At its best, Storm is a curiously relaxing, tranquil, and almost meditative experience. At its worst, it's an irritating and cumbersome exercise in physics-based frustration which only gets less enjoyable as the puzzles ramp up in difficulty. It may have a fresh, vibrant aesthetic, but the actual gameplay doesn't match up to the potential it clearly has.

An extreme exercise in patience. [Sept 2013, p.71]
With around 50 levels to chew on, the game is substantial but no banquet, and the later levels don't really build on their predecessors in any mind-blowing ways. It's a welcome break from the frenzy elsewhere on Xbox Live, but it never threatens to become a fixture.

I don't know what Eko Software was trying to make Storm into. When you start Storm it looks like a relaxing, simple puzzler, where you roll a seed from one fertilized patch of soil to another using the elements that make up a storm. In concept and design it looks and feels simple. But when you play Storm for 20+ hours you slowly realize this is not the game you signed-up for. Read the full review at ****

Storm isn't a game that is going to knock your socks off, but what it does do is provide a nice puzzle game for the fans who like their brand of puzzles a little more laid back and thought-oriented versus time and speed oriented. If you enjoyed games like Braid, there is plenty to love about Storm as it is original, thought provoking, and most of all fun.

The first two thirds are a contemplative puzzler with dreamy art direction, beguiling music and sound effects you can turn off, should you so desire. It's a small idea, but one worth playing. Had the developers withstood the urge to go a bit overboard with the action in the last bits, this would have been a really great brain-teaser. In any case, you should give it a chance to enchant you before it'll almost inevitably spite you a bit. Sometimes there's something to be said for that, this is not one of those times. But what can you do? Weather and seasons tend to come and go as they please.

Built upon an original and interesting idea, Storm is a nice experience for puzzle game lovers, but some inconsistencies in level design and flaws in the controls and physics prevent it from reaching its full potential.

Storm offers a charming puzzle experience but it relies too much on agility and timing and too little on well crafted levels.

SummaryStorm is a physics-based puzzle platform game where players control the weather, breathing gusts of wind, summoning torrents of rain, and calling down thunderous claps of lightning. The goal is to manipulate the environment in order to move a series of balls from the beginning of the level to the end, navigating treacherous terrain and p... Read More
