Let's start off with the good, since this won't take long. The visuals are very nice, at times a little bit dull, but overall look very good and all the set pieces look great. The story is fine, it's not totally uninteresting and the setting is great. The characters are okay, there are only a couple I actually like, but heyo. That's more of a neutral point. The gunplay is largely satisfying, with some guns feeling genuinely very powerful and fun to use. As the game drags on the combat does get rather tiresome, though. Time for the bad. I have a whoooole lot of big and little things wrong with this game. Let's start with the story. The elephant in the room with this game is that the story only clocks in at around 5-6 hours, and considering the game has absolutely zero replay value or side modes outside of the story, that's absolutely unforgivable for a AAA game that retailed for the price it did. Not only this, but even though the game lasted that short a time, I feel like the narrative was dragged out far longer than it should have been, by the 10th chapter (of 15, if I recall correctly) I was already thinking "is this gonna end soon? I hope it does" which is never a good sign. I will admit though it's impressive to only have 5/6 hour campaign and still make it feel like it's dragging on. Nice job, Ready At Dawn. Let's get to the problems with the gameplay. I did mention that the gunplay was satisfying, and while that is true, the actual gameplay sequences (including combat) outside of just walking around doing **** all until you get to your objective, are far too few and far between. In the first half of the game this is particularly apparent, with the game seemingly wanting to wrestle control from you at any point it can, with it swapping to a cutscene for the most pointless **** This game has a serious problem with interactivity and people who have played the game will know exactly what I mean. And despite the combat sequences being few and far between, by the end sequences of the game combat just becomes a chore to slog through to get to the next cutscene, and they tend to drag on for 10+ minutes at a time with enemies constantly flooding in and spawning in seemingly until the level designers got bored on placing enemies and decided to move on. The combat sections just feel rather lazily crafted most of the time because of stuff like that, and most of the sequences just feel like padding. A small gripe of the story, or specifically the writing is how obviously unaware the characters are of the narrative and other characters. There was more than one point in the game where Galahad (the protagonist) was told the same piece of information twice, and still managed to be confused on the second time. A glaring example of this is when we find out the reason one of the characters trusts us is because of their alliance with another character, and Galahad and the player and clearly told and communicated this, yet when the character mentions it later on, Galahad is totally ****ing befuddled by it. The difficulty of the game is also a glaring issue. For most of the game, the combat is unbelievably easy. Enemies can go down in a single shot if you're even slightly familiar with a controller, and the only enemies that don't are the shotgun types. The shotgun enemies are not challenging because they are well crafted, they are only challenging because their weapons are ****ing broken. At several points I had them shooting at me through thick walls and killing me in only one or two hits. Not only this, but they have an unbelievable amount of health, which makes the imbalance they have over the player that much worse. The difficulty, or lack thereof, is also a problem in the total of TWO ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL boss battles throughout the game. These two short lived battles are essentially glorified quick-time events, and even though you are forced to feel threatened by them, the actual fights are so easy that it's genuinely laughable. Let's talk about the bad side of the visuals though. There is only really one big problem I have. The black bars used to obscure the top and the bottom of the screen for 'cinematic effect'. Not only is this a total cop out for the lack of power in the PS4 to get this to run at a full 1080p, but it also becomes a HUGE burden on the player during combat. Working together with the absolutely tiny field of view the player gets, you are almost always completely unaware of your surroundings when in cover in combat, as the camera hangs so low and close to Galahad. While the controls are fine for the most part, during some combat segments the controls got in the way of me getting out of the way of harm, and when Galahad is sprinting turning is almost impossible, so I found myself more than once trying to sprint away from enemy fire only to run headfirst into the bullets and subsequently either dying or losing most of my health. I wanted to like this, I really did. But I really don't. 3.5/10

Guitar Hero Live9
Apr 18, 2016
The best, most varied and easily the most open Guitar Hero game to date. With a constantly updated tracklist with tons of variety in genre and difficulty, and one of the best base setlists in GH to date, this game's shortcomings in its lack of true online play and oddly devised 'pay for plays' system hardly end up hindering the experience.

When I played both the closed and open betas for this game, I very much disliked this game. I didn't have fun with it at all, with or without friends, but for some reason, I gave the game another chance and bought it. In my 10+ hours of gameplay I have so far, I have had an absolute blast. I have no idea what I missed in the beta, or if there were mechanics or elements absent from the beta that make the game far more interesting, but something happened and I can't stop playing the game. The combat is fun and require legitimate strategy rather than just 'aim shoot bang u ded', and often requires coordination and communication between you and your teammates to effectively tackle an objective. On top of this, the visuals look absolutely fantastic on PS4. The snow-covered streets are an absolute blast to walk around and look at, and there's a sense of barrenness, but executed correctly, unlike games like Fallout 4. I'll probably update this review as I collect my thoughts for it, but for now I am going to go ahead and say this: if you've been following this game for a while and are still interested in it, it'll absolutely be worth your time and money. I love this game and I can't wait to go back to sink many more hours into it.

Fallout 46
Nov 13, 2015
Far from a perfect game, the writing is decent and the world is a lot more dense and packed than previous iterations, but unpolished visuals and continuous performance issues hinder an experience that already feels too familiar to be set apart from its predecessors. Enhanced gunplay and animations make the game feel more solid, but from a general standpoint the gameplay feels like nothing special. Base building and deep character customisation are a nice addition, but not enough to keep me engrossed for more than a few more hours.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate9

Aside from some personal issues with the quality of the narrative, this is the damn best Assassin's Creed game in years, and I'd go so far to say it stands up near to the likes of II. This is the Assassin's Creed game veteran AC fans have been waiting for, and I'm glad the series is back in top form. I have faith in you once more, Ubisoft, don't muck up the next one.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 54
Oct 3, 2015
The game isn't awful, but it isn't good. The gameplay works *most* of the time, and when it does it can be quite fun. The characters initially control quite sluggishly, but that is improved as you play the game and unlock stats. That said, there are some glaring issues with the game. The character 'creation' is extremely limited, making you edit already existing skaters with new heads and bodies, instead of making your own skater from the ground up (which has been a feature since the first games). Another huge issue with the game is the level design, which is arguably one of the most important parts of the Tony Hawk games. All of the levels are completely forgettable and feel lazily cobbled together in a few hours by someone using the in-game park creator. On top of this, the game doesn't look all too pretty either. The cel-shaded graphics kind of saved it in this regard. Without them the game would look like an early 360 game. And despite that, the game runs like **** it aims for 60fps but rarely hits it, by dropping down to lower than 30 at a lot of points, which can lead to physics-based glitches such as falling off of rails and losing your combos due to your skater inexplicably falling down. And yet another problem with the game becomes apparent, the glitches. The glitches I've experienced aren't quite as bad as the ones reported, with people reporting constant crashing and sometimes even game corruption. Luckily, the glitches I've experience lie only in gameplay, such as getting trapped inside scenery and getting thrown off my board mid-combo for no reason. Overall, the game isn't good. It's very disappointing for a long-time Tony Hawk game fan like myself. The gameplay still holds up moderately compared to the other games, and is a slight improvement over Pro Skater HD's clunky gameplay, but these rare moments of satisfaction are far overshadowed by the mediocrity and sometimes outright awfulness of the rest of it. Avoid Pro Skater 5 until it drops down to $20 or less.

Not only the best movie license game I've ever played, but also the best game I've played this year. Beautiful, frantic and above all - fun. Definitely pick this up if you're a fan of driving games, brawlers, survival games or third-person shooters. 9.5/10

Hatred9
Jun 2, 2015
A fun ass game which is very reminiscent of the original Postal. The art style is great and the world feels real with almost everything being interactive or destructible. This game also proves that some developers have a backbone and are willing to release something uncensored and unadulterated. They had a vision, and they delivered on it, and the execution (no pun intended) is great.

Call of Duty: Ghosts2
May 18, 2015
A hilariously pathetic, short and bland experience with a story so laughable I cracked up near the end. I cannot describe how awful this game is, not only as a game, but as an addition to the Call of Duty franchise. Constant framerate and general performance issues often hinder the already awful experience. Try harder, Infinity Ward.

A huge improvement over its last gen counterpart. I would highly recommend you try it out if you found the game to be disappointing on last gen much like I did. Higher player count in GTA online and boosted textures/performance make for a more realised and achieved experience than the previous versions.

A damn fun and challenging game with some great visuals and gameplay for its time and platform. Performance issues occasionally hinder the experience but only marginally. It's super cheap nowadays so if you're looking for a challenging game with great combat mechanics this game is for you. Extra props to the game for being one of the only open-world games set in London.

Jan 31, 2015
This game came out of nowhere for me, I remember seeing a trailer for it a while back and I kinda shrugged it off, but it appeared on the PlayStation Store and I thought I'd give it a shot. Frankly, I absolutely love it. The premise, setting and characters are all fairly unique and interesting, definitely nothing I've seen done in a game previous to this. I'm genuinely excited to play the second episode now. Good job Squeenix.

Sep 30, 2014
The best rhythm game ever created. Prior to playing this I was very much on the side of Guitar Hero in the ongoing war between Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but after playing this my opinion completely swayed. The variety in genres of music this game covers is amazing. A much more diverse and open experience than Guitar Hero.

As a Resi game this is bad. Really bad. But if you look at it as an action game, it's actually quite good. The visuals are great and the gameplay is fluid, but it's simply not Resi anymore. I'm bordering my score between what I'd rate it as an action game and what I'd rate it as a Resi game, 8 and 4 respectively.

A really fun little experience, a definite step up from Saints Row: The Third, but also a big step away from the Saints Row franchise. Sep 30, 2014
Oh dear, this was certainly not what I was expecting. This game is a prime example **** that can 'talk the talk' but can't 'walk the walk' per se. The visuals are absolutely amazing, in fact they are some of the best I have ever seen, but that doesn't make up for the boring mission structure and repetitive gameplay. Sep 30, 2014
It's not awful, but it's certainly not the 'true next-gen experience' we hoped for. With a lackluster story, boring characters and middling visuals, Watch Dogs is only really held up by it's open world and multiplayer. If you're planning on buying Watch Dogs, wait for the price to drop below £20 (or your regional equivalent), since this is, in my opinion, definitely not worth the current price.
