Yakuza 0: Director's Cut

If you haven’t tried the Yakuza games yet, definitely start with 0. This is a fine example of what strong game narrative and character development should look like, and it’s just simply a darn fun game to play.

This 15-year-old game has aged well, with new cutscenes and other enhancements contributing to an epic, movie-like quality to the action. This prequel makes the perfect first entry for the Switch 2.

Yakuza 0 is still one of the best action games ever made, a game with a deep narrative, an exceptional cast, and a gameplay that is as multifaceted as few others. The Director’s Cut version for Switch 2 improves on the original in every single aspect, elevating its technical element and adding more “meat” around the bone with a new multiplayer mode.

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut may not be the best example of defining the graphical capabilities of a console like the Nintendo Switch. However, SEGA and the development team behind this port made an effort to deliver a solid game that both fans and newcomers will enjoy, especially since Yakuza 0 was already a great game when it released a decade ago.

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut establishes itself as an attractive edition and a great launch game for Nintendo Switch 2. The possibility of reviving one of the best titles of the saga (now with Spanish texts) is enough to give it a chance, although it could have offered some other weighty novelty or “quality of life” improvement.

Yakuza 0: Director's Cut stands as an excellent starting point for anyone looking to get into SEGA’s long-running series, with the hope, of course, that the following chapters will also make their way to Nintendo Switch 2. The game’s story remains the best in the franchise, and the late 1980s Japanese atmosphere alone is worth the (admittedly steep) price of admission. Between the main campaign, side quests, and optional activities, you’ll find yourself immersed in an experience that can easily last dozens and dozens of hours. Sure, the additional cutscenes feel unnecessary - if not outright detrimental to the narrative - and the Red Light Raid mode without local co-op makes even less sense, but the inclusion of more languages for subtitles and English dub could make all the difference in opening the doors of this saga to a much broader audience.

An excellent Yakuza game with some Switch 2 benefits, but the bonuses fail to justify the high price tag.

Game is good, but key card is absolutely horrific. You wait for the download, you have to insert the card to play, takes up space... Nope. First and last time that I buy this nonsense key cards. Its not even 64 gig it could fit in the proper card. I can't recommend this... Sega you failed us all.

Это не “боевка”, это мучительная каша из бессмысленных стилей. Я трачу больше времени на переключение между этими “стилями”, чем на то, чтобы реально кого-то нокаутировать. Хватит уже заставлять меня танцевать с гопниками в переулках! Где РЕАЛЬНОЕ насилие? Это просто балет для пенсионеров! И эти QTE? Я хочу играть в игру, а не смотреть кино, в котором меня заставляют СРОЧНО нажать кнопку “Y”, иначе я “недостаточно вовлечен” в эту убогую драму! СЮЖЕТ? Ох, Кирию. Бедняжка Кирию. Снова пытаются продать нам историю о “чести” и “дружбе” в мире якудза, который выглядит так, будто его писал подросток, который прочитал три манги. Это МЕДЛЕННО. Это затянуто. Я сижу и жду, когда же они наконец перейдут к делу, но вместо этого меня заваливают часами СКУЧНЕЙШИХ диалогов, где все говорят слишком серьезным тоном о каких-то мутных земельных спорах! МИНИ-ИГРЫ? Это просто издевательство. Караоке? Я хочу БИТЬ ЛЮДЕЙ, а не слушать, как эти пиксельные болванчики фальшивят! Кабере-клуб? Я купил игру про ЯКУДЗА, а не про управление стриптиз-клубом! Это просто отвлекающий, бессмысленный фарс, созданный, чтобы растянуть хронометраж этой пустой оболочки. Director’s Cut? Что они там “отредактировали”? Заставили меня ждать еще дольше, пока загрузятся текстуры, которые до сих пор выглядят, как пластилин? Это не улучшение, это ПЫТКА. Вердикт: Если вы любите медленные, перегруженные катсценами игры с боевой системой, которая раздражает больше, чем радует, и сюжетом, который можно пересказать в одном предложении, то Yakuza 0 — ваш выбор. Для всех остальных — это пустая трата времени, денег и нервных клеток. 1/10. И то, один балл за возможность хотя бы выключить это и пойти играть в настоящую игру. НЕ СОВЕТУЮ. И ВАМ СТЫДНО, ЧТО ВЫ ЕЕ ХВАЛИТЕ.
