If you're willing to put significant work in, the game will reward you. But there's no half measures or casual participation. Ingress is all or nothing.

after Pokémon go, it’s difficult to play, and actually not very interesting, but this is probably the first game in this genre where you need to go outside)

It's simple, but it's the groundbreaking AR game that all future AR games will be trying to beat. I liked what Pokemon Go did, but most of the content is at the higher levels and you have to put way more time into Go to make any kind of a difference in your neighborhood. You also need to coordinate with high level friends, so you can't team up across levels as you can in Ingress, and you have to be in the same exact place at the same exact time, which is rough. The Ingress events were some of the funest gaming experiences I have had. That's just never happened with any other type of AR game that I know of.

Although it lacks some of the features of the Android version, it does have the advantage of being noticeably faster for linking & deploying. Get up, Get Outside & Get Ingress and remember Apples are green ;-)
