da just has a better voice. The family aspect of the movie was good and since Latino family Vibes are very similar to my South African Indian family Vibes it felt very similar to how it was growing up especially with regards to the bonds and having all the family and relatives wanting to be involved in whatever you do. Times have changed though and in present day most families feel more detached and separated so was good too see a close family. You would have had to have grown up in a close family to appreciate the family aspect though. Representation matters and this did a good job in creating a likeable Latino character. In this movie it was his family and the love he has for his family that pushed him forward. The villains of this movie where a bit flat and generic and this was where i had the most issues. The one dude was just a man Android who did whatever his expressionless boss instructed him to do. Susan reminded me of a villain from a 90s action movie especially with that hairstyle. It's also hard to imagine that Kord Industries has so much freedom to do whatever they want especially in a world where Superheroes may have existed. The action was decent , nothing super epic, at times it was giving Power Rangers meets IronMan meets Spiderman meets Street Fighter vibes but just did enough to still feel like its own thing. The VFX for most parts where good especially with the weapon creation/flight, however you can tell that this movie was a much lower budget than other major blockbusters.I think if the studio committed to a cinema release instead of an HBO Max release it could have been much much much better visually as at times the vfx did feel very Streaming movie quality. Overall the character is fun and interesting with a great power set. Take Spiderman mixed with Nanotech Ironman and that's Blue Beetle . It does have a lot of heart, lot of comedy, action and moves quiet quickly but there is a lot of room for improvement. Blue Beetle or rather Xolo's Blue Beetle could be an amazing part of Young Justice if this stays in the new DCU . I feel like if this origin was a 6 part Max series it would have flowed much better, built more on the emotional moments between the characters whilst giving us history on Ted Kord as well and then it should have led to a movie where we get introduced to 1-2 new characters as well

In a time where the words "Superhero Fatigue" is thrown around a lot, The Marvels just like some other Superhero movies from these past few years did nothing to bring back the love for the genre. The horrendous writing , pacing and messy vfx across a lot of recent movies and series unfortunately continues in this one. This movie was under the spotlight from the early stages of its production , went through a ton of story changes, a ton of re-shoots and delays etc etc and whilst not completely garbage it is not even close to being Marvelous in any aspect. Feels more like a B level streaming movie rather than a big blockbuster featuring the ex "Strongest Avenger" The movie starts off where Ms Marvel ended so if you havent watched that please do. The story bounces between the 3 characters with Kamala and her family bringing the comedy aspect to the movie along with Nick Fury (not the same character from Secret Invasion) and Goose. Kamala as a kid has a lot of heart, enthusiasm and excitement similar to Spiderman. She was on par with her performance in her own series and always wants to be involved even though she has no experience at all. We get a brief explanation of what happened and what's happening with a lot of fight scenes in-between with sprinkles of silly humour that distracts you from the poor writing and flow of the movie. Carol Danvers was a bit more energetic and fun in this movie but you get the impression that she just doesn't want to be a Superhero or portray the character anymore. As someone that's had powers for a long time she comes across as an inexperienced fighter who lacks the combat skills and intelligence needed to be a force to be reckoned with. There is no wow factor when you see her light up on screen which is kind of sad for such a powerful character. Monica Rambeau was decent member of the team who is still figuring out her own powers and if you didn't know how she got powers you will have to watch WandaVision for that. She puts in a good performance but when all 3 are together it's mainly Kamala that steals the show with her goofiness and cuteness. The suits that the heroes wear are actually really average. They don't look like high budget Superhero suits. They looked like TV series quality . Captain Marvels suit looked better with the VFX but other than that such low budget suits. The villain was probably the worst actress in this movie and did nothing special to make you feel like she was an actual threat. The bad script didn't do her justice and she felt like a budget version of Ronin The Accuser. Whilst she did do some serious planetary damage in the movie with the power she possessed but will unfortunately go down as one of the weakest villains in the MCU. The movie as a whole did have some funny moments and was better than the 1st Captain Marvel movie but it just leaves you wanting a break from anything to do with the Superhero genre. It makes for average popcorn entertainment if you are extremely bored and have money to waste. I wouldn't waste money on it and disappointed that these characters didn't get a movie they deserve .

Deadpool joins the MCU to finally bring an "R-rated" movie to the big screen. Felt good not watching a movie made for small children (sorry kids) It starts off in typical Deadpool fashion with violence, blood, action and some silly humour. The story was kind off meh and rushed, felt like going on a road trip to a random destination for no reason but the music playlist, company and pit stops in made it an entertaining journey. The relationship between Deadpool and Wolverine was great , you can tell that these guys are genuine friends outside of the movie. Just the two of them alone where enough to carry the entire movie (Top tier actors definitely help). The other cast members, cameo/s etc where good and did enough to make you care a little. The villain/s where okay, could have been more menacing with more to add but this goes back to the story being meh and rushed. If they added an additional 30min it would have helped further develop what's happening and what could come after this in the future. There was a ton of jokes in typical Marvel fashion (not all worked) but it didn't make you roll your eyes like with Thor Love and Thunder. The VFX/CGI was a bit wonky at times but because everything moves so quickly with the action you don't really pay attention to it. I think you notice it more when watching in 3D (reminds me of Dr Strange and Multiverse of Madness) Overall it is an entertaining and funny movie, it has enough heart to make you feel for these guys and it does well to honour and reference past movies. Pacing is great for an action movie. It's great fun popcorn entertainment but not for kids younger than 13 . There is credits right at the end so stay until the end. If you need to use the little boys or girls room then you can leave.
