Overall, this is an excellent return to the Gears of War franchise, with well designed, detailed levels an an emotion-packed action storyline as good as a movie.

Overall, we have a nice expansion on the original title here with a beautiful colour palette, easy-to-play controls and plenty to do. It gets quite samey quite quickly though and doesn’t feel like a top-tier must-play title this year. One for the kids, perhaps via your all-in Game Pass rather than a shop spend.

The main game remains largely as ever, with its tweaks here and there - enough to satisfy most football-loving gamers seeking authenticity to their title.

Dylan’s melee gameplay evolves at a nice pace over time as his powers and weapons diversify, keeping the title feeling fresh. And newcomers won’t feel overwhelmed by not playing the original as it stands on its own feet separately.

While we’ve lost that Spider-Man freedom of travel here, we’ve replaced it with brutality and the sheer joy of chaotic violence. All delivered with plenty of heart.

While you’ll have seen all the various elements of this title in other games before in various forms, Capcom has done a wonderful job bringing it together and forming something that feels relevent and tells a great tale.

While this isn’t quite the genre defining hit like Street Fighter or even a top-level Mortal Kombat, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls delivers a strong side-scrolling fighter game with a cool 4vs4 gimmick that means the action on-screen is chaotic, brutal and brilliant fun to play.

Overall, it’s been a joy to jump back into classic Halo. There’s a wonderful new sheen to this makeover but the gun game underneath is still addictive, brilliant shooter fun like it always was. And now that it is on Playstation, gamers who have always steadfastly stuck to that ecosystem will get a chance to enjoy a true great in the gaming catalogue in all its modernised glory.

I’ve never quite fully gotten to grips with the motion control move-the-Switch-around-to-aim system on top of the thumbstick physical in-game character movement. But it does its jobs well enough in this title not to be a complete nuisance.

It’s feels intuitive and looks amazingly smooth on-screen as you button bash and combine skills to take down armies of starships. A great addition to the Switch 2 library and a must-buy for gamers.
