The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication
The potential is there for The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication. It could have been an amazing horror game between its beautiful graphics, interesting use of Chinese beliefs, and its memorable monster designs. Unfortunately, its overly long story and poor enemy AI weigh it down. That’s not to say the game isn’t scary, of course. It certainly took me much longer than necessary to beat it just because I needed to work up the nerve sometimes to enter certain rooms. If you want a scare and The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication sounds up your alley, then I recommend playing until the end of the third chapter.
Despite these minor shortcomings, “The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication” remains a standout entry in the horror genre, earning its place among the pantheon of spine-tingling classics. With its spine-chilling atmosphere, engaging narrative, and solid gameplay mechanics, this haunting journey through the halls of a haunted school is sure to leave a lasting impression on even the most seasoned horror aficionados. Brace yourself for a nightmarish descent into darkness, and remember—once the clock strikes midnight, there’s no escaping the shadows that lurk within.
The authentic Taiwanese ghost stories, an intriguing university campus to explore, and a fun – if B-grade cheesy – cast make The Bridge Curse 2 well worth your time. There are also some genuinely memorable monsters and eye-opening scenes. This is one of those super-niche horror games that you’ll be glad you discovered.

The Bridge Curse 2 is a decent horror romp, sadly it could have been so much more. It opens genuinely giving you the impression it's going to be a cat and mouse style horror with one occasional support character and good background buildup in the beginning for them both. The game even starts extremely strongly with a semi decapitated spook in a fairly rigorous opening test of nerve. Sadly this is also the best part of the game and it's downhill from there in both gameplay and scares instead switching to multiple teen characters, none of which really get any development and feel like your typical Hollywood slasher victims. Even the spooks... if you can call them that, are a laughable and just come across as goofy compared to your first encounter. This game is definitely one of those ones where less, certainly would have been significantly more. Which is to say the game could have done without the slasher-esc victim style characters and stuck with the first two and built upon the story with them. At about 3-4hrs long the game is also very short and given how the game falls down I wouldn't say it's worth more than £10-15. One extra point than my Switch review because it at least looks a bit nicer on PC and PS4/5.

This one is a smart game, unlike the first game, a good mystical story and smart and exciting gameplay with brilliant ideas. And there are solutions that allow you to adapt and complete levels without replaying at all. With cutscenes and very nice puzzles. There's a map that shows if you've collected everything, and the menu clearly states how many endings there are in the game and which ones, but there are some mistakes, for example, a map might show you that you haven't finished a location because there is something in the future, but I'm collecting everything now, so the map should show that now. And the ending requirements are very meticulous. I would like the developers to stop doing this with multiple endings, or at least do it in a believable and understandable way without being meticulous and demanding to collect items throughout the location. Collecting items and reading a notes is very stupid and there are many solutions to this. Exist also two movies. It's not 10 because there is almost no soundtrack, you can't save everyone, the story and graphics not on the 10 level and it's a first person.

The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication delivers an intriguing blend of horror and puzzle-solving set against a rich backdrop of Taiwanese lore. While the game excels in creating a spooky atmosphere with its well-designed puzzles and immersive ghost stories, it struggles with pacing due to its heavy reliance on cinematic sequences and lengthy dialogues. These elements often reduce player agency, making it feel more like watching a movie than playing a game. Additionally, the ghost encounters, although initially thrilling, tend to become repetitive and less frightening over time.
