Don't be fooled by the racing appearance, as light trax is just as much a puzzle game able to hold its strategic own against any other entry in the Art Style series. It's full of unconventional and clever ideas executed through an attractive neon minimalist style that can satisfy fans of both genres, especially those who have grown weary of the typical fare each tends to offer.

This isn't what you'd call a 'non-game', however. Art Style: Light Trax has a deep set of mechanics that challenge and reward in equal measure, and make its gameplay as satisfying as the presentation is beautiful.

If they make light trax 2 with a little more to do, a more consistently fair camera, and a versus mode, that game could get a 10.

Minimalist racing game, while the races really do start as races the tracks soon become extremely tough and become a lesson in memorization in having to avoid all the traps. The 8 bit music is danceable, the game's visuals are pretty trippy and the free way mode is relaxing.

It's the coolest way to spend six bucks.

It's not very easy to get to grips with but once it clicks it's very difficult to put down. [Sept 2010, p.91]

Odd, but enjoyably so. [Sept 2010, p.99]

Light Trax continues to zip along the fine line between puzzler and racer neatly. [Aug 2010, p.98]

The game looks as simple as it plays. A black background and colored lines move on the screen and that's pretty much it. The retro-look is popular right now, but this games takes it a little bit too far. The gameplay isn't interesting enough to keep your attention for more than ten minutes.

Start by choosing one of the two main modes of game play, each with its own distinct goal. In light tours mode, you vie with oth... Read More
