Regicide attempts to build on classic chess, but the result is one-sided. Warhammer 40,000 license is underutilized with only two playable races. [Nov 2015]
Warhammer 40,000: Regicide is best recommended to only the truly dedicated fans of the Games Workshop created universe.
Chess lovers who were looking for a nice Warhammer-themed battle chess, look no further. The regicide mode is bloody good fun, yet there are a few things that could have been better, such as the monotonous campaign.

Warhammer 40.000 Regicide is the best Turn-Based Strategy game I have ever played, The game is so unique, and have the deepest mechanic ever built in a game because you can finish each mission in so many different ways, plus you got skirmish Regicide and Classic mode to play forever, and still not get bored. :)

Regicide is a great new extension of classic chess. Guns and weird Warhammer weapons greatly increase the challenge and game variation. Great to play with the kidz - they might not be excited by the boring look of chess, but Regicide brings so much more visual excitement. They learn the complexity of the great game in a fun stimulating way. A grand achievement.

We Got This Covered
The latest in a long line of Warhammer 40,000 games brings a great new strategy and a gorgeous appearance to its chess-based battles. It is an immensely satisfying experience.

Warhammer 40,000: Regicide is what every kid who played Battle Chess back in the day wished it could have been. It enthralls, but a lack of content and variety may see the majority of players move on far sooner than the game deserves.

A cute chess set for 40K fans and an unusual twist on the classic game, but skip the campaign.

Sure, Regicide takes strategy to an all new level, but this level is a tad too brutal for me.

Just a chess game with Warhammer characters. It's fun, but it could have been much better.

It’s chess with Space Marines and Orks, and a few twists in the title game mode.

Warhammer 40,000: Regicide has launched and released from Steam Early Access. The Regicide Steam Early Access was one of the better campaigns that I’ve participated in. The developer, Hammerfall Publishing, was very receptive to the community’s feedback, complaints, and concerns. Warhammer 40,000: Regicide has a lot to discuss. It’s definitely turned out to be more than what anyone first imagined. The added features are as follows: A 50-Mission Campaign written by Ross Watson, who is an official Black Library author, Skirmish mode, Hotseat mode, and Online Multiplayer. Personally, for anyone considering purchasing this item, I think the Online Multiplayer is the biggest reason to purchase the game.

I instantly fell in love with the idea and it brought back memories of the holographic chess battle in Star Wars i saw as a kid. Pros - Based on Chess - Animations, these guys feel strong like Space Marines - Beautiful models - There is so much blood and gore, this is a big + - Normal Chess and Regicide, so basically two games - Game is simple enough to jump right in, but has enough depth to keep playing and even learn more - Voice acting is fantastic Cons -Only two races to play as - Needs unique / hero units such as Dreadnoughts etc - Some base building / base management element would be very welcomed - More environments - There are no Adepta Sororitas in the game! Overall a very interesting idea and a solid 8 out of 10

This game basically has two modes - classic (chess) and regicide (in both modes regular chess pieces are replaced by fitting Warhammer units). Regicide is basically chess with a second turn per player - this phase is called the initiative turn and it involves drawing from a pool of initiative points to perform skills and use abilities. Pros: - Looks great. - Quality animations which look really brutal and meaty, really A+ animations. - Tried and tested core gameplay. - Really fun with a friend. - Cool ability customization. - Priced VERY fairly. Cons: - Could be better optimized (I think - I get occasional stutter on a high end system). - Doesn't show the units that have been removed from the board. Can slow things down a little. - For some reason you can't view your units (or your enemies) stats, abilities, movement range when it's not your turn; I feel like this is another little thing that unnecessarily slows things down. - Sometimes it feels a bit RNG heavy in the initiative phase and it can be frustrating when you miss four 50/50s in a row only to have your opponent fire back and land his hits. I would love to see some additional factions added to the game in the future, but for now - and for like £10 - I couldn't really ask for more.

i saw some steam users claim that if you like chess play this game .. ok this is nothing like chess hardly if feels very limited the animations are mediocre to say the least most of the time you will miss while orks allways will hit you in my oppinion the brought warhammer to a unknown level that feels out of place

SummaryRegicide is a novel take on the Warhammer universe, featuring an intense mix of strategy and cinematic gameplay. An original and brutal take on turn-based strategy, Regicide fuses characters, abilities and environments derived from the Warhammer 40,000 universe from Games Workshop, with traditional strategy and new action-heavy gameplay ...
