While Khaos Reigns extends the experience of the enjoyable Mortal Kombat 1, the story expansion itself is nothing to write home about. The six new fighters are the meat of the experience, with some fun returning characters from past games and three well-realised guest characters, some of which have shaken up the meta in a positive way. Regardless, this bundle is difficult to recommend as a package, so fans who are only interested in a select few Kombat Pack 2 fighters would be better off purchasing them individually.

Unfortunately, the excitement of that original Mortal Kombat 1 ending is gone, and in its place rests a trepidation and unease over where the story might go next. Fittingly, it seems this once-promising story has been thrown into, well, chaos.

Khaos Reigns is a very bland and boring story expansion, with the addition of only 3 new characters (with 3 more guests to come), it is a very expensive package for what we are offered, at this point it's recommended to just wait for the ultimate edition of the game to come out with all the dlcs.

Una expansión entretenida si ya sos fan de Mortal Kombat 1, pero decepcionante como continuación de la historia. Aporta buenos personajes, pero se queda corta en contenido y ambición.
Nuevos personajes muy bien diseñados.
Combate sigue siendo excelente.
Gran apartado gráfico.
Algunas escenas cinematográficas destacadas.
Puntos débiles:
Historia floja y poco memorable.
Muy corto.
Precio elevado para el contenido.
No mejora problemas del juego base

This may be one of the worst expansions ever made. The story is bad. horrible and ridiculous. Havik turn out to be a really stupid villain, sad to see. But to be honest ALL the new characters are horrible. What they did to Cyrax and Sektor is disrespect to old fans. It also **** that a game based on kameos, did not got ANY kameos in the second expansion. All of this crap for just $50. WB and NRS hit rock bottom with this. I hope a miracle happens and Ed and the talented NRS workers can escape from this monster called WB Games

Terrible. Such nonsense. Cringy characters (khaos = punk = colorful mohawk haircuts). Greedy DLC by a studio milked dry...

Despite a single player campaign that is decidedly forgettable, Khaos Reigns is a step in the right direction from Netherrealm in terms of balance and roster choices. Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot are spectacular, dynamic, and deep, and the balance changes are timely and not excessive. We are not faced with an absolute excellence in the fighting genre, but it would be unfair to rate this expansion lower than the base title, of which it is still a notable evolution.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is a fun addition to the steller base game. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that your mileage with it will vary wildly. If you’re just after a little more story you could be done with Khaos Reigns in a couple of hours. Those looking for new characters to master, especially fans of a certain trio of ninjas will certainly get much more out of the update.

this was the perfect expansion to the main story. the only reason i am not giving this a higher score than an 8 is because it seems as if this just should have been included with the base game as the ending considering it ends with a clear path forward to the next installment so this just feels like what should have been the actual ending of this game instead of charging $49 to basically get the ending of this game. with that being said it was a great addition to the baseline story and i am excited to play the next entry!

Anyone who uses the word "woke" in their review isn't someone to take seriously. Therefore I shall drop this 10 to counter balance their foolish review. DLC characters are incredibly fun and the main reason to pick up KR. Looking forward to playing as Ghostface.

Khaos Reigns doesn't shake up Mortal Kombat 1 as much as a chaotic regime implies. Instead, it sticks to what works, or at least what it thinks will work. More story mode, more ninjas, and more guest characters. For me, the ninjas steal the show over a weak story and an unexciting (although yet to be released) guest ensemble.

Mortal Kombat 1 hasn’t missed once with its post-launch DLC characters (and really, with its roster as a whole) so I’m sure that the rest of the expansion’s soon-to-be-released fighters will be great, but as it stands I can only talk about these three. While they are some of MK1’s strongest characters (in terms of how they play at least), they can’t make me overlook what is otherwise a weak expansion greatly overshadowed by NetherRealm’s last offering.

Fast, fun, beautiful, short. The campaign story is done in 5 hours which is insane for nowadays. A campaign like in Street Fighter 6 with character creator would be a dream come true.
