A rare misfire for the franchise. The premise is a good one, but the execution is awful. This is a non-canon action game that takes place during the aftermath of "Resident Evil 2". Gameplay is similar to "Left 4 Dead" and "Gears of War". Unfortunately, it feels unfinished. Combat is janky and the missions are short and basic. Playing the story mode with three other players online does make it slightly more enjoyable. However, the competitive modes aren't very exciting and are unbalanced. Overall, I would rate this with a 5.2 out of 10.

Pure action. They should have names it anything but Resident Evil. Story takes place right before RE2 but just... pure action.

I loved playing Resident Evil Op Rc for the first time on my xbox 360 at launch besides having nice graphics and you play and know more about Umbrella Corp, we faced the main B.O.W from previous REs.

It's decent. Not bad, but not great either. The story is okay and the gameplay is entertaining. Overall, it's worth a shot, and if you feel bored with money lying around and this is on sale. I recommend you try it if you have spare time.

Para jugar este tipo de juegos prefiero Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty, entre otros. De Resident Evil solo tiene el nombre, muy mal empleado por cierto.

I think this game broke a record for me, for being the game I've put aside earlier, after playing it for just a mere couple of hours. I love the RE franchise, but the single game campaign is just atrocious and the AI is ridiculous. I'm giving it a 3 for including established characters like Leon and Jill in multiplayer, but the game is definitely subpar.

A very great disaster. Raccoon City is a complete disappointment. Instead there is only grusel Geballer here. The controls are so rigid that you can not aim properly until the monster is right. The "heroes" are so flat the Action lame. Well, that have been found in Revelations 2 to its former strength.

Capcom tried to go and make a different approch with the Resident evil series and failed. They tried to mix this game up with 6 protagonist that no one gives a damn about, and mix the gameplay up with a survival horror , and special op type of ****. This DLC takes you back to Resident Evil 2 in a up to date, BS way. So you're basically Umbrella's clean up crew, and you have to remove any evidence of their involvement. The plot is steel, the AI can be very stupid at times, and there's no polish. Yeah, it's very Glitchy. The combat is so repetitive. It's just knife, knife and kick. I could care less about the extra weapons or abilities. This game is boring, unpolished, and takes itself way too seriously. It is don't buy.

This action spin-off of the main series would be fun if it didn't feel so odd to play and actually gave some progression as far as story. The control in the game just feels so floaty, and for me that is easily the worst part. Everything about this game just seems half-assed. The characters seem like they could be cool, but you never really get to learn anything about them. The story tries to intersect the plots of the main games but really misses the mark. The idea of this game was really cool but it really didn't work out. Fans of the series will be hugely disappointed but non-fans may find a somewhat enjoyable game here.

This game got way over criticized to the point I think a lot of gamers are becoming as disillusioned as IGN, because its actually a fun game with a pinch of Resident Evil nostalgia set in a what if universe and the game is like a cross between gears of war and left 4 dead, so maybe its a tad bit buggy, but its still a fun game and if you paid 10 or so bucks then you got moneys worth for sure, so don't pay attention to all the haters, because they probably drink the Bill Gates kool aid.

I was so exited when Operation Raccoon city came out, I had been waiting for months when I heard about it. So when I bought the game for 40 bucks I was so let down. The positives first, The shooting is fun and the graphics are beautiful and the voice acting is solid. Now for the games many downsides. The story is terrible a sadly short. The A.I. is terrible and the pacing is terrible. I don't hate it because it's not horror themed, (hell I like Resident Evil 6) it just doesn't appeal to me. 2

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City takes you back to the RE: 2 story and setting during the initial outbreak in Raccoon City but you take the controls of Umbrella Spec Ops tasked to clean up this mess and cover up the incident. Sounds great right? That's what i thought too. This was the last game I purchased that I was unsure about and went into it blind. It also turned me off paid games for awhile, going back to free to play games. Pros of the game? What pros? The idea in and of its self i thought was amazing. Its a true spinoff of the series. Resident Evil as of late has totally abandoned its survival roots and went PURE action. This has been very disappointing in the series, and the idea of an action spinoff series like this I believe is a great idea. It would of given fans a different take on the game series following a part of the story a lot of the fans find the best part of the whole series. Unfortunately though the idea was great, at least in my eyes, they executed it completely wrong. Cons? Everything. The movement and combat feels awful. It reminds me a lot of 3rd person shooters from the PS2 era. Nothing seems polished or finalized, it honestly feels like an alpha of a future game. Some of the voice acting is alright, but most of the time it is a comedy show running and you cant help but to laugh. Dialog is awful and the story is just a joke. You eventually come into contact with a T1 Tyrant, which you cannot kill. You basically just run from it. Most classes are worthless, and people will be fighting trying to play Lupo, Vector and Spectre. And the end of the game you get the choice to save or kill Clair and Leon, the most generic choice ever and nothing is explained before or after. The game is bundled with a DLC that I never even bothered to download, which i believe covers the government ops that are shown in the triple threat trailer, basically giving you 2 bad games for the price of one. Overall the idea i think is great to have this type of a spinoff, but it needs to be done properly. The combat needs a huge overhaul to fix, a proper story with good voice actors. Fix these HUGE issues and they could have had a good spin off series. If rereleased by a different developer, i would try it again. All i can say from this game and the new DMC game is Capcom, keep your babies IN HOUSE. 3/10

Truly one of the worst games of 2012. Don't play this. Don't look at this. Don't even think about this. Especially if you're a fan of the previous Resident Evil installments. Simply abysmal.

I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this. It was my first full Resident Evil experience too, but after playing the single-player, I am ashamed that it. The controls were confusing, the layouts of maps were terrible, the AI was horrendous, there weren't enough checkpoints (IMO) and the campaign was short too. Combat was a bit dull as well. If you're going to unlock all the achievements in this game, I STRONGLY advise playing in co-op. This game is completely broken and Slant Six should be ashamed that they rushed this out of the door.

Awful game, awful characters, awful story, awful game play, there's hard to think of one thing this game gets **** only reason I didn't give this game a one is because it is at least playable. It's an insult to fans, that may look like resident evil, but overall is just a bad version of gears of war.

I think it was a good idea but Capcom gave little money Slant Six Game to create a game based. The characters are charismatic, weapons are well balanced (except the Samurai Edge destroys any other gun). Of course it has some flaws such as having no real cutscenes, the unbalanced difficulty, lack of bilities for the characters, some mythical enemy of the saga are not present (where ravens and spiders?) .. . with a little more money and time, I think that RE could be worthy of a 5 RE ... But Capcom has preferred to focus on RE 6, very bad and unworthy of the saga. It's a shame, I still hope a sequel !

Personally first i would like to say i am new to the Resident Evil series i own Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. But so far i have liked and enjoyed them but this one was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Let me start off with a short summary because thankfully the plot is easy to follow. You are part of an Umbrella hit squad where you can play as one of six characters who are Lupo, Four Eyes, Bertha, Beltway, Spector, and Vector and you are sent into Raccoon city after the first mission where you fail to retrieve virus samples from William Birkin who is a scientist behind the G-Virus which was a more advanced version of the T-Virus which was the original virus and the one you mainly deal with in this game. While in Raccoon City you deal with a series of problems umbrella has but it mainly boils down to this you are covering up Umbrella's involvement in the Raccoon city incident. Along the story you will meet series favorites such as Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Red field, and Sherry Birkin. Now i want to this some of the positives with this game because yes even though the game is deficient in some areas i have still put considerable time into this game. As i said in the beginning the story is easy to follow and it is somewhat entertaining, the six characters you play has have cool descriptions about them plus when their class abilities because each characters has at least 6 different abilities some are passive the others are more direct. Personally my favorite and probably the most useful is Bertha's ability to immediate;y cure an infection because in this game you can can infected and if gone on too long your characters will just become basically rabid. Another positive is that there is a big selection of guns to unlock and to me that was a reason to put the amount of time that i have played in this game. Also i found the action in the game very cinematic, and for what this game is the graphics are ok. I also enjoyed the bone chilling voice overs during the cut scenes that occur before each missions. One final thing i enjoyed was how there is a leveling up system to where you spend the xp you earn to purchase weapons and upgrade your abilities. Now lets get to the games negatives, even though i said the story is entertaining it is also very short. I beat my first play through in just 5 hours and 25 minutes, then without much upgrades to Beltway on a second play through i beat the game in 4 hours then when i did a third play though as vector i beta the game in 2 hours and 5 minutes. WHY the heck is the game so SHORT! My third play through is even shorter than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part 2 video game which should take you 2 hours and 52 minutes. Another big negative is that the team AI as well as the enemy AI is very deficient on more than one occasion my team AI would not move through the level with me stand out in the open, and or not even fire at the military personal when fighting them. Also even though Berth at times would have like 3 health spray cans she would only use them on herself and not bother with the other team when myself and the other 2 Ai players were on very low health. Now the enemy Ai is not much better sometimes they will just charge your positions and other times they won't even shoot at you but for some reason these problems occur less so with the enemy Ai then the team Ai. Another problem with the both Ai's is that if you or the enemy military place land minds on the ground on more than one occasion either side would just blindly walk into the mines. This next negative isn't as big but something that i feel needs to be mentioned when you level up all it does is give you experience to purchase weapons and upgrades an nothing else i felt like there should have been more stuff to spend it on like concept art or additional characters and hidden bonuses. One last negative is that while there are two endings the final battle is climactic but the cut scenes that result afterwards are a mixed bag, the good ending is actually somewhat satisfying but when or if you choose the evil ending after the battle the cut scene just ends abruptly. Now putting everything aside i still somehow enjoyed them game because as is aid you can level up and i have played the game for so long that i am rank 71 and still have not hit the level cap yet. So if you are just looking to get into the Resident Evil series i could recommend this game because it does a decent enough job to get you introduced to the series if you have not done so already but if you already are a big Resident Evil fan like some other people out there i could say you can just skip this game.

Having been a big fan of RE since its earliest days i was kind of excited to hear about this game. Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City sounded pretty awesome on paper and was interesting to me as a fan of the series. I will also say i don't like what capcom has done to the series by taking it away from its intense atmospheric moments in favor of fast paced action but with ORC i knew what the game was and wasn't worried about that. However it really just fails to bring itself above any of the competition in a meaningful way and is pretty bland and repetative. The controls are clunky and don't function well at all times specifically trying to switch weapons often locks me into the sidearm mode since its mapped to the same button and the cover is poorly done with no button mechanic. The visuals are sub par but aren't bad and the AI is downright dumb as hell. This game deserved nothing more than a bargain bin price but somehow sold over 2 million copies. I think this game rode success on the name alone but i'll give it that its not a bad game its just not really a good game either. Very mediocre and very underwhelming. You could do a lot better with your money but you could also do worse. 5/10

i have been a fan of RE forever i love it to death when i heard that this game was going to take place in racoon city i thought that another spin off like resident evil 3 would be a great addition to the story. so i popped in the game and all i can say is.... WHAT THE IS THIS jesus christ capcom what the happened to having a soul what happend to extreamly limited ammo, terrifying aptmoshpere, and those fixed camera angles that we all know and loved???? that was what made resident evil great and this game has none of that it depresses me when i think that capcom thinks that they need to change their masterpeice into a ****ing 3 person shooter THIS ISNT SURVIVAL HORROR TIS IS CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS ZOMBIES jesus christ i thought that residetn evil 5 was pushing it i was sadly mistaken Capcom better step up its game

I don't see why everyone is ranting about this game.. I love it! Positives; -The graphics are amazing. -You can choose your character and team before playing. -You can choose from four different difficulty levels (casual, normal, veteran and professional). -The cut scenes aren't too long. -The loading screens aren't always long, but even when they are, there is only one in each mission which is at the start (never any in the middle of game play). -The story line is strong and links to every mission. -It is highly addictive; when you start playing you can't stop! Negatives; -The AI team are absolute ****, so it's best to play co-op. -Unlike some of the earlier RE games, this game is focused more on the action less than the actual horror. -You can sometimes be out of your depths with the amount of enemies. -Some of the enemies are extremely hard to take out- for example, hunters. -Some of the levels are hard to pass, even in the early stages.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City was disappointing on so many levels that I can't do it justice on this sight. To give it a little grace, the multiplayer was alright and I enjoyed the campaign, but this is definitely not Resident Evil anymore. This is 3rd person shooter, with cover system and zombies. It was kinda fun, but at the same time I grew bored because I forgot this was a Resident Evil game. Can't recommend it, but there are worse games out there.

Operation raccoon city. A game which has been slammed by critics and fans alike. Seriously this game is everything i expected it to be, a third person socom with zombies. The story is set in many well known locations such as raccoon city police department, hospital, cemetery, (the building in resi 3 with the guy who locks himself in a storage tanker.) the gameplay is fun and controls really well, the cover which people seem to hate iv had no problem with, the shooting mechanic is really good and the abilities can be pretty cool. The melee which everyone seems to complain at is really brutal an makes you feel badass however online it is easily spammed and does no damage at all, speaking of which online the heroes mode is rediculous the heroes are total bullet sponges which is just stupid they should have the same health as in any other multiplayer mode. People keep also saying that there is no atmosphere this is wrong just from the fact that every location you are in is very well known. This game is alot of fun, if you are thinking this is going to be like other resi games you ll be disappointed you should know what ur buying before you do so watch some youtube gameplay and if you get the game remember to turn the gamma in options on the game to full because then you can see everything, the really dark areas are still dark but know you can slightly see whats there.

My God almighty... What the hell happened here? How can anyone destroy such a great premiss in such a way? When I heard of this I honestly thought it was a great idea. Playing a team working for the Umbrella Corporation busy getting rid of evidence in Raccoon City during the second game... AWESOME! And what we got was nothing short of one of the most generic, boring, and broken 3rd person shooters I've ever played. The lack of feeling of threat is astounding. This is mainly caused by an AI which couldn't outwit a used teabag. I can live with zombies not acting intelligently, but human enemies running around like headless chickens and friendlies intent on lighting themselves on fire (when not running blindly into mines) happens so often hysterical laughter of disbelief is replaced by frustrated screams of rage. Add to this an appallingly lazy level design, scripted events with the timing of most public transportation services and you've got a game which should be avoided at all costs. The only reason I can give it a two is because the flaws of this game more often than not caused me to laugh out loud.

Finally got around to picking this game up, despite the shaky reviews on it. Used, of course. Oddly enough, my complaints on the game actually differ a bit on a few issues. First of all, unlike every other review on the game, I have no real complaint with the controls. If anything, I prefer this over the standard RE tank-style controls anyday. However, the cover system is kinda lame. It's set so that you take cover next to walls and debris whenever you walk into it. Not only does this create moments where you'd accidentally get stuck on a dumpster or something when you're trying to run away from a horde of crimson heads, but it actually pulls the reverse, where I'm desperately trying to get to cover and away from spec-ops gunfire, but my character decided that he'd rather just stand next to that car and soak up the bullets with his face. The melee fighting, while badass, is cumbersome and needs work. The enemy AI presents another problem. It really is a bad as people say it is, making it almost impossible to deal with certain parts in the campaign that would normally require a team to finish an objective. Everything's pretty much left up to you, alone. While the logical solution would be to take advantage of the online matchmaking and get a co-op campaign started, there's one obstacle in the way. There is absolutely NOBODY playing the campaign online. It was more than once that I started up a pre-game lobby, with the hopes of getting some players to help me get through this part of the story that I was stuck on. Instead, I'd sit there for over 20-30 minutes, without as much as a single gamertag popping up on the screen for even a second. I even once had it up for over an hour while I was on my laptop. I figure that anyone who has this game is probably playing the versus mode, if anything. Next topic. Here's a VERY common scenario that you'd often run into when playing through the campaign by yourself. You're going around kicking some zombie ass, popping heads like a professional, when all of a sudden, you somehow got infected. Now your health is draining and you have no anti-virus sprays in your inventory. But look! A glowing blue cylinder at the far end of the room! Perhaps you got lucky and a zombie randomly dropped an anti-virus spray? Maybe you can make it through this after all! You run past all of the zombies in a mad dash to keep yourself from dying when you finally reach your luminescent prize... Only to find that it's, in fact, a stun grenade (which glows a very slightly different shade of blue from the antivirus). Not only that, but you already have the maximum amount that you can possibly carry in you inventory as they're useless against zombies. Finally, you succumb to the disease and turn into a zombie. Game Over. The ease of contracting the virus in this game is staggering. Not only can you get infected by getting bitten by a zombie, but also when a zombie pukes on you, scratches you, or so much as looks at you funny. I'm also fairly sure that half of the BOWs don't even need to damage you to infect you. What I found really out of place, is that despite being put through the above scenario far more times than I'd like, a check through my records show that I have never once been bitten by a zombie. I probably wouldn't mind as much if infection wasn't an instant death sentence in single-player. But as it is, it makes playing through the campaign by yourself a nightmare. What really makes me sad is, that even though I really do enjoy the zombie killing in this title, this is one of the few games where I find that I'm actually forcing myself to beat the story. I don't hate the game, but there are just too many problems as a whole for me to fully enjoy it. I really feel that this game could've been far better if it was held in development for just a little longer. The AI could've been improved which, alone, would've greatly enhanced the gameplay. Maybe they could've also tweaked the melee fighting into better working order. Not to mention, smooth out the cover system.

I wanted to like this game. I really did. The concept is extremely cool, but the execution is downright sloppy. "Operation Raccoon City" is like a blend of "Gears of War" and "Left 4 Dead". If only it played as good as either franchise. Unfortunately, the developers at Slant Six (PSP's SOCOM) managed to squeeze out only a fraction of fun with ORC. The game takes place during the events of "Resident Evil 2" but is told through the perspective of the bad guys. While a biohazard outbreak occurs in Raccoon City, a group of Umbrella operatives are sent into the "hot zone" to dispose evidence of the company's involvement. The team encounters cop Leon S. Kennedy , groups of Umbrella mercenaries and plenty of zombies along the way. Playing the campaign online is the best way to experience it since horrible friendly A.I. all but ruins the single player mode. Glitches and poor game design also hurt the campaign which has good moments, but is ultimately uninspired. The competitive modes aren't too interesting either and suffer from balance issues. "Raccoon City" isn't a total loss due to some good ideas and some decent moments, but it could've been a great co-op game. Too bad.

This title is a pretty generic shooter, which based its charm in the online aspect, offering possibilities there that his poor individual campaign depletes us. A title too generic and nothing particularly remarkable or funny, he finds redemption in multiplayer.

Purchasing this title, i went in, expecting the worst, however, i was very pleasantly surprised. I found this game to be both enjoyable and unique. ORC has flaws (aiming system, enemy health variation) but i found these avoidable and not all that bothersome or extreme as portrayed by some critics. I can see why die hard fans of the resident evil series would be disappointed as it did not resemble resident evil 5, or 4, or any others, but is a fun game for someone looking for an action oriented 3rd person shooter.

Horrible.....Crap.....I bought this game new, in spite of the negative reviews (I often like games that sometimes get negative or mixed reviews) and really wish I could get my money back. I'm sorry but when the very first boss type encounter has you run away from the boss only to get cornered in an area by an invisible wall where you gotta shoot an eye on the guy that is hard t oeven target because you are in such a small area...then he knocks you down constantly with attacks that don't even come anywhere near **** they even test this game prior to release?......absolute CRAP! Please do not waste your time with this.

I seriously hate all of you for making me think this game was garbage. This game fully made me learn that I cannot trust ANYONE on the internet when looking at reviews. All of you gave this game a bad rap for the following reasons : it's not scary like the originals; it's action packed and doesn't feel like RE; the lackluster AI; short story mode. There are probably other petty reasons, but those are the main ones. First of all, judging a game because it's not like the previous games is just bias and awful. You have to judge this as a standalone game because it's a spinoff made by another company. Second, the AI isn't even that bad - playing with other people can solve this greatly, seeing as how that's how they designed the game. The short story mode doesn't matter because it has replayability. The difficulties help with this as well. You'll always want to go through the campaign again because you get XP and you get to experience the different classes. The XP lets you unlock perks and weapons, which carry over to the versus modes, which by the way, are also very fun. SO PLEASE, DON'T LISTEN TO THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. FORM YOUR OWN OPINION. THIS GAME IS GREAT IF YOU'RE INTO ZOMBIES AND JUST OVERALL FUN ACTION WITH YOUR FRIENDS. FORM YOUR OWN OPINION. FORM YOUR OWN OPINION. FORM YOUR OWN OPINION. I give this game an 8.5. But I'll just round it up to a 9 since it won't do decimals.

I'll start off by saying i paid only $20 for this game and if i paid $60 my score for this game would be getting chopped down abit to around a 4. though i was wise enough to hold off and the reason is because this by its self is only **** the rest of it is locked away or wasnt finished apperently and was added later as DLC like the spec ops missions which has you playing as the good guys ...really capcom ... you with hold half the damn game and break it up into to DLC packs and charge $9.99 for them? then there are no unlockables for this game as they are also all DLC . so prepared to have your wallet **** to get the full game . though like i said i paid $20 so for $20 more i got for the most part the rest of the game out side of the unlockables which i passed on. now for the game its self its not bad the graphics are decent but certainly not up to par with what they could have been. game play is some what like Gears of War and the game its self is kind of fun with some friends when you are fighting zombies and monsters , though i hated it any time you fought any guy with a gun and it no longer felt like resident evil just felt like a bland shooter . there are 7 missions (14 if you got the 2 DLC packs) that are around 40-60 min long so the game is about 5-6 hours long or double that if you got the DLC . as for replay value there really isnt alot , i ran through it 3 times although 2 would have been enough but another friend wanted me to run through with him . the classes don't feel like they add much of any thing to the game play since you spend 99% of your time just shooting or moving to the next place to shoot stuff any way and there special abilities do very little to make it feel very differnt from the others. The gun selection is decent but very few of the guns outside of what type of gun feels any differnt from the other. you can't upgrade your guns eather which would have been nice. overall this game just barely gets a score of a 7 and thats only like i said because of the price . its just to much of a bare bones game where capcom's real goal is to milk you to death on DLC for the real game . my advice is rent this first or buy it very cheap do not spend more then $20 on it .

Without the Resident Evil-name on it this would be nothing. It is really funny and interesting to see the story on the umbrella security-service and coop is fun for some hours, but that is it in the end. The graphics are very bad for present standards and the gameplay (controls) lacks precision and just is not smooth enough. Sure it is an shortly enjoyable campaign and the multiplayer modes can be funny too, but the awful AI, the real bad graphics and the controls destroy all the good points in this game. There are a lot of DLCs out right now and I think this is an awful rip-off too.

This game **** plain and simple. It does not feel like a RE game and the gameplay is so boring and lame. The characters are all boring and the story ****. The character models are good but the levels are all bland and boring. It also has issues where wall cover will get you killed and picking up items can be a chore. Skip this and wait for Resident Evil 6 this fall.

This is the worst Resident Evil game since outbreak! The shooting mechanics of this game is criminal. But what really ticks me off is when the computer controlled characters run up to gun wielding enemies with a knife! Talk about don't bring a knife to gun fight sheeesh.

Now I know where capcom has been hiding all there jank. This game is janky janky janky. It has some cool moments and Love the concept but the execution is off the mark. Gun controls, dumb AI, really cheap checkpoint system, and being rewarded for dying in co-op(when you die you respawn with full ammo and more grenades) All these things break the game and put it in a sub-par category. But i was able to finish it and if you're a achievement score **** like myself it worth a few hours to boost up DAT G.
