If you like lots of guns that feel the business, lots of demons who look the business, lots of tension, lots of suspense, a great plot that keeps you guessing and interested, and buckets and buckets of blood, then you'll probably love this.

Gaming Age
It’s the kind of sequel that gamers look for, just as if you were to see a great horror film and then anxiously await the next installment to get all the answers.

the fear that this game gave me was incredible its graphic violence also made me uncomfortable

There are enough things that feel distracting to keep this from becoming a classic game, but a strong enough foundation of gameplay and direction to make it a worthy addition to the console library.

A satisfying follow-up to those looking for more of the same. But those looking for a significant step ahead for the series will likely be disappointed.

PSM Magazine
The biggest problem here is that the game is short - though replay value comes from taking the "good or bad" paths - but it's one Hell of a ride while it lasts. [Nov 2005, p.82]

Although the game doesn't bring a lot of new experiences to the table, it does do a great job of adding to the experience gamers enjoyed the first time around.

After the interesting and confident debut of The Suffering last year, Ties That Bind remains a straightforward action game, and one with a coherent story that feels well paced, if too full of schlocky cliché for some. But that is, ultimately, all it does: remains. [Dec 2005, p.106]

Greatest horror, shooting, action packed game on the ps2 for the year 2005. Grotesque imagery, deep and dark story with creepy characters.

A shorter game than the original "Suffering", but also more refined. This is an action horror title that has more in common with "Devil May Cry" than "Resident Evil". For better or worse, there are less puzzles than in the first game. But the multiple endings (three in total) are still included. "Ties That Bind" has a better combat system and graphics than its predecessor. In its own way, it's about as good as the first. I'd rate it with an 8 out of 10.

Take the prequel idea to a next level. At some points it workds better than the real game, but some levels feels a little clunky. Overall, a solid and original experience.

A horror-based action sequel for those who enjoyed "The Darkness", "Silent Hill" and "Manhunt". It's a spooky, gory and profane shooter. Not a great game, but perfectly entertaining while it lasts. I would rate it with a 7.7 out of 10.
